Right Click - All The Options Invisible
Aug 24, 2006Whenever I right click now, all the options are what I'd call invisible, and I have to move the mouse over where they options would be to make them each appear individually.

View 1 RepliesWhen I use the right mouse button, the menu that should appear doesn't. It
is invisible until I scroll the mouse cursor over where it should be. I
changed the appearance from XP to Classic and back. That changed the drop
down menus back. They were doing the same thing.
I had a thread about this before, but I'm back where I started. This time, tweak UI is not working for me.When a user purchases or reformats Windows XP, what are the default options for the File>New or Right-Click>New, and how can I restore them? I know I'm missing creating new text documents, but I know there must be other items as well.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with XP in that if I right click on a file the drop-down options appear and if I move down to select an option mostly I get a warning that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I click Debug but then get a Warning that DrWatson debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close as well. On the right click drop-down there is an option "Open with Videozilla". I have a hunch that this may have something to do with the problem because it is mostly when this is highlighted in navigating down the options that the problem occurs.
I searched all files for "zilla" and only remnants of Mozilla were found, which I removed. No Videozilla files were found. When the mouse hits Videozilla the folder closes, all icons on desktop disappear for a few seconds as if the PC was resetting. It does not crash but is infuriating. Anybody else ever experience something similar? I could be barking up the wrong tree blaming Videozilla.
I followed this guide, to add options when you right click, but instead of editing folder, I actually edited file folder. It said at the bottom you need to go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTFoldershellCreate_File_Listing in the registry to remove it, but i couldn't find file folder.I want it back again so when i double click a folder, it opens the folder. I didn't know what the windows explorer .exe name was or where it was stored, so for the time being i have to right click>>Open
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Compaq, Windows XP, and I think Internet Explorer 7. After receiving and installing updates, I am not sure anymore. Here are my problems...
1. I cannot find the internet option tab anymore. It is not anywhere.
2. Right clicks are not working. I cannot save pictures or add any favorites when I right click.
3. Cannot print from most websites.
4. I cannot activate ActiveX.
I've got a very strange problem with my right click menu where if I right click something, file or empty space, the menu pops up with options missing. I'll open an application/program and the right click menu will lose some more options... eventually I'm left with no menu at all, I right click and nothing happens, and left click and I can see from the animations on buttons that the computer is recognising a click, but nothing happens. If I close a program, part of the menu comes back. This happens for any and every program, programs which I've been using for years. I always keep my antivirus software up to date and scans detect no viruses. I system restored back two months and the problem was still there. Today I wiped my hard drive and reinstalled Windows XP as a last resort to get rid of this issue, and it's still there! I have no idea what it is, what's causing it or why it's happening, and I can't find any way to get rid of it other than continue to close programs to restore options, but that's not good enough because eventually I end up with no programs left to close and the only way for my clicks to work again is to reboot.

Otherwise the computer seems to start up normally and operate as usual. Something has changed and I don't know what the problem may be.

A couple of times recently, I have made service calls that if I could have gotten into the Administrator's account, I could have fixed it; but, some fool had changed passwords on both the user account and the Administator account. Is there a way to create an invisible account with administrator privilidges that can be accessed in some way but that doesn't show up in the log-in screen or under Users and Passwords?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a problemic glitch for a specific folder. This folder is called "Alicia Keys" and has two albums (folders) inside it "Song in A Minor" and "The Dairy of Alicia Keys". The glitch that I am refering to is when I viewed the two albums as thumbnails their filenames become invisible. Sure the usual performances occur, you can rename, delete and add folders, but every file inside "Alicia Keys" will have a invisible name. What is strange is the fact that this only occurs for the folder with this exact same path. C:Documents and Settings<User Name>My DocumentsMy MusicAlicia Keys.
I renamed that "Alicia Keys" to something else for eg. "Alicia Keys2" and the problem wasn't there - both albums revealed their filenames when viewed as thumbnails. I created another "Alicia Keys" and created a new folder inside it and the problem is the same. The new created folder does not reveal its filename (when viewed as a thumbnail as you should know). Completely invisible. This is really strange for me and I assume something in the registry has done this; just something for this exact same folder. Now i want to fix this problem because at the moment I'm organizing My Music with the proper format I want when viewing these folders with details and thumbnail views and whatever. Alicia Keys Certainly has become a real bother.
Let's say I want to make Adware invisible to anybody who uses my computer. Some real primitive answer is to delete it from the menu and also its shortcut icon. The problems is that you can still see it if you go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Is there any way to make it invisible there and other places where it can be seen as installed? I've found tons of software to just "hide it away with a keystroke," like when you're trying to "hide it from your boss." In that case what you can do is just use Alt+Tab and Presto !
my desktop icons and taskbar are invisible.help me out plz.got tired using tassk manager to open drives.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSomehow my daughter has gotten several of the Asian fonts on her computer. In Wordpad and WordPerfect they come up at the beginning of her font list as Arial Unicode MS, @MingLui, @NSimSun, @PMingLui and @SimSun. I have tried deleting them but they are write-protected.When you go to the font list the fonts are all there but many of them are invisible. I have tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling it but to no avail. I uninstalled it tonight but figured I would try and solve the deletion problem before reinstalling - in case they are connected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a computer that I formatted the hard drive on. Then installed Windows XP Pro. When it boots up, it goes to a black screen and has Windows XP Pro and Windows XP listed with the Win XP Pro selected and boots to it in 15 seconds or so if nothing is selected. I have read somewhere about this before and have NO clue where I read it, but does anyone know how to get rid of the option (Win XP) that really doesn't even exist on the hard drive?

View 5 Replies View RelatedNow however, my hard drive seems to contain approx 13GB of data which I am unable to locate, even when viewing the "hidden files" option. I first noticed this increased used space when I wanted to defragment the hard drive and noticed that there was only 45% free space available (there is usually 75%).I have viewed the properties of all the folders on the C: drive and they do not add up to the 20GB shown on the C: drive properties...The defragment report states that "some files in the volume could not be defragmented"

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a folder (MyComputer, for example), and try to right-click or double-click an icon to open it- it does not work. When I right-click the icon, NOTHING happens. When I double-click the icon, the icon gets highlighted, but the program or other folder does not open. I checked in the folder options, and it is set up so that when you double-click an icon, it opens the program. But the weird thing about it is that if I try to double-click or right-click an icon on my desktop.. it works like it should. So this really just doesn't make sense.

The problem: It shows "Microsoft XP Home Edition" Twice. Is there any way to fix this and to just allow XP to boot automatically every time without prompt?
