Aug 5, 2005When looking for some files, I tried to unhide a folder and it just made more folders disappear. I checked the Hidden folders option (in the properties window of the folder that contained the files I was looking for)
and the folder I was in became hidden. I cleared the box for hide folders but it is still hidden.

Oct 29, 2006I have windows xp. When I click on start, all prgrams - the list of programs shows up but alot of those folders are empy. Games, System tools, Microsoft Money, Microsoft Office Tools and many others are all empty. I apologize if this is a stupid question.I'm afraid I've done something by mistake to mess these folders up. Any help would be appreciated.

Had to restore hard drive after a crash but now can't find MS Backup program to use to restore my Backup. Where can I download this application?

Apr 19, 2007Working on my pastor's pc running XP Pro and I've the majority of it cleaned up but when I look under where it's supposed to be programs/accesories/system tools>system restore it's not there. I do a file search and it doesn't come up. So, how do I restore the system restore so I can create a restore point? I've never had this before.

Jul 7, 2010I have a Dell M1710 XPS laptop, recently because of a power cut it failed to boot because of a corrupt file. I've re-installed windows XP (for some reason I was not able to boot from CD and repair), now obviously alot of the programs that are still on the hardrive will not open because they need to be re-installed. Unfortunatly I'm stuck on a ship with very little internet access and no CD's to re-install stuff with. I don't know if its possible to get these things working
Anyway my major concern is I've lost alot of my I'tunes music and photos that were on my hard-drive before. They seem to be still on the harddrive as I still have only 10% of the drive left as free space and yet when I double click on C: drive on my computer there shows only 32 gigs of stuff in folders there and I cannot find any of my music (program files seem to be unaffected, there still on the drive as normal even if im unable to run them). Is there anyway to find these missing folders/files that still seem to be on my harddrive but not visable.
From Safe Mode Canot Go To Normal Mode?
Nov 17, 2007On System Configuration utility (start<run<"type" msconfig) on boot ini tab I selected Safe mode & Minimal (Alternateshell) & restarted. Then On the screen I see only a dos prompt window, CMD.exe. No graphical window. No start menu or other destop icons.Restart & try with F8 key, other F keys...... no use. Then I repaired with the win xp cd. The problem going more worst than before. The machine display a message "Windows xp setup cannot run under safemode . Setup will restart now". Either I close it or OK it, machine restarts. I can't even try anything now

Nov 21, 2007when I try to locate a file to open one, I click the browse icon, but no folders show up.Cant post a picture to show you. This is how it looks.
1. press browse
2. The window shows, (were I can chose a folder) and reads "Select the directory where you VST plugins are located"
3. Its blank, shows no folders
4. Bottom says "Folder" you type the folder name there
5. bottom left says "Make new folder"
6. Bottom right says "OK" and Cancel
how can I locate my folder when I dont see names or folders themselves? find the older and click o-kay? I tried copy and paste the file name and were its located like: C:Program FilesImage-LineFL Studio 7 but nothing happens.

System Tools Not Working
Mar 12, 2009windows Xp dell xps 410, 250gb HDD, 500gb HDD, 3gb memory. I tried to defrag but that would not open. Tried system restore that wouldn't work. Thought maybe it was turned off but found it is on. Tried to open my C drive to browse windows explorer couldn't open got this as a messege cannot find 'RECYCLER5-3-4-42-100005007-100023858-310.com' I can't open my D drive either(500gb hd).

I know I had them because they came pre-installed in Windows XP. Lastly I tried to start my computer in safe mode, but when it get to the safe mode drivers loading screen my computer freezes up.
