When I click on start=>programs=>accessories=>system tools,its shows empty.I would like to know how can I restore my system tools as I would want to perform a system restore for my PC.

I have tried doing a search for them. Can you please tell me where to look for them and to put them back where they belong. I want to do a system restore point and can't.
After looking through microsofts list of cmd tools I realized that I don't have several of them. I have xp home edition sp3 .I'm guessing that not all the tools are included in the home edition.If that is true does anyone know where I would be able to download the ones that my OS does not have.I have double checked my i386 files on the install disc and found nothing there that I do not already have

windows Xp dell xps 410, 250gb HDD, 500gb HDD, 3gb memory. I tried to defrag but that would not open. Tried system restore that wouldn't work. Thought maybe it was turned off but found it is on. Tried to open my C drive to browse windows explorer couldn't open got this as a messege cannot find 'RECYCLER5-3-4-42-100005007-100023858-310.com' I can't open my D drive either(500gb hd).

So I guess I will have to go back to IE and fight all the crap unless someone has another suggestion. I have Windows xp home edition.

I tried to use different system tools like msconfig, scandisk,and ect. to try to find and fix the problem, but my computer can't find those tools. I know I had them because they came pre-installed in Windows XP. Lastly I tried to start my computer in safe mode, but when it get to the safe mode drivers loading screen my computer freezes up.

Somehow I did something so that system tools such as Defrag and Device Manager are not working, I get some kind of Microsoft Management Console message that these operations cannot be opened or started.
I tried System Restore, and tried SEVERAL dates! Aaargh...for every single date the computer says the system cannot be restored to this date, even though those dates are in bold and show as restore points. SO WHAT IS THE GOOD OF SYSTEM RESTORE

View 6 Replies View RelatedOn my Sony laptop, I can use Foxfire as my browser and all is OK, but when I try to use IE or windows tools like Clean Disk or Defrag, these processes use 100% CPU and hang up. I use AVG for virus protection and ran it in Safe mode - didn't help. I also bought and installed Uniblue Registry Cleaner - that didn't help either. System Restore isn't a solution either.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI own a copy of Windows XP SP1 but I want to download and use a customized and slimmed down version. 99% of those you can download will not validate with Windows Genuine Advantage checking so I would like to change the key on one downloaded and use my own legit key. No I don't want to spend the hours to create my own. I can have a real XP copy thats been slimmed for performance by someone who's sharing it with me - I wont get into how or where for reasons I'm sure are obvious.I have that key and an OEM WinXP Home version but that has no key I dont think and I'd have to extract it and work on it - not ready for all that fuss.Guess the question is: Anyone know where I can get the tools to change my Windows OS key out and slipstream mine in? View 5 Replies View RelatedI run Windows XP Home SP2 and enjoy listening to internet radio for hours at a time while doing non-computer activities. On several random occasions lately, the audio stream has stopped and I discover my desktop has locked up...with no response from keyboard or mouse. After a reset, I've checked the event log and Dr. Watson (drwtsn32.log) but can find no entry, including date/time, related to the freeze. My system runs cool, regularly showing 34C and 35C for board and CPU temps, with all fans at appropriate speeds. My firewall, antivirus and antispyware apps are regularly updated. I haven't installed new hardware or apps in weeks. What other tools are available to troubleshoot this kind of freeze?
