After looking through microsofts list of cmd tools I realized that I don't have several of them. I have xp home edition sp3 .I'm guessing that not all the tools are included in the home edition.If that is true does anyone know where I would be able to download the ones that my OS does not have.I have double checked my i386 files on the install disc and found nothing there that I do not already have
View 2 RepliesWorking on my pastor's pc running XP Pro and I've the majority of it cleaned up but when I look under where it's supposed to be programs/accesories/system tools>system restore it's not there. I do a file search and it doesn't come up. So, how do I restore the system restore so I can create a restore point? I've never had this before.

I've since gave up on that and now we're on to partitioning the hdd and backing up filesproblem is it won't let me access "documents and settings/user/desktop" (his hdd is slaved to my computer at the moment) to save his most important files
I've done everything I can to try and access it

I've walked her through the process of clicking on View at the top of the Outlook Express Interface and setting the Layout items so that her Contacts and Folder list should be on the screen, but they are not. I've tried everything I can think of to rectify the situation and I've run out of options. The way it is without her folders list she cannot access her deleted folder and her sent folder and cannot delete anything from those folders. Is there anything else I can do to bring up those her contacts list and her folders list?

windows Xp dell xps 410, 250gb HDD, 500gb HDD, 3gb memory. I tried to defrag but that would not open. Tried system restore that wouldn't work. Thought maybe it was turned off but found it is on. Tried to open my C drive to browse windows explorer couldn't open got this as a messege cannot find 'RECYCLER5-3-4-42-100005007-100023858-310.com' I can't open my D drive either(500gb hd).

I tried to use different system tools like msconfig, scandisk,and ect. to try to find and fix the problem, but my computer can't find those tools. I know I had them because they came pre-installed in Windows XP. Lastly I tried to start my computer in safe mode, but when it get to the safe mode drivers loading screen my computer freezes up.

Somehow I did something so that system tools such as Defrag and Device Manager are not working, I get some kind of Microsoft Management Console message that these operations cannot be opened or started.
I tried System Restore, and tried SEVERAL dates! Aaargh...for every single date the computer says the system cannot be restored to this date, even though those dates are in bold and show as restore points. SO WHAT IS THE GOOD OF SYSTEM RESTORE

View 6 Replies View RelatedOn my Sony laptop, I can use Foxfire as my browser and all is OK, but when I try to use IE or windows tools like Clean Disk or Defrag, these processes use 100% CPU and hang up. I use AVG for virus protection and ran it in Safe mode - didn't help. I also bought and installed Uniblue Registry Cleaner - that didn't help either. System Restore isn't a solution either.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI own a copy of Windows XP SP1 but I want to download and use a customized and slimmed down version. 99% of those you can download will not validate with Windows Genuine Advantage checking so I would like to change the key on one downloaded and use my own legit key. No I don't want to spend the hours to create my own. I can have a real XP copy thats been slimmed for performance by someone who's sharing it with me - I wont get into how or where for reasons I'm sure are obvious.I have that key and an OEM WinXP Home version but that has no key I dont think and I'd have to extract it and work on it - not ready for all that fuss.Guess the question is: Anyone know where I can get the tools to change my Windows OS key out and slipstream mine in? Would Nlite do all of this?I'll keep searching and thank you for any replies.
