I regularly click on the tools button to delete temp. files and cookies while on the internet to prevent my computer from slowing down. However, it does get slow, so I go to disk cleanup and it shows thousands (like 20thousand or more) temporary files to clean and shows them as locked.

Folder options->View has the "Show hidden folders" option checked.I do not have the windows xp disk since the program was loaded from a corporate server several years ago. The problem is, my daughter wants to delete her user account and has not been successful in doing so. Everytime we go into "control panel/user accounts and click on her name and then select "Delete account", it just sits there with the hourglass and then when I try to get out of it it says that the "program is not responding". We have done this numerous times with no success. I even tried deleting her account from safemode today and that didn't work either. There is something definitely messed up on her user name because I tried signing on under her name and couldn't do anything, it froze up on me and I had to restart. Our computer has been scanned for viruses (none) and adware/malware have all been removed using ad-aware/spybot search & Destroy.

It is a compaq 3400+amd 512mb,200gb.I use sypgate as my firewall, avast antivirus, ad-aware,ccleaner,sypywareblaster. I use IE and Hotmail as my only email. It is stored in an out of the way directory (not system directory of any sort) and I found it when I was doing some housekeeping. The name of the file is PKUNZIP.EXE and it would have been copied onto this computer a couple years ago with some other files. Now I know what pkunzip is, but xp pro this file certainly is not required. Alas when I try to delete it I get this: Error Deleting File or Folder Cannot delete PKUNZIP: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again. So I'm pretty determined to get rid of this guy, not because it's a problem, but because it's made me mad hehe. So I tried to boot up with a 98 boot disk and delete from DOS. No go, 98 boot wont recognize NTFS.

The folder is named C:502371470d48710f4f and contains a subfolder named sp2. The subfolder contains 0 files. Both folders are read-only. I go to Properties and uncheck the read-only attributes; however when I try to delete I then find that the attributes have returned to (grayed-out) read-only. Access, of course, is denied.
