Task Manger Can't Delete Registry Manually

May 10, 2006

I downloaded a bunch of spyware by mistake this morning from a link my friend gave to me, he was unaware as well. I was able to get rid of the majority of it, but there are a few things in my registry i am unable to delete, i used spy bot to get rid of most of the spy ware but for some reason it is not detecting the rest, also ad aware detects it but is unable to remove it since it is running in the background, i am unable to find the processs from task manager and end it so i cant delete it from the registry manually. What it is doing is bascially spamming pop ups on my pc every so often, here are the suspected names of the infections : mpise.dll , h22o0cf3ef2.dll , h62o0gf3e62.dll.

Very Slow Machine And Frustrating

May 30, 2006

a classic slow responding computer, complete with slow opening of browser, choppy videos (buffering related I guess) on Windows Media Player 10 and general sluggishness all around. I'm careful to keep up to speed on my Spybot and Ad-aware SE programs and run my McAfee virus program regularly. They all have appeared to run clean. At the most recent startup before this writing, Task Manager told me there were 53 processes going on. Is that way too much.?

Cookies File Missing In Cookies Folder

Jan 31, 2007

Using XP Pro SP2.Windows explorer doesn't show c:documents and settings/jdl/cookies folder when opened from the start->programs menu. However, Start->Run with c:documents and settingsjdlcookies typed in opens the folder. Folder options->View has the "Show hidden folders" option checked.I do not have the windows xp disk since the program was loaded from a corporate server several years ago. I no longer work for that company.Any assistance would be appreciated. Not a big deal since I can access the folder. It may, however, indicate that other problems are afoot. I discovered this when Counterspy Ver. 2 Beta identified the cookie from CNET Networks, Inc., and I couldn't find it in Windows Explorer.

Most Frustrating - 2kPro Hangs Randomly - BSOD

Mar 30, 2005

This fight between my computer and me has been going on for over a year & it's getting really annoying - because nothing I've tried works! Symptom: In the middle of doing anything...or even when I'm out of the room and computer is idle...the damned machine just stops! No error message, no BSOD -- nothing. It can happen anywhere from 2 or 3 to maybe 10 times a day. When I'm working, I can tell when computer has hung up because suddenly it ignores a command or keystroke. I can move the mouse pointer around the screen, but the cursor stays in its last functioning shape. Here's a curious thing: no keys work but I can click a mouse button between 6 and 8 times while moving the cursor around, and then the box gives one "beep" sound and that's the end! Now, the mouse cursor won't move either and I have no choice but to power off & then reboot. (<ctrl><alt><del> doesn't work, of course

SP3 Wont Shut Down - Sprtcmd.exe - Manually End

Oct 3, 2008

I have a Dell XPS computer with Windows XP SP3. Just yesterday it started acting up by when I went to shut it down (and it does this every time now) it says "ending program "sprtcmd.exe" , then unable to end program, so I have to end manually EVERY DARN TIME. This just started with shut down last nite. I did a system restore and that fixed it, BUT then my McCaffee Antivirus program said it can not load due to an error, basically the antivirus program got all screwed up, so I UN-DID the restore. Now the antivirus works well but the stupid "sprtcmd.exe" problem is back! So I did that about 5 times picking different System Restore points each time and for some reason the McCafee screws up, so I had to undo each one.

NTFS Volume - Manually Turn Off

I have a game that I play sometimes. I downloaded it from a very reliable site as I have 3 or 4 other games from the same site that have always worked fine. On this particular game, every once and a while it will freeze up on me and the only way to get out is to manually turn off my pc and then turn it back on again. When I turn it back on my pc does some kind of a scan and tells me that the NTFS volume is dirty. I have never seen this term used before. I am running a Dell with Windows XP sp2.
