I have two proggrams in the Add/Remove Program list that will not 'un-install'. I've removed them manually but they still show in the list. any way of altering the settings [ registry ?] so these don't show in future ?

When it loaded up I noticed that everything is taking 2x as long to load and it is taking long time to even get the start button list up. I was able to get into the add/remove program list but nothing was there. I waited for about 10 minutes and then nothing still, I don't know any other way to remove McAfee, how to remove McAfee, add/remove program list won't work here.

I removed a program via the add/remove programs and it seemed as though everything was removed... no traces of it on the desktop or via the start up menu. However, browsing through, (is it still windows explorer?), I saw that the folder is still there and full of goodies. Can I just delete the entire main folder? I get nervous in and around there since something is always sharing something from somewhere else.

I understand that it was for her own protection as she can't execute any viruses, but it needs to be disabled to allow her to upgrade her flash player. I know the work around is to download the standalone file and manually remove the .pdf but would prefer to nip the problem in the bud.

View 44 Replies View RelatedI have a Dimension 4700 and I was recently going through my add/remove programs list trying to clean up and get rid of some programs I didn't use anymore(like google earth, partypoker, etc) and I came across Yahoo Download Manager and figured I didn't need it and right when I clicked remove my computer shuts down, I am not sure how anything in this would have that kind of effect on my computer from removing, or if it was just a coincidence. I go to reboot it and get the blue screen error message Stop C000021a and below gives me another error- f 0xc0000135.

Some time ago, after an anti-virus program ran, I could no longer access several icons such as Internet Explorer, Opera, CC cleaner and others. When I click these icons, the message given is "The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel." Could someone please tell me how to do this?Also, when I restart the computer, a message comes up saying "Windows cannot find file "1"." View 2 Replies View RelatedI ran Secunia's scan and it found I needed to update Java. Apparently Java installs a new version and the old version remains. I used Revo Uninstaller to remove Java. However, in the last stage where a few more files were being removed, Revo crashed. Now when I look in Windows Add/Remove Programs or Revo - Java is not seen. When I run Secunia - it still says Java's outdated version is on the computer and shows it in the program files. I tried to delete the entire Java folder from the program files, but Windows tells me I cannot delete a .dll file. How do I get the Java completely off this PC so I can update to the "safe version? Oh... I tried System Restore, which never works (even after going thru all the steps to make system restore start working), and, of course, this time it did not work either. I have three computers and System Restore never works on any of them. But that's another rant!

Microsoft tech suport referred me to start/run appwiz, and remove Visual IP InSight -- but that file wasn't on the list of programs. I removed an un-named installer from the top of the list, thinking that was the culprit.Since then, Windows Installer dialog box pops up whenever I open Explorer or any other program. I can't seem to get rid of the remnants some Nokia programs that my son installed on the PC.
They wouldn't uninstall using the conventional method so I just deleted the folders and used Registry Medic to clean up the mess.
The only thing left is in the add/remove programs list.
I have gone in the registry and in the 'uninstall section' removed all things 'Nokia' but still they remain.
Just ran my Add/Remove Programs utility from the Control panel, and it said populating please wait.
Half an hour later, the list still has nothing in it !

How can I fix this?
When I go into the add remove programs from the control panel, the list never gets displayed. I get a 'Please wait while the list is populated...", but nothing happens after that. This is on a fresh install on a new PC, with only about 6 programs installed (Photoshop, Photomechanic, etc). Nothing out of the ordinary.
