Working on my pastor's pc running XP Pro and I've the majority of it cleaned up but when I look under where it's supposed to be programs/accesories/system tools>system restore it's not there. I do a file search and it doesn't come up. So, how do I restore the system restore so I can create a restore point? I've never had this before.

Some time ago (can't remember exactly when) I created a Backup of Files (documents, pictures, etc) using Accessories/Systyem Tools/ MS Backup.
Had to restore hard drive after a crash but now can't find MS Backup program to use to restore my Backup. Where can I download this application?
Microsft Update has just finished installing all XP updates on my computer but MS Backup is not one of them)

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've reinstalled XP and some icons are missing from the "Start"/"all programs" menu. Both Outlook Express and Internet Explorer are missing. I was able to locate them using "search" then open and pin to start menu. (The search function displays i.e. shortcuts for "administrator", "guest" and the other user, but not for me. The icons do display on the "all programs" list for the other user). Any suggestions as to how to get them back on the "all programs" menu?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows XP professional on a new hard drive on Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. The OS installed fine but now I cannot get onto internet. I have ATT/Yahoo DSL. My laptop has integrated wireless adapter.
When I look under device manager -> network adapters, I only see the following listed:
1) 1394 Net Adapter
2) Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
3) Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)
I don't believe any of the above are for internet.
On my other laptop (Dell Latitude D610), under network adapters, I do see:
1) Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller
2) Cisco Systems SSL VPN Adapter
3) Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection
Using Latitude D610 laptop, I am able to connect to the internet wireless. What do I need to do to my Inspiron 6000 to enable it to connect to the internet wireless? Under control panel -> network connections, I only see 1394 connection and Bluetooth Network Connection. No LAN 2, LAN 3, Wireless connection, etc.
The master list of programs are missing from the start menu and All Programs.

I have a pretty fair amount of programs installed and my 'all programs' list is pretty long. The problem is it takes almost 30 seconds to scroll from the top to the bottom, which is annoying when I want to start a program that's at the bottom (or top) of the list. Does anyone know of a registry hack or something that can speed it up?

the list that I do not have anymore which is adobe acrobat reader 5.0.

Is there a way to remove certain things from the Add/Remove Programs file list? I've manually deleted about seven programs, because their Uninstall would not startup, but the programs stay on the list.

When I press any key I get the first error message again and again. The number of SPs allocated in the error message keeps increasing every time I press a Key.
The only way to acces my PC is with the SAFE Mode.
If there is a trick or program that will let me get a list of all the programs in my add/remove programs list

I ran C-cleaner today and under the 'Tools' section, found in the 'Uninstall' section several strange programs that I have never installed. I don't know whether to remove them or leave them as they are. I've had the experience of deleting some mystery programs off my old computer and then finding that something or other couldn't run, so I'm deathly afraid that the same thing will happen on my laptop. I'll list out my NEC laptop mystery program names here.
what these programs are and whether to uninstall or leave them? Here they are:

5. Internet Worm Protection (could this be part of the trial version of Norton Antivirus on my comouter?)
