I have just reinstalled xp media center edition. I have my pc connected to my plasma tv with s-video lead, everything used to work before new instalation, but now when I right click on an AVI the play on my tv option won't work, the option is listed in the drop down menu but nothing happens when clicked.

I have to start it manually, by clicking the drive and choosing "autorun". It is the same for other drives as well, such as cd-rom drive. How do I fix this?if it's possible, I would like not to install any programs. So are there any configurations or properties I can check?

I have tried to correct this by right clicking and using: Properties>Customize>Advanced, but without success.Haven’t been able to fix this with Tweak UI or by using sfc. View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a Samsung DVD/CD+RW and it's been working great. However, one thing bugs me. Auto Play will not work with it. I have options in the drive's properties menu to choose what actions the drive should take when a media CD is installed. I have it set so that any type of media is AutoPlay. There're no options for data discs. However, no matter what kind of disc, from movie to Windows XP nothing happens. I have to open up My Computer and then browse for the auto play.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an AOpen DVD Reader and a Samsung DVD Burner drive in my XP Pro SP2 system.My problem is that whenever I put any CD or DVD in either drive the auto play will not work, if I open up My Computer and click on the drive Icon it will open up in the folder list but there is no Auto Play option.I have run the CD Auto Play from K'K line 10 and also restore Auto Play Icon, line 17 but none of these have worked. I have also run the repair tool from Kelly's Korner line 234 right hand side but that is unable to repair the function.

When I go to the device manager, it's telling me that no audio device is installed and I can't seem to find it or how to reinstall it (I do not have the disk that came with the computer). However, my main concerns are the USB ports and the Plug and Play feature. These were working fine, but now nothing happens when I plug in a USB device. There is power going to the USB ports, however, the system doesn't seem to recognize that I have plugged something in. I've tried uninstalling the drivers and restarting the system, and the drivers were correctly reinstalled but it is still not finding any new device that I plug in. System restore isn't working either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen i put my computer in standby or hibernation...about 75% of the time, when i bring it out of said state, i can use instant messaging, play online games, my internet works, but not my internet browser. neither firefox or IE works, it acts just as if i was offline. my second problem...is when using a program that opens an HTM or HTML file inside itself (counter-strike, anti-virus, just about anything), it asks me before it opens it, and if i click ok, it opens it in my internet browser, and i have no idea why. this gets REALLY annoying, especially during online gaming when i can't see in-game guides to do things, and it opens up 3-4 dialog screens before every single game.

Downloaded and installed windows update and restarted computer. Now it continues to restart. Screen comes up with options for starting in safe mode etc., but the "start normally" option is highlighted and the up and down arrows won't work, nor with the function buttons.

View 6 Replies View RelatedRunning XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, SP 2 I created several CD on our old computer running Win 98SE using autorun.inf file to automatically open an *.html page containing an index of the contains of the CD(s). The autorun.inf on those CDs don't work on any of our XP computers. The CDs are recognized easily by these computers running XP but won't open the autorun.inf files.
Nowww do note autorun CDs that come with programs, that we buy, run with no trouble which means the autorun option is definitely on. I have even copied the autorun.inf files from program/purchased CDs and changed the file to open name to the *.html file on the CDs and still they won't work. Again do note these CDs with autorun.inf that I created easily run on all our Win98 computers.

Any ideas as to how I can get a good defrag on this machine or what is happening here. I have run two malware applications or programs and my antivirus. Nothing there it appears to be clean.

It does not let me select the box "always use this program to open files like this" so i cannot select explorer and save that setting. I've been through the file associations and it has "open" set as default. Tried to change this to "explore" but that didn't work.

Additionally, I have two themes tab. I recently installed desktop architect on my computer, but then uninstalled it, but the second themes tab still remains. I suspect that that tab is from desktop architect, because it uses its same icon. I am not so worried about the second themes tab since it doesn't bother me, but I really wanted to use my effects tab for a theme I am creating.

Though on right clicking and opening, they work. One more thing is, when i go to start>>programs and click on ANY program for it to start, that also doesnt work. View 10 Replies View Relatedwhenever I try to play music it doesnt play, it says low on memory, whenever I open any Microsoft Word program it gives me some error about a license, and whever I try to copy and paste anything, it doesnt let me. I have a few partitions on my hard drive and whenever I copy one file or a folder or anything, I cannot paste it anywhere. If I open Control Panel, the screen doesnt appear as usual, all the icons are on two columns on the lft side with a scroll bar next to them. If I try to open Add/Remove programs, it comes up all garbled. I was going to just reformat the whole computer but it will not boot from the cd rom drive now. And whenever the computer is booted in W2K and I try to browse the CD in My Computer, it just says "Please insert disk in drive...." Also, whenevr I restart, it sits on my desktop for about 5 minutes before it finally brings up the icons and everything. It has never done any of this, it just started this morning.

Recently noticed that when I left-click on any of the icons of the Hard-disk drives and/or Devices with Removable Storage within 'My Computer', the 'Search' Option opens up by default instead of the 'Open' option, like in other folders. Likewise, when I right-click on the said icons, the 'Search' option is topmost & the 'Open' option has been relegated to second position. I would like the Search option to come first. Can't remember whether this was so from before or changed recently.
