like a fool i downloaded webshots, it seems to be riddled with adware, now no matter what i try i can't get rid. i have run ad-aware, spy-bot sd, microsoft anti spyware and i have norton 2005 but i am still suffering with the blessed pop-ups and my system is running fairly slowly
View 2 RepliesI know very little about Webshots. I friend had it installed on a Windows HE SP1a system,and the desktop wallpaper used to download and change at certain intervals. She now has a new SP2 system. After Installing Webshots on the new system, each time a new wallpaper is automatically downloaded, because of the SP2 security, instead of the new wallpaper replacing the old, she gets a dialog box about the dangers of downloading files from the internet, and if she accepts the download, rather than the wallpaper being automatically replaced, she gets a Save As window. I have already looked at the Webshots web site, and there is nothing about security settings that should be changed for SP2 for a fluid change of desktop wallpaper upon the automatic download timed interval. Does anyone with SP2 use Webshots for their desktop wallpaper, and know which security settings should be changed to avoid the warning messages, and have a fluid change of the desktop wallpaper, without the save as box coming up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 1terrabyte drive and I want to get my two older drives out of the tower. I made some partitions, I copied the c: drive contents to r: and I made r: active. But it won't boot when I romove c: as it doesn't see netdlr. Or is it netldr? LOL. At any rate, maybe part of the problem is that r: is now r:c:windows and not r:windows. But it took forever to copy this drive to r: and I don't want to do it again.I am using Cobian backup by the way.

Error MEssage:Swebexec.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being generated. The webshots works after you click cancel. What the heck can I do to fix this and remove the error.

If I check it and say ok it starts to work, but after shuting down and restarting, it is always unchecked. All the other option buttons stay checked. I'm running Windows Xp Pro with update 2.

Last night, I tried to upload photos, but I was prompted to confirm my email address. Entered my address, but no confirmation received. Tried again tonight, still no luck. Opened a new account, used different email address, no confirmation.Unfortunately their help section has no info on this, and I don't want to pay them money to contact their support team if the free service doesn't seem to work.

I tried to switch disks in the middle of the process. but after crashing the computer and making it unable to boot I was forced to do a repair with the wrong disk and complete the upgrade with it. NOW, I need to change the xp OS Key so I don't have an invalid install and can activate it. I tried MS Key-Update-Tool, but the program won't accept the key. PLEASE HELP.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout 4 months ago I tried to make a partition on my HD to install XP SP2 on it, while running Vista Business, which I installed on the laptop (it originally had XP), but something screwed up while making the partition and Vista was erased from my laptop and XP was installed on both partitions. When I turn on my laptop a boot screen comes on to choose which partition to boot up. I've always chosen the larger partition, I've never tried booting the other partition, I'm scared it will screw something up. All of my files are on the bigger partition, the one I always use. But I want to know how to delete the other partition so that there is only one partition and I can use the space on the partition I don't use at all. I want to do this without deleting my files if possible.

The HP recovery utility then partially ran, but disk 2 is missing from my recovery cd's. because that is not what I wanted to do. I tried booting the recovery console and running FIXMBR, but that didn't work either. I looked at the drive with Knoppix. It shows the HP recovery partition and also shows a partition that is hidden. Looking at the drive on my roommates laptop, the recovery partition is visible, but not seeing the other partition

I did make a complete backup of my hard drive prior to reinstalling. I now do not see any of the files or modem setups in my start menu. View 2 Replies View RelatedThis will sound really like a really stupid thing to have done, but basically i followed a troubleshooting article on the microsoft website to try and fix an error on my PC, (every time i shut down i get a big blue screen thing). Part of what it suggested was removing a number of files from the registry. I did this but unfortnatly i seem to have just made things worse. The error message still appears when i shutdown but now i seem to have deleted something needed for my CD drive as this now says that the regisry is corrupted in its error box. Is there any way of getting the files i deleted back ( i did not make any backups).I am running windows 2000 and the files i deleted were Cdralw2k and Cdr4_2k
