I have NO CLUE if this is some virus or something i got while trying to remove adwear or when downloading something off the internet, or whether it was my own mistake or something that wasn't done correctly... yeah.. I AM lost >.< Some times my computer just seems to stall. When i'm not doing anything, i don't notice it at all, it works just fine, but when playing a game (Just about any game), or trying to use a progam like acrobatic reader or microsoft word It seems to stall quiet often. 5-10 times every 2 minute
I am just about to enrol on an mcse course so I am playing about creating user accounts and policies on my own computer, however while logged in as myself (administrator) I added XP/All Users to the security tab of C: and placed deny access to the drive. As now I am locked out of my own drive. I assumed as I am in an adminsitrative account this would not apply to me and now when i try access security tab from c:'s properties it wont allow me
I used the wrong xp upgrade disk for my PC - I used the xp OS disk I have for my Laptop. I tried to switch disks in the middle of the process. but after crashing the computer and making it unable to boot I was forced to do a repair with the wrong disk and complete the upgrade with it. NOW, I need to change the xp OS Key so I don't have an invalid install and can activate it. I tried MS Key-Update-Tool, but the program won't accept the key. PLEASE HELP.
My was browsing around and got hijacked. AGHHHH. I seem to have IST.IST Toolbar amoung other things. I ran adaware, spybot and MS antispyware but it keeps coming back
I wanted to uninstall Windows XP, then reinstall it again because there were some errors in it. There was no uninstall option in Add/Remove programs so I installed XP (H.E) thinking that it would write over the one that was already there. Instead it installed another a second XP on the D drive and I dont know how to uninstall it
In a attempt to lock out my users from certain software....I made some lock down request using REGEDIT and now I can't use anything. I have no RUN box....I can't even open up Computer management. How do I get back into REGEDIT with no RUN box
I made a huge mistake on a friend's computer. I removed a file when a virus software told me to. Unfortunately it was wrong and it thought it was a virus. Now I have to know how I can put the file back. It is csrss.exe
I inadvertently resized my windows partition. When I attempted to reboot, I got a hal error. The HP recovery utility then partially ran, but disk 2 is missing from my recovery cd's. because that is not what I wanted to do. I tried booting the recovery console and running FIXMBR, but that didn't work either. I looked at the drive with Knoppix. It shows the HP recovery partition and also shows a partition that is hidden. Looking at the drive on my roommates laptop, the recovery partition is visible, but not seeing the other partition
It comes up in the middle of turning on with a message "Enter CURRENT Password". I tried taking it off in the setup boot menu, but think, by selecting "Clear startup password," I reset it to some default password, which I dont know. Now i cant get my computer to turn on, cause dont know the turning on password
like a fool i downloaded webshots, it seems to be riddled with adware, now no matter what i try i can't get rid. i have run ad-aware, spy-bot sd, microsoft anti spyware and i have norton 2005 but i am still suffering with the blessed pop-ups and my system is running fairly slowly
I reinstalled Windows XP Pro over the current version as I was having problems. I did a complete install instead of a repair, wasn't paying attention. I did make a complete backup of my hard drive prior to reinstalling. I now do not see any of the files or modem setups in my start menu. What files do I need to copy from the backup instead of having to reload all the programs from scratch?
This will sound really like a really stupid thing to have done, but basically i followed a troubleshooting article on the microsoft website to try and fix an error on my PC, (every time i shut down i get a big blue screen thing). Part of what it suggested was removing a number of files from the registry. I did this but unfortnatly i seem to have just made things worse. The error message still appears when i shutdown but now i seem to have deleted something needed for my CD drive as this now says that the regisry is corrupted in its error box. Is there any way of getting the files i deleted back ( i did not make any backups).I am running windows 2000 and the files i deleted were Cdralw2k and Cdr4_2k
I made a mistake when I moved into a house that doesn’t have high speed Internet. I signed up for netzero to get me through the months that I will not have high speed. I installed their software then their software downloaded some more software that is still locking my computer up on occasion, even after I have uninstalled their software. It doesn't lock it up totally it just doesn't let me run any other programs and it doesn't let me log off (even through CTRL ALT DEL). It also runs a program in called ipconfig.exe that never seems to finish running
Recently I removed all malware from a friends PC 'that I could find' with x2 spyware removal tools, sophos anti-virus app and manually looking through program files in explorer.Since doing this I have stopped all annoying pop-ups and IE is running a lot quicker but there is a RUNDLL message that I cannot get rid of: Error loading c:Documents and Settingsusername locals settings empse.dll The specified module could not be found.I have cleared out the temp file in hope that something in there was looking for se.dll but no luck.
for some reason i was under the impression that my work computer had virus protection. well... nope. i had to reload the o/s (windows 2000 pro) after the computer crashed but fortunately i lost none of my data, mostly because i keep it on a thumb drive so i can work on it at home. i now have norton AV on it and got rid of more than 14 viruses or threats, and now i am wondering if anything else was left that wasn't detected. oh, and the computer is a dell optiplex gx150 workstation.
I have removed the microsoft 6.0 from my computer by accident. How do I reinstall this program? I need to restore this so I can use a photo editing program. I don't know much about computers, so any help will be welcome.
I have a Dell XPS Gen 2 Series P4 SP1, 120 gig HD, 2GB DDR SDRAM at 400 MHZ, SP1 updated with all updates and hotfixes except SP2. I downloaded SP2 and tried to install it, got a failure on install about half way through, and it proceded to uninstall what it had installed. Only problem, it uninstalled more than it should have. Media Player won't work, had version 9 of it, d/l Ver.10 and tried to install, but it says that my previous files are newer than the files
Quite some time ago I ran windows defender and it removed my CD burner and my photo and imagine gallery where I could change the size of pictures and other things. I un installed windows defender before I realized they were gone. Anyway to get them back without doing a system recovery?
Well all of a sudden, whenever i delete something, it doesn't ask me if i am sure i want to delete this item, it just deletes it. and if i look it my recycling bin, there is nothing there. i have ad-aware see updated and spybot s&d updated and fixed the problems.
Recycle bin does not display any files after I remove some files. However, the properties of recycle bin are in normal setting which means that the removed files will not be deleted immediately. Thus, I do not why that happen.
I have XP and trialled Microsoft Office 2007 for 3mths. The trial period expired and I went back to my old OE6. I decided to uninstall the trial Office 07 as I couldn't afford to purchase it, but now Outlook Express has disappeared? Where are all my emails, address book etc?
I have a Dimension 4700 and I was recently going through my add/remove programs list trying to clean up and get rid of some programs I didn't use anymore(like google earth, partypoker, etc) and I came across Yahoo Download Manager and figured I didn't need it and right when I clicked remove my computer shuts down, I am not sure how anything in this would have that kind of effect on my computer from removing, or if it was just a coincidence. I go to reboot it and get the blue screen error message Stop C000021a and below gives me another error- f 0xc0000135.
I have spyware that is in my registry. I have run spybot & adware but cannot get this spyware to be removed. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to find spyware in my registry? Where it is located?
I have contracted the virus dr32.exe.Error message says: C:WINDOWSSystem32dr32.exe..Also error message says C:WINDOWSSystem32cmd.exe..."Access denied".Also Error loading rm32'dll.Also I have 2 error messages which says a virus in present. I have the "heal" these before the system is fully open. It then syas virus healed. There is also a program running which I have to stop and delete in the shutdown process. How do I rid myself of this. I somehow removed some of the Accessories programs like games and Paint. I need the paint program. But when I tried to reinstall it in the Control Panel, it told me I need the Window XP CD-ROM which I dont have right now.
I got hijacked the other night and ran a program to remove the bad programs. They have all been removed from the system according to the program but I am still having trouble opening files and folders including My Computer and Control Panel. I think this may be because, I've heard, hijacking software alters certain things on the computer so that you can't simply access the control panel and undo all of the trouble it has caused. The error message that I recieve every time I try to open files, folders, etc. reads:
"explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed. You will have to restart the program. An error log is being created." The computer will occassionally freeze up after I click ok.
