I installed the new version of Webshots Desktops the "Use Webshots wallpaper on desktop" option button will not stay checked. If I check it and say ok it starts to work, but after shuting down and restarting, it is always unchecked. All the other option buttons stay checked. I'm running Windows Xp Pro with update 2.

I just ran Defrag and got the image as shown above after completion of the defrag. It does not look like anything happened, maybe even worse than before defrag. Any ideas as to how I can get a good defrag on this machine or what is happening here. I have run two malware applications or programs and my antivirus. Nothing there it appears to be clean.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI just acquired a used toshiba M45. Windows XP-home. In attempts to "clean" the drive, I encountered the problem with no "change/remove" button option in control panel. I followed the advice found here to change values in the registry as outlined at . The problem is that when I get to the final branch of uninstall in the registry, there are no programs listed there to change the value. I can't find any solution here, or with mr. google.

Error MEssage:Swebexec.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being generated. The webshots works after you click cancel. What the heck can I do to fix this and remove the error.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI know very little about Webshots. I friend had it installed on a Windows HE SP1a system,and the desktop wallpaper used to download and change at certain intervals. She now has a new SP2 system. After Installing Webshots on the new system, each time a new wallpaper is automatically downloaded, because of the SP2 security, instead of the new wallpaper replacing the old, she gets a dialog box about the dangers of downloading files from the internet, and if she accepts the download, rather than the wallpaper being automatically replaced, she gets a Save As window. I have already looked at the Webshots web site, and there is nothing about security settings that should be changed for SP2 for a fluid change of desktop wallpaper upon the automatic download timed interval. Does anyone with SP2 use Webshots for their desktop wallpaper, and know which security settings should be changed to avoid the warning messages, and have a fluid change of the desktop wallpaper, without the save as box coming up?

Last night, I tried to upload photos, but I was prompted to confirm my email address. Entered my address, but no confirmation received. Tried again tonight, still no luck. Opened a new account, used different email address, no confirmation.Unfortunately their help section has no info on this, and I don't want to pay them money to contact their support team if the free service doesn't seem to work.

Recently noticed that when I left-click on any of the icons of the Hard-disk drives and/or Devices with Removable Storage within 'My Computer', the 'Search' Option opens up by default instead of the 'Open' option, like in other folders. Likewise, when I right-click on the said icons, the 'Search' option is topmost & the 'Open' option has been relegated to second position. I would like the Search option to come first. Can't remember whether this was so from before or changed recently.
I have used Norton Partition Magic 8 recently to resize my partitions.
I recently reloaded windows XP and there is no button on the Start Menu to allow me to log out and swap to another user.

It works but the problem is after about a min or so the monitor comes back on. there are no screen savers set up. i even tried the power options and set the monitor to power off after 1 min but it doesn't. with the power options seems to have worked before.

Thinking SP 3 updates might have caused the problem I uninstalled it - no difference. Does anyone know a solution to this problem and/or what causes it? The problem exists on a new Toshiba laptop that I recently bought.It's XP home, and I put SP2 on it. Here's a description of the problem: Let's say that I've got an IE website open, and I want to delete a file. I right click on the file, and then click delete, and everything's fine. I get the little window that says "do you want to delete this file", and, as I move my pointer to click OK, as soon as the pointer gets into the desktop area, the delete window disappears. In order to keep it "on top", I've gotta close out or minimize the IE window. It's the same no matter what file or folder I open. As soon as the pointer enters the desktop, the file or folder disappears. It won't stay "on top". I've tried to find a way to keep the current file/folder "on top", but haven't found one.

Now, I have two back up hdds and I they never format for some reason, so I was going to do it with the XP installer disc.. but I couldn't really figure out how to completely format/whipe any of my backup drives so I just cancelled out. Now, I loaded up my main disk and my DISPLAY was all sorts of messed up. So I reinstalled my NvIdia drivers.. they work. BUT EVERY TIME I RESTART it goes back to being all kinds of messed up. And when I say messed up I mean the resolution is terrible and everything is all big and slow.

I had this problem happen with an Asus motherboard. Checked all of the setting in the bios.
I get the message 'no sound device installed', when I try to play music. when I try to install the 'on board sound device', i get the message.' sound device installed and working properly, would like to uninstall it?(it does not show up in 'device manager'), so I click on yes to uninstall, and then reboot the computer, get the 'new device found' etc. and I install the drivers etc. then everything works. untill I turn off the computer and then there is no sound again. This happens every time I turn off the computer.

I can right click on the taskbar>toolbars>and uncheck 'language bar' but every time I restart the machine the language bar is back on the taskbar. Anyone know how to keep this from happening. It's not too big a problem, it just adds clutter to my taskbar that I don't want there.

My problem is when i go into exp. it opens and goes to where i tell it to, then is stops, freezes and then an error box comes up saying they have encounter an error and must shut down. It also says that if i continue to have this problem, to restart my computer. Well i have restarted my computer 4 times and the same thing keeps happening. I have run the Adware program i have and have found some bugs there, but it doesn't seem like that is what the problem is.

It doesn't come up in msconfig and when I close the program completely, about 2 minutes later it opens back up by itself! I have checked all options and see no reason for this to be happening.

I've enabled it more than once via the procedure listed at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919291/en-us but eventually (like after logoff/logon or reboot) it's disabled again. I even set Recovery to Restart on Failure and Logon as local system account. Virus is unlikely with Spyware Blaster, SpyBot, NAV 2007, and Ad-Aware SE protecting it.

I have unchecked the auto update, unchecked the internet time, changed the time zone and changed it back, went into BIOS and changed it there, d/l the Windows XP (KB931836), and d/l the latest SP2. It will not stay changed.
