See Each Other And Stay Connected Through Web Cam?
Jul 16, 2005
I have a web cam in my house and a web cam in my mother's house. We both use Windows Xp,is there any way we can see each other and stay connected through web cam? Is there any free product we can use?
I have this problem at my work computer, on that one we run Windows XP. Verizon DSL for the last 2 days I have not been able to stay connected to the internet for more than 5 or 6 minutes. then I hafto reboot ran the virus thing the adware thing and the spyware thing but no improvement contacted Verizon to check my line but they said everything looked ok
I have G speedbooster router and setup MAC address and WPA with password. My laptop can access fine. I have emachines t2882 with xp and USB wireless g speedbooster adapter. I can access internet when plugging in computer lan to lan on router. When using wireless usb, I key in code and says I am connected and green lights show, but when pulling up explorer, it says no connected? Device manager shows device is working properly.I tried setting up automatically assign IP's on the computer and got same result, and put in specific IP I have assigned from the router to this computer with same results as well.Again, looks like I am connected, but explorer does not seem to recognize I am connected.
I uses a laptop as a workstation. i uses it to get online from here at the school and at home. Recently, i can surf fine from work but when gets home when i plugs into network and gets all the signs of connectivity but when using the internet explorer, i only gets the "Work Offline" option and is unable to use the internet. I have a wireless connection set up as well as the regular ethernet connection. I usually only uses the ethernet port and rarely uses the wireless connection but both are running simultaneously.
the dial up worked fine until i took my computer to the high speed net at work. when i got the computer back i hooked it back up and dialed up it connected then i tried to view my webpage. it said page cant be displayed. my downloader was disconnected to. i had all the signs i was not connected to the internet but i was.
I have been using the Nircmd program to execute a command to turn my monitor off so i could use my ati all in wonder remote plus to turn my monitor off from accross the room. It works but the problem is after about a min or so the monitor comes back on. there are no screen savers set up. i even tried the power options and set the monitor to power off after 1 min but it doesn't. with the power options seems to have worked before.
After downloading the program called winsesame and installing it,then removing it,I lost my task bar and all my icons.my antivirus told me that there was a virus.I ran the antivirus and cleaned the computer.I still cannot get explorer.exe to stay up.I use task manager to put it up,it tries but does not stay.it keeps coming down as if it is missing something to keep it running.
When I hibernate my laptop, it goes into hibernation and the in a couple of minutes, comes back out of it on it's own.I recently installed System Mechanic and, at its suggestion, updated to Win SP 3. Thinking SP 3 updates might have caused the problem I uninstalled it - no difference. Does anyone know a solution to this problem and/or what causes it? Until recently it all worked as it's supposed to.
I've got this problem. It's a little problem, but quite annoying. It's only present on one of my 3 PC's. The problem exists on a new Toshiba laptop that I recently bought. It's XP home, and I put SP2 on it. Here's a description of the problem: Let's say that I've got an IE website open, and I want to delete a file. I right click on the file, and then click delete, and everything's fine. I get the little window that says "do you want to delete this file", and, as I move my pointer to click OK, as soon as the pointer gets into the desktop area, the delete window disappears. In order to keep it "on top", I've gotta close out or minimize the IE window. It's the same no matter what file or folder I open. As soon as the pointer enters the desktop, the file or folder disappears. It won't stay "on top". I've tried to find a way to keep the current file/folder "on top", but haven't found one.
I built my comp four months ago and everything has been running surprisingly well. Now, I have two back up hdds and I they never format for some reason, so I was going to do it with the XP installer disc.. but I couldn't really figure out how to completely format/whipe any of my backup drives so I just cancelled out. Now, I loaded up my main disk and my DISPLAY was all sorts of messed up. So I reinstalled my NvIdia drivers.. they work. BUT EVERY TIME I RESTART it goes back to being all kinds of messed up. And when I say messed up I mean the resolution is terrible and everything is all big and slow.
If you turn off the system windows xp used with the GA-K8NSC-939 motherboard by using start and then shut down, does the mouse and keyboards stay on after the system is Off? I had this problem happen with an Asus motherboard. Checked all of the setting in the bios.
I get the message 'no sound device installed', when I try to play music. when I try to install the 'on board sound device', i get the message.' sound device installed and working properly, would like to uninstall it?(it does not show up in 'device manager'), so I click on yes to uninstall, and then reboot the computer, get the 'new device found' etc. and I install the drivers etc. then everything works. untill I turn off the computer and then there is no sound again. This happens every time I turn off the computer.
This may seem petty but here goes. There is a 'Language bar' toolbar on the taskbar. I can right click on the taskbar>toolbars>and uncheck 'language bar' but every time I restart the machine the language bar is back on the taskbar. Anyone know how to keep this from happening. It's not too big a problem, it just adds clutter to my taskbar that I don't want there.
I am running a dell 4600 computer. I have windows xp home addition. My problem is when i go into exp. it opens and goes to where i tell it to, then is stops, freezes and then an error box comes up saying they have encounter an error and must shut down. It also says that if i continue to have this problem, to restart my computer. Well i have restarted my computer 4 times and the same thing keeps happening. I have run the Adware program i have and have found some bugs there, but it doesn't seem like that is what the problem is.
My icons on my desktop stay permanantly highlighted for some reason. I ran spybot, NAV, Adware, and Pest Patrol and cleaned up a few spyware and adware programs, but nothing seems to help out the icon situation. Here is a picture if you want to see what it looks like- http://pspdownloadguide.com/images/myscreen.gif
I cannot keep mu CD/dvd Rom tray shut. It immediately opens up after closing it. I have a Gateway mid-tower PC. 500 Mhz processor. Has a Toshiba CD/dvd and TDK DVDRW and 640mb ram.
I've searched everywhere I can but maybe I'm searching the wrong name but here is the problem. When in certain programs, particularly Photoshop but there are others, when I click on the Open selection then try and use a drop down menu to navigate to the correct location of the file I'm looking for, the menu just flashes then goes away.
The option in LimeWire PRO is unchecked to startup at system boot but it still starts up. No big deal right? But here is the strange thing. It doesn't come up in msconfig and when I close the program completely, about 2 minutes later it opens back up by itself! I have checked all options and see no reason for this to be happening.
We're on xp sp2. When I check Windows Security Center, it is often disabled. I've enabled it more than once via the procedure listed at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919291/en-us but eventually (like after logoff/logon or reboot) it's disabled again. I even set Recovery to Restart on Failure and Logon as local system account. Virus is unlikely with Spyware Blaster, SpyBot, NAV 2007, and Ad-Aware SE protecting it.
I have done EVERYTHING to figure out WHY my computer clock will NOT stay chaged since the new DST has taken effect. I have unchecked the auto update, unchecked the internet time, changed the time zone and changed it back, went into BIOS and changed it there, d/l the Windows XP (KB931836), and d/l the latest SP2. It will not stay changed.
whenever i try to open regedit (the registery editor) does not stay open. i need to delete lines from it since i have recently had a virus but it will not stay open for me to do so.
My msconfig, task manager and my device manager do not stay open. I have already copied and renamed my msconfig and my task manager so I can view them but I would like my computer to be back to normal. Below is my hijack log.
Ok so I have this computer.. and I wanted to just kill a few processes running ... but I can't get the task manager up.. so I was going to just take them off the start up list.... but I can't get the MSconfig to say open either.
I installed the new version of Webshots Desktops the "Use Webshots wallpaper on desktop" option button will not stay checked. If I check it and say ok it starts to work, but after shuting down and restarting, it is always unchecked. All the other option buttons stay checked. I'm running Windows Xp Pro with update 2.
i cant cause it wont stay one will try to starts normal but then when it hits the xp window it will die off and re boot =/ just starts w/ the dell screen! She told me she dont have no anti-virus no spyware cleaner in other words is open to hackers ,rootkits and virus
I searched around the forums and didnt find any thread relating to my problem. I searched around the internet as well and found similiar issues but none with a solid solution. I was hoping to find one here. My problem deals with the Power Scheme in Windows XP Pro SP2. When I try to set the amount of time before my monitor turns off, it doesnt work properly. After the specified time has elapsed, the monitor would go dark and it would say "Monitor is going into sleep mode" which is normal for my monitor (HP f2105 wide flat screen lcd). But then just as it sleeps, about 1 second later, my windows desktop appears like it never went to sleep at all. When I move my mouse I notice my desktop flickers for a split second.Similiar threads on the net suggested there were some third party programs that is keeping my system active or things like my mouse sensitivity moving etc. I tried removing all my perperphials but it still doesnt seem to work.
I recently reformatted my machine and installed the essentional programs/windows updates/etc. I run on a ATI X1950 PRO 512MB video card and installed the new Catalyst 7.12 software package for my drivers. Everything was working perfectly. The Monitor turn off option even worked then.... until I noticed this new driver package seems to be a bit buggy. My monitor would turn black as I would be viewing videos off the internet with my WMP or whatever Im using and all I am left to do is reset by pressing my power button or switching the PSU button (Although strangely, 3D applications ran flawlessly). So I got an earlier version Catalyst 7.10 and installed that and everything is working awesome again... execpt the Power Scheme mode to turn off my monitor. I am unclear on why it would be doing this by just installing another set of drivers for my video card. I am assuming there is some mix up in some file somewhere thats still being used, but thats just pure guessing now.
I recall even before I reformatted I had the *SAME* issue. I was using video drivers 7.8 or so without any problems and decided to update to the latest 7.12 and thats when I *FIRST* noticed that power scheme monitor turn off didnt work any longer. So I decided it was time to do a fresh clean install and I used the Catalyst 7.12 and it worked with the power scheme option. Its this transition between drivers or something... or perhaps ATIs drivers are faultly at the moment and it'll fix itself with future updates... but then again other people around the net with similiar problems didnt have ATI video cards, they had Nvidia.I am assuming it has to do with my video drivers somehow since thats the last thing I installed/changed before the problem appeared. I went into MSCONFIG and diagnostic startup and checked to see if my power scheme monitor turn off worked there and it did..I was hoping to find an easier solution rather then narrowing down each and every startup application/services in MSCONFIG and then figuring out why its doing this all just to turn off my monitor.
Just recently, all my outgoing faxs fails ~ they just stay pending in the outbox !! My modem is ok ~ able to receive fax and connect to the Internet. "Apa tak kena?" (In Malay, that means 'what is wrong?')
I figured I could search this problem up and find it here... I did.. NUMEROUS times... but my problem is.my HiJackThis program doesnt stay open either! I managed to get a logfile made.not sure how complete it is... before HiJackThis was shut down... heres the file.
I cannot get the autohide for the taskbar to continue to work. When applying the autohide it does hide until you put the mouse pointer down to the taskbar then it reappears and will not rehide even if you click on the desktop. Is there another setting that is conflicting this one?
AVG Anti-Spyware is "Grey" & Won't stay on task bar? I have AVG Anti-Spyware Free edition and I can't get it to stay on my task bar. When I run the spyware it will go on the task bar but its "Grey" instead of of the colorful icon it should be.I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still I get same results?
