The folders contain links to my most popular programs.I want pictograms for these shortcuts, but the view changes to details al the time.Also the window size is changed.Tried everything in folder options, but I can't invoke the problem.

While using the computer, for example using IE on the internet: all of my desktop icons and access to anything ie. start menu and right click on desktop no longer works. I can continue using the IE open window, but to get my other programs back I have to shut down. The desktop wallpaper still remains.

Regardless of whatever choice I make I always get a white background.Avast Anti-viruss scan found no viruses and 'Malwarebytes' found no malware. I tried System Restore' but it cannot restore.I turned off and on the PC, unplugged it from the mains but to no avail.The problem started after removing some malware using Ad-Aware.

I'm not sure when they disappeared, but most likely when I had a virus. I've gotten rid of the virus, but the Screen Saver is gone.
I'm running Windows XP, of course. How can I get my tabs back?
I have a computer that I formatted the hard drive on. Then installed Windows XP Pro. When it boots up, it goes to a black screen and has Windows XP Pro and Windows XP listed with the Win XP Pro selected and boots to it in 15 seconds or so if nothing is selected. I have read somewhere about this before and have NO clue where I read it, but does anyone know how to get rid of the option (Win XP) that really doesn't even exist on the hard drive?

I thought I'd clean it up, so that is working out great, the seller didn't leave too much on there...but everytime it restarts I have the option to run windows 2000 or run windows 2000 setup.how to make it start up normally?

Ive tried selecting both options and it boots up normally into Xp, but then when i boot up again or restart the comp the same screen appears every time

Recently, I had to use the command "bootcfg /rebuild", which fixed a booting problem I was experiencing. However, now it asks what OS I'd like to boot from every time. The problem: It shows "Microsoft XP Home Edition" Twice. Is there any way to fix this and to just allow XP to boot automatically every time without prompt?

Usually my name comes up and I can click on it to log on, but only the blue screen with the windows logo appears. now whenever i open my pc, my desktop and taskbar and start menu,etc goes away after a few seconds! Now i rely on the task manager..
Several unwanted desktop icons appeared recently (I think they come via Search2000 when IE is used). They won't right-click for deletion, nor will they allow themselves to be drop-dragged to the recycle bin. They don't appear in the desktop icon list when using the desktop cleanup feature.

i have XP pro I have one limited account and my account is Administrator. Now when I use Ineternet Explorer and select internet options on the tools menu, it says that it is restricted and the see an administrator. I am not sure how to set this back to default settings.

There Windows XP (which I usually click), a Skeleton Boot (some boot screen program I was screwing with), another Windows XP (haven't used it, maybe a previous installation?), and some other windows option that my computer first came with.
Anyways, I know that I only use the first one so is there a way to eliminate the other 3 from the menu? Ideally I would like to not even see the menu when I boot the computer, I'd like it to just go through to windows. I thought I remembered seeing a control panel or some settings for that area somewhere but I can't remember where.

I have checked SYSTEM32 and there is inetcpl (control panel extension file) and inetcplc.dll. I have tried opening Internet Options in Run, no luck.
