I am using windows XP for last 2-3 years.My folder option has disappeared from the menu "View" and does not show any result when I double click folder options in the control panel.I thought I have virus in my PC but i have cleaned it with the help of antivirus and your forum.
View 5 RepliesI have had the Ad Watch bug and get the "create an association in the Folder Options" error message when trying to open a program. Nothing will open and all exe.and lnk. files are missing from Folder Options. When I try to create new exe. files and new lnk files, the "apply" button is not highlighted so it will not save. I can make other changes and the button is there but it still won't save the exe changes
View 14 Replies View RelatedThe blue one day I cannot access Internet Options from the tools menu in IE7 on Vista Ultimate. I also cannot open Internet options from the control panel. When I click on it nothing happens. I tried to run Spybot. I tried running IE7 as administrator and it says: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator. I checked and IE7 has full permissions and no restrictions. I am also logged in as an administrator. I tried sfc /scannow in an elivated command prompt and it said it found errors but couldn't fix them. I also ran system restore and it cannot restore anything no matter what date I choose. Can anyone explain what suddenly happened to my Vista out of the blue? I run the latest Mcafee by the way.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDell xps 400, pentium2.80 ghz dual core, 1 gig ram, win xp media center op sys. Just bought a new microsoft cordless mouse with usb connection for transmitter. With mouse plugged in my monitor will not power down after the amount of minutes I have set in power options nor will it go to screen saver if I choose a screen saver which I did just to test. So, I turned off screen saver and just chose in the power option panel to turn off monitor after five minutes, chose to hibernate never or suspend never. Will not work with mouse plugged in, but will work if I unplug mouse.

View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery time I open a window now, I get a "folder list" (explorer?) to the right and inside the window proper. I have tried clicking and un-clicking just about every option in the folders options list under "View". I eben click apply changes to all windows, I have clicked and unclicked "Remember each window's view settings".I even unclick the folders button on the tool bar of the window, and close the window, hoping the window will remember I don't want the folder list displayed, still no luck.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA couple of things are driving me insane.When I press F8 regardless of my choice the system will allow me to boot only in normal mode. I.E. If I choose "Safe mode with command prompt" and hit enter, the next screen shows first line "Please select the operating system to start" second line "Windows XP professional" highlighted, third line "Use the up and down key to... Press enter to choose" and at the bottom "For troubleshooting and advanced startup options press F8" and the last line, in highlighted blue "Safe mode with command prompt". I then press enter and after scrolling thru all the lines the system reboots to the F8 boot options.Only "boot in normal mode" gets me out of the loop.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWindows XP service pack 2.I have a churches computer that was infected with "INFOSTEALER", "TROJAN.VB.jy" and "DOWNLOADER.CRYPTIC.f" that I volunteered to try to fix.I searched the threads and followed the instructions listed to remove them and was successful. Thankyou for the help.But still have the issue of not being able to change the "FOLDER OPTIONS"/ "VIEW"/ "HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS" selection has both "DO NOT SHOW---" and "SHOW HIDDEN-" selected. If I select either one it will stay only as long as I do not close the Folder Options box. As soon as it is closed it will again default back to both hide and show.I cannot find any threads with this issue except the mention in the one thread about "INFOSTEALER" that I used to get me this far. What did I miss?

And if I open My Computer, right-click on the hard disk and go to Properties, it shows ~26GB of Used Space and ~4GB of Free Space. However, I do not understand what is taking up so much space. It is a new PC with very little data.Furthermore, if I 'Select All' on the contents of C:, and right-click for the properties of all files and folders, the Size on Disk only equals 11.6 GB, which seems more reasonable. (FYI, I have already set 'show hidden files and directories' in Folder Options)

and the folder I was in became hidden. I cleared the box for hide folders but it is still hidden.

Now whenever I go to open a folder, it opens a new window for that folder, even though [Folder Options] is set to browse in one window. And I have tried EVERYTHING, and know the only possible solution is to set the paramaters for [File Types].

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I open up the Start Menu on one of the accounts, there is nothing in the left-hand column. When I right click and get the Properties, and try to Customize the Menu, the options don't save, and I'm stuck with nothing. I've tried clicking on the Internet radio button for "Show on Start Menu". I click Ok, then Apply, and Finally Ok again. But when I go back to the menu, it still has nothing in the left-hand column.
The second thing I've noticed was under Folder Options -> View, I tried to check both the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" button, and also un-check "Hide extensions for Known File Types" and click on Apply, then Ok again. But still, these options don't save and are reset back to "Do not show hidden files", and "hide extensions".
i have window xp working fine but i have problem that i cant see the hiddien files that i have made that no one can have acess to them but now when i check the option that show hidden file but when i exit the folder option it remain same file remain hidden. if some one know is it virus or some other problem.
