Getting Svchost.exe - Application Error / Unable To Remove?

The memory could not be "read".Click on OK to terminate the program."I have no idea what the problem could possibly be; it COULD be the work of some virus/worm/whatever, but I'm not sure. I'm using Windows XP Media Center on a Toshiba Satellite A105... I don't have a lot of options. Reformatting is not one of them. I have a lot (hundreds of gigs) of important files that I simply cannot lose just because svchost decided to crash one day.

The memory could not be "read".Click OK to terminate the program.I keep getting these messages all the time but the numbers keep changing. it started when i my sister started typing something. the day before she had also spent all night typing. now i get that message for everything.Don't know what to do. I tryed disabling automatic updates and then updating it manually on website but when try i get redirected to Google.

I am having problems with Automatic Updates and I keep getting the following error:
svchost.exe -- application error the instruction at "0x745f2780" reference memory at "0x00000000". the memory could not be 'read'
I have tried numerous fixes and it will not work. I tried turning off AU and manually installing the updates but it just hangs up. It is only the Office 2003 updates that did not update.

Xp sp2. WHen my system slows, I check TaskMgr. The main thing i notice, is that there are 6 or 7 seven tasks named svchost.exe. Is this normal? What does svchost.exe do?

I'm trying to upgrade my Mom's computer from ME to XP Home and the install quits after the first reboot, with an error mesage that "HALACPI.dll cannot be found." (As an aside, if it is required for installation, shouldn't it be on the CD?!) I've located the file on the web, and placed it in the C:WINDOWS SYSTEM32hal.ddl folder (the folder was already present, but empty). I have no idea if this is where it belongs or if it will solve the problem, but I'd like to ask BEFORE I try the installation again - I do have a Ghost image of the hdd, but - getting old having to reinstall the image again and again!

while using the Windows XP Setup disk to partition the new drive, I accidentally used the "Create Partition and Install Windows XP" option, instead of just creating the partition. Unsurprisingly, Windows freaked out at having two copies installed on the computer, and it took me quite a while to salvage the thing so it would boot. I ended up using the second Windows install (on D: on the new disk), and left the old, unworking Windows install (on C:) dead on the original Western Digital drive.

While attempting to Remove an application, receieved a message with the heading: Windows O/OS Installation & the Message:
"Warning: Windows XP Service Pack 2 is not installed on your PC.This Service Pack is required. Please install Service Pack 2 as soon as possible. Service Packs may be obtained via Windows Update"
My PC would NOT let me complete the Removal.
I went to Windows Update, but could only find a Professional Version of XP Service Pack 2.

I have a Dell 6400 laptop that is less than a year old and have had no problems up to now, and I could use some help. Each time log in. When i log in,it shows unable to find SVCHOST.exe.Please check the path of the file. Previously,i ended the svchost.exe process suspecting it for virus.From then on am having this problem.In Start menu i have lost some utilities like paint,calculator.

I had a virus problem which was solved in security forum. Later a fresh problem started with MS office 2K. When ever I started any office application windows installer window popped up & the application started freezing up.I tried to un-install the Office Suite through Add/Remove programmes but same problem occured.So i tried un-installation by eraser2K programme,which did the un-installation.Now I am unable to re-install Office suite.

I get INST32.EXE Application Error Box with Message Application failed to intialize (0xc0000006) Click Ok to terminate . push OK twice to remove box. I am trying to load my Printmaster Platinum 7.0 or 8.0 and neighter will load. I have been trying to get this fixed for over 3 weeks. Nothing I have found will work.

Good morning, I have a couple of problems and I can't figure out how to get my computer back to where it used to be. I think it has something to do with updating windows. I get messages everytime I try to open a photo or a file. One message is Explorer EXE-Application Error, The instruction of ox600470a4 referenced memory at ox600470a4. The memory could not be written. Click on ok to terminate the program, click on cancel to debug the program. I clicked on debug and the program I got a message about Dr. Watson trying to communicate with ? and I clicked ok. Then the photo closed and all the icons disappeared and the reappeared. When I opened the same photo again, I got the following message. Data Execution Prevention-Microsoft Windows to help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program and also Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close, etc. Again the program shuts down. Basically, I can't open anything without the error messages. I can't copy cd's either as I have in the past with Nero. The program starts and then I get a read message or the cd just will not copy. Is there a way that I can do a restore and have my computer back to where it was 3 weeks ago? I could do that with my old computer Windows 98se. I have a HP Media M7060n now and I have XP home edition. Up to now I have had no problems. This computer is very different from my old one and I have no clue how I would do a restore. I just want a restore from 3 weeks ago, not a complete restore. I think the problem has to do with a windows update. I think I did one just before these problems occured. I lost my virus protection and had to reinstall it. I thought maybe that was the problem so I uninstalled it, but that wasn't it. So..here I am very frustrated. The other day my PC started shutting down and restarting for no apparent reason. I have added no new programs or hardware. Then a couple of hours later it started behaving normally even though I did nothing.Now each time I turn it on, it starts normally except that I get the following message: "CC App.exe -- Unable to locate component This application has failed to start because MAPI32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." What or where is this component and how do I re-install it?

I get the following error evry time my Windows XP Media Center PC boots

I cannot get it to boot in safe mode but I can boot to a DOS prompt in the Microsoft Windows Recovery console.

After having the comp for a week or so (got it from a friend for cheap, in perfect condition) any time i try opening a program such as Word, the Open With screens pops up, and i have to find the program manually and open it. when try to open anything in the control panal, such as add/remove programs, an error pops up that reads:

I just bought a HP Laptop Computer and it has installed in it, Works for Windows. When I try to run the word processor part it come up with this message:

Error from any application that tries to access the Internet. This includes IE, the Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Limeware, uTorrent, any application, the moment I try to access the Interent with it. For example, I'll get the error the moment I try to log on with MSN, but not when I initially launch the messenger. However, if I don't actually click the Don't Send button, the applications work just fine...The problem has started when I accidently turned off the PC without a proper shut down.I don't actually get the errors in Safe Mode, but then again, I have no internet connection there.

This is a past post that someone else posted but I'm having the same problem and I did not understand the solution. Here is what he put:"Windows won't start up on my badly-infected WinXP PIV. It gets past the logging on to windows prompt and then this error message comes up userinit.exe application error (0xc0000005) and Windows then fails to load completely. This also occurs in safe mode and I haven't been able to bypass Windows and boot directly to DOS by using the F8 key on startup."
