Downloading New Colour Schemes / Changing The Appearence Settings?
Sep 6, 2005
Is it possible to download new Windows Colour Schemes. do they have them anywhere online?I mean the colour scheme of the taskbars and windows that you change in the appearence settings. (Windows classic, Teal, Brick, maple etc.) I don't really like any of the schemes, but I don't want to bother with Style XP, or Windows Blinds or any of those programs again.
My screen keeps flashing and changing colour to a dark horrible colour, It's been doing this for a while but lately seems to be doing it more often and wont change back to what it should be like. Any idea's what the problem could be?
I've been using the same old grey colour since Win95 and would like a different colour. What's the best way of going about it? I've just installed the XP Zune theme from Microsoft from here: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=75078 and it looks pretty good but does it use up more memory or CPU time than the classic theme?
Yes I realize this is a very dumb question XDD. I still need an answer.I've went to -->Properties-->Display and still can't find where you specifically change the font colour on the desktop.
i am wanting to know when i am in a website and i want to open the file it downloads to the temporary file location and then nothing. It doesnt open or anything how do i get it to either change the file location where it goes to or just to open...
I wanted to change some settings for remote assistance and all I get is what is in the first attached thumbnail. I think windowsXP is supposed to have what is in the second attached thumbnail. Any idea why mine does not show all this?
sometimes after re-boot windows it changes my theme settings from classic > default... and its starting to drive me crazy.. never had this problem ever before on any of my systems.. but I now own a c2d 6600.. system properties > use visual styles on windows and buttons = OFF properties > themes = windows classic properties > apperance = windows classic style.
It happens to have the dnserror.htm and also my PC acts very strange. I have a broadband internet connection and some times i get this error and some other times it takes very long to load a site. Also, my IIS settings keep changing almost every time i start/restart my PC and that its a pain because I work on it very much.I am very concerned about it. I read in this forum that you advised some other member to run the program (Hijackthis) and to post the results in this forum.
In documents and settings a folder has been named after the old manager of this shop. How can I change the name to something else? In this folder are .java, cookies, and desktop folders.
I am running Windows Xp professional.Until recently my computer was working fine. But then i got GAIN from i think some codec i got online, and then my cpu usage used to jump up to 100% quite frequently. I attempted to look online as to how to remove GAIN from my computer,It has some changes to the registry which i did without making backup of it. So now my login screen will not appear i can not get into any mode, i.e. safe mode i cant restore my computer (even though i dont want to) because system restore is off
New machine and new to XP - have noticed that the supplier of new m/c has used our very distinctive surname to name the system folder under Documents and Settings when installing XP Home. Can we change this as it seems to be appearing in a lot of situations - is it possible that this might be transmitted out onto the internet via emails etc. or web surfing - will we get "personally addressed" spam as a result? Tried "rename" but of course it says it cannot be done as it is a System folder"
Normally I would go to the control panel, then hit display, then screen saver. At the bottom there is a butten to control power. I used to have several options as to when to go stand by etc. It is all gone. Can someone tell me how to get that back. It is running one of the schemes now but there is nothing shown. This is on XP.
I am not sure how this happened, but it did anyway. During my problem with system restore, I created my own power scheme called test. I have noticed that I am missing some power schemes now when I try to access them using the power options choice on control panel. I am missing "always on" "presentation" "minimal power management" and "max battery".I don't know why they don't appear in the drop down menu under power schemes as "home/office" and "portable/laptop" and my "test" schemes are there.I have found these schemes exist in my registry in several locations by typing "powercfg" in the registry editor.Hopefully someone will know how to restore them. Is there an *.inf file to right click to reinstall? I found a bunch, just not sure which one it might be.
i can't adjust my power schemes in my power options--i've got my monitor shutting itself off after 10 minutes, always have , just recently got a new 3d screen saver and tried to adjust the shut off time & i can't change any of the setting in power schemes. where it usually has the option home / office / laptop, etc its black and won't let me adjust anything seems strange.
I have reset my power settings, many times, to never turn off. I have tried setting a special scheme. I have reset rcgfrestore.reg, and savesettings.reg per KellysKorner items # 204 right, and #30. After going online for a while, "turn off monitor" changes from "never" to "15 minutes", and "turn off hard drive" changes from "never" to "1 hour". So far, I am unable to determine what triggers this change.I am using XP MCE, fully updated with Athlon 64 3500.
Windows XP has only three color schemes to choose from. I wondered if there was a way to add new color schemes (and for that matter, a place to specifically find new color schemes) without installing software like Style XP or WindowBlinds. I just want to configure the color scheme, not everything else. Can this be done?
Is their any way to change the windows color schemes. Im sick of the three colors blue, silver, and green. Can someone tell me how to get more colors. (I just want new colors not a whole new theme).
when i switched it on, i couldn't see my wallpaper, but just a black screen. I tried changing it back to the wallpaper, but even though the wallpaper seemed to change, i still could only see a black screen. The wallpaper is there, because when i close a game it appears for a second, then gets back to the black screen. It's like it is being covered by the background colour. Everything is still working fine, and i can use all the icons on my desktop, however a black desktop is very annoying
What is the name of the display element for a highlighted item in Windows Explorer for when Explorer does NOT have the focus? In the standard XP them(blue) the highlight colour is a strong blue while Explorer has the focus. When it loses the focus it becomes a very pale mushroom that is almost impossible for me to see.I would like to change that but cannot find the correct display element in Display properties/appearance/advanced.
How do you copy power schemes for one profile (the Admin or Setup profile) across all profiles that log on to that machine. Users are created in the standard folders under documents and settings, however their windows settings seem to be setup via some sort of profile creation script that windows uses. I have tried copying profile information from the setup profile to default and all users profiles... but it seems to make no difference. What I am looking to do is to keep all users profiles constantly ON, instead of standby after 20 min without changing each profile each time a new one is created.
Power Schemes stopped working - no longer turn off screen or system..I recently reinstalled XP and got the latest update.I've noticed that my Power Schemes no longer work, no matter which settings I use. Also, there are timers for "Turn off Monitor" and "Turn off Hard Disks", but the "Turn off Computer" is no longer there.
I haven't a clue what happened but basically today when i turned on the pc i noticed theres like a background color on all the folders on the desktop.Any way to turn this off and make it transparent again?
Returning to my PC after a holiday of 8 days, there were several updates to be loaded, which were executed before the final switch off. After reopening My screen had gone to some weird colours which made text look all shadowed and hard to read. I managed to change both colour and contrast to make it readable, but it still has grey lines across the screen. I changed the monitor but it made no difference.
I have got this request from one of our Senior Group Members: I am desperately trying to change the font colour on my desktop from white to a colour that is more easily read. I have Windows XP and am now wondering if white printing on the desktop is not "set in concrete".
I am running windows XP Professional Edition,My Power Schemes In the drop down menu were deleted such as Always On, Max Battery, Home/Office Desk;etc and nothing that I have done can get them back they are totally blank. Even where you would set the minutes to turn off monitor, Hard disks, and System hibernate are completely blank and greyed out Therefore My Computer Will not go down when I leave it. Does anyone have any input on how I can rectify this problem? It also will not allow me to Type in a scheme and use the" Save As" Option.
