Is it possible to download new Windows Colour Schemes. do they have them anywhere online?I mean the colour scheme of the taskbars and windows that you change in the appearence settings. (Windows classic, Teal, Brick, maple etc.) I don't really like any of the schemes, but I don't want to bother with Style XP, or Windows Blinds or any of those programs again.

My screen keeps flashing and changing colour to a dark horrible colour, It's been doing this for a while but lately seems to be doing it more often and wont change back to what it should be like. Any idea's what the problem could be?

But then i got GAIN from i think some codec i got online, and then my cpu usage used to jump up to 100% quite frequently. I attempted to look online as to how to remove GAIN from my computer,It has some changes to the registry which i did without making backup of it. So now my login screen will not appear i can not get into any mode, i.e. safe mode i cant restore my computer (even though i dont want to) because system restore is off
View 14 Replies View RelatedNew machine and new to XP - have noticed that the supplier of new m/c has used our very distinctive surname to name the system folder under Documents and Settings when installing XP Home. Can we change this as it seems to be appearing in a lot of situations - is it possible that this might be transmitted out onto the internet via emails etc. or web surfing - will we get "personally addressed" spam as a result? Tried "rename" but of course it says it cannot be done as it is a System folder"

I used to have several options as to when to go stand by etc. It is all gone. Can someone tell me how to get that back. It is running one of the schemes now but there is nothing shown. This is on XP.

I have noticed that I am missing some power schemes now when I try to access them using the power options choice on control panel. I am missing "always on" "presentation" "minimal power management" and "max battery".I don't know why they don't appear in the drop down menu under power schemes as "home/office" and "portable/laptop" and my "test" schemes are there.I have found these schemes exist in my registry in several locations by typing "powercfg" in the registry editor.Hopefully someone will know how to restore them. Is there an *.inf file to right click to reinstall? I found a bunch, just not sure which one it might be.

After going online for a while, "turn off monitor" changes from "never" to "15 minutes", and "turn off hard drive" changes from "never" to "1 hour". I tried changing it back to the wallpaper, but even though the wallpaper seemed to change, i still could only see a black screen. The wallpaper is there, because when i close a game it appears for a second, then gets back to the black screen. It's like it is being covered by the background colour. In the standard XP them(blue) the highlight colour is a strong blue while Explorer has the focus. Users are created in the standard folders under documents and settings, however their windows settings seem to be setup via some sort of profile creation script that windows uses. I have tried copying profile information from the setup profile to default and all users profiles... but it seems to make no difference. What I am looking to do is to keep all users profiles constantly ON, instead of standby after 20 min without changing each profile each time a new one is created.

After reopening My screen had gone to some weird colours which made text look all shadowed and hard to read. I managed to change both colour and contrast to make it readable, but it still has grey lines across the screen. I changed the monitor but it made no difference.

Even where you would set the minutes to turn off monitor, Hard disks, and System hibernate are completely blank and greyed out Therefore My Computer Will not go down when I leave it. Does anyone have any input on how I can rectify this problem? It also will not allow me to Type in a scheme and use the" Save As" Option.
