View 1 Replies View RelatedI love MF but I cannot use it because I sell on Ebay and it won't let me use any of the tools for formating. Fonts, color etc. and I need that for description purposes. So I guess I will have to go back to IE and fight all the crap unless someone has another suggestion. I have Windows xp home edition.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded something but the file didn't save to the usual place. Instead, the file has been saved to a place on my PC which I am finding impossible to locate (the downloading was successfully completed after a short while by-the-way) According to the program I used to download the file it has been saved to...C:Documents and SettingsuserLocal SettingsTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE5 (I'm not sure why the file was saved here!) When I go to C:Documents and Settings I am unable to find the 'User' folder and so cannot goto (or see) the other folders where this file has been saved. The only folder I can see in Documents and Settings is 'All Users'.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows Professional Service Pack 3. After starting or rebooting the PC, just before Windows completely finishes loading, I get a message stating "Error loading c:windowsozuveseb.dll"I can click past the message and work fine in Windows, but I'd like to resolve the problem.I'm assuming that "Error loading" means the file is missing. At least I cannot find it doing a search that includes hidden and system folder. I checked another XP machine, and ozuveseb.dll does not reside on that PC, either.how to determine what this file is, and where to find a replacement?

View 13 Replies View RelatedIn Windows XP, for an individual file, you can right-click an individual file, and then click Properties, then Summary, then enter the comments and keywords. But this is very cumbersome. Is there an easier way? I'd like to be able to enter the same keywords for multiple files at the same time (Explorer won't let you), and/or just click the file and type the information in a side-pane.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with file associations in that the options in Folder Options/File Types are grayed out. These are the New, Delete, Change and Advanced buttons. I noticed that I had a problem with my associations when my computer stopped keeping the changes I made using the Open With/Choose Program method. I installed Foobar2000 media player today and when I tried to associate media files within the configuration preferences I get the error message "An error occurred while changing file type associations. If you are using a limited account, please contact your system administrator.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am getting a message when i first try to get into Windows it says " This application has failed to start because OLEAUT32.dll was not found. Re-Installing the application may fix this problem" In the blue bit at the top of the box it also says Isass.exe - Unable to Locate Component. If i keep pressing the x on this box it lets me log into windows my background picture appears but nothing else.
I get the same message but this time it says userinit.exe - Unable to locate component i press the X and it says the same but explorer.exe in the corner. It then just shows my background picture and nothing else. If i CTL ALT DEL it says the same box but taskmanager.exe in the corner but then the task manager comes on i cnat really do nothing else.
I am having odd freezes, mostly with Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer freezes when: I right-click on any file. I try to use the 'Edit' command from the main menu, unless I am in 'My Documents' or at a higher level. I right-click Windows 'Start' button. Can I re-install Windows Explorer? Is it a registry problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedA trojan virus changed my windows xp home addition configuration. I installed the free AVG virus detection software and eliminated the virus. I had to eliminate all restore points which were also infected. Now I need to change or delete a line in my config files. I keep getting a message that windows internet explorer can't find a file which was the virus file(///c:windows/privacy_danger/index.htm'. make sure the path or internet address is correct). I also get a different display background screen which I can't change. All else seems to be working properly.
View 3 Replies View Relatedsomehow the default setting when i double click a file folder changed from "open" to "search". in my efforts to solve the problem i created a shortcut that does not work and i can't get rid of it because the "remove" option is greyed out in the "edit file type" window.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently had to do a system restore and now my .jpg and jpeg files have a bad file icon. They still do open with the windows pic program as I want them to - but only on the admin accout, I usually surf and play and do everything else with a user account, and even if I reset everything under folder options for the file associacions it somehow doesn't apply to the other account.
windows tells me in the file association menu that I changed the file association's properties and can set them back to standart "photo suite 6" - a program that I uninstalled ages ago
The windows Explorer search feature works well enough for most file searches except when looking for files on a disc. On those occasions, the In Folder results point not to the disc drive but to c:documents & settings[name]Local Settings Applications Data. In short, not to where the files are. To add insult to fubar, clicking on any folder in the list results in -- absolutely nothing because I am clicking on a phantom folder (duh). I know that if I scroll across to the right, miles outside the screen view, I'll finally see where the file in question actually resides -- major and unappreciated pain. Is there a config or reg edit somewhere that will allow me to set the In Folder to show the file where it actually is, referencing the disc drive, instead of the above c:. If not, at the very least, I think Microsoft should share some of what the Einstein was smoking the day he came up with this one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI gotta be missing something basic, but this is just a real nuisance for me. Would appreciate any thoughts. Software is XP SP3.I have been using XP to view/edit several subfolders of jpegs stored in a Kodaks Folder. I prefer to usthe "filmstrip view". I am able to rename file name from something like 101_2900 to kidname whatever, but the new name never appears onscreen unless I either force a F5 screen refresh or back out and re-enter the file folder. I can probably edit photo names in Corel Paint Shop Pro or another program, but this is just driving me nuts.Sometimes when I turn on the computer and decide to rename files, the new names appear immediately without refreshes, ect. Just wonder if I am missing a file property setting or something basic that I haven't noticed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnd of course you can go in and change it to sort by "Type" or view as "Icons" or "Thumbnails" but as so as you close it it reverts, and the next time you open it it will be back to "List" view, arranged by "Name."Having it sorted by name is acceptable, so as i said it never really bothered me, but now one of my computers is sorting by "Modified" which is just not working for me.So basically I'm trying to find out if there is a way to change the default folder/file view in these basic Open, Save, Save As, etc dialog box's.
