I installed the latest Nvidia drivers. No problem there. But now, each time I boot up, I have this page fllling the screen (Windows explorer?) It's blank except for one folder - WINXP. It's easy to remove each time, but how can I get this page or whatever it is, to take a hike and get lost, so that just the desktop icons are visible? Would appreciate any help. Using xp home, P4, 1 gig RAM.
View 6 RepliesMy desktop has decieded to add the 'menu' bar down trhe left had side of the screen. It is the same as the type which appears on the left hand side of open folders in XP. I created a new user account and it was OK until the screen went into screen saver and I needed to log back in and the problem was there again. This appears to have only started to happen when I added my XP laptop to the wired network.

They are configured for a vertical span configuration in the NVIDIA drivers (updated to the latest version of the driver)When I turn off the second monitor which I do sometimes to save power, either windows or the nvidia drivers auto-detects that the second monitor was powered off and changes my video configuration to a single monitor configuration, resizing my desktop back to fit on only one monitor. When I turn my second monitor back on, I need to manually re-configure the video settings every time.

Recently whilst playing a game (Football Manager 2007 if it matters?!) the game crashed, and it went to desktop. The icons/etc on the desktop were noticeably enlarged. I did an online test and found my resolution had swapped to 1536x960. checking display, properties, settings, or whatever it is, it still says i'm in 1920x1200. I've had this problem before, the last time I had it, I uninstalled my windows monitor driver and it automatically fixed it. I've done this several times, and uninstalled/reinstalled the nvidia geforce drivers (from my dell CD) once or twice as well and it hasnt fixed it at all.

When you plug in a USB device, it gets power, but the computer doesn't recognize it. After installing all the drivers including the video card drivers from ATI's website the computer discovered an "unknown device on ATI Radeon X700"The motherboard is a gigabyte 8I865GME-775-RH and obviously a X700 Radeon Video Card. AGP drivers, chipset drivers and the like are all installed. The video card showed up as an unknown device when I first installed, I put in the catalyst drivers and it detected successfully, upon reboot this new unknown device came up and I can not seem to find any drivers for the thing. I tried reinstalling the catalyst drivers as well to no avail.

the Windows Installer screen opens telling me it is trying to install a program that is already installed,(usually driver for HP 4110 printer drivers). If I don't cancel it immediately, eventually an error screen appears telling me the file I'm seeking is not available and to insert the installation CD. I've tried re-installing the drivers by inserting the CD, but then an error message appears saying the drivers are already installed. This is getting frustrating?

my DVD ROM wont work. It has all the drivers installed and it is enabled from the computer management in the control pannel. I also enabled it using my backup software but it is still not recognised. Any sudgestions?? I used to have both Nero and Instant CD/DVD installed. I removed Nero just in case there was a conflict with the software but it still remains the same.

Then I started noticing that my icons weren't coming up, and my start button was missing! Well I opened task manager and manually started explorer.exe and it came up for 2 seconds and then terminated. I tried again and again, and it never worked. So I did a ton of Spyware and virus scans. I got rid everything, but it still isn't working! I just re-formatted not even 48 hours ago, I don't want to do it again. Oh yeah, and I tried to repair XP with my OS CD, no luck.
