Compaq F700 Laptop - Drivers Installed

I just got a Compaq F700 laptop from someone on craigslist. It seems to work as expected, survives prime95 etc.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc [...] g=en&cc=us
It originally came with vista (and indeed he gave me the recovery discs that would put it back if I wanted toBut I'm trying to install Windows XP instead. I seem to have managed to get all other drivers installed. From googling apparently it's the audio and video drivers that most people have problems with.

How do I uninstall all drivers associated with my (windows xp) touch pad. Touch Pad is not working / bad drivers installed drivers over bad drivers.

A friends HP Media Center PC m7077c crashed. Had no recover disk, etc. Installed XP Pro SP2 and I need drivers (according to Device Manager). No sound is obvious but video controller is not. Video seems okay. Where do I find drivers for this machine. XP Pro, Home and MCE are different OS's ... as far as my experience. The drivers are not the same.

I bought a HP 6720s and now i am not able to get the XP drivers.can anybody tell me where can i find them or if not then can anybody tell me that in how many days can i return the product back to HP? Guys i FOUND it. It's the standard intel driver(82562GT)we all tried so far. The O/S doesn't handle the resources it allocates to it correctly and that cannot be changed.So I did a new windows XP installation and removed the ACPI at startup. After that I installed the network card first and it WORKS.after doing above steps LAN is working, but vga card not works.I did a new windows XP installation and removed the ACPI at startup.

I have a Compaq Presario 3045US that freezes on occasion for no apparent reason. Mouse, keyboard will not function, unable to shut down, have to pull power and reboot. Don't get any error message and no repeatable process although watching dvds does seem to cause it to happen more often.

I have Compaq laptop which has 512 meg ram shared so technically i get 300 meg. it came with windows xp home edition. also it has 100+ programs that compaq decided to load it making it even slow.It also have backup harddrive partition and i created backup dvd's. the problem is if i reformat it using those then all the bloatware will be installed again. which i dont want.I have also got a copy of windows xp. what id like to do is format the computer using a plain windows xp cd. my question are these: would the product key on the back of the laptop work with the xp cd that i have.AND how do i backup the drivers that i would need from the laptop?

We meant to do the system restore to a previous date, but instead it appears we reloaded the original configuration. There's no undo option and the only system restore date now offered is today. We've lost everything we ever put on the laptop. Is there any easy way to get it all back?

I was given an old Laptop from a National Canadian Bank. Here are the following statistics, It currently has Windows 2000 Professional but since it was from a Bank it has quite a bit of Bank related Software and Network settings. I was looking to format the drive and install Windows XP. I was told in another post on the forum that perhaps my laptop might not be the optimal to my system. Which Operating system should I install on this system?

I have been thinking about upgrading my laptop computer to Windows 2000. Hopefully I don't have problems when it comes to finding the right drivers for my laptop computer, but the other thing that I am worried about is downloading the updates. My computer is only 300MHz with 96 MB of RAM in it, I only connect at 28.8 on the phone line and I haven't got a network to connect my laptop to high speed. Is there a way that I can download seperate updates for Windows 2000? Is there a way I can download Internet Explorer 6 and save it?

I have a Compaq laptop that I bought about a year ago. Of course, I did not get a Windows disk with it and I cannot find the software that I did get. When I try to start it, it says that Windows cannot start because a file is missing or corrupt. The file is "windowssytem32configsystem". It suggests that I attempt to repair it using the original Setup CD-ROM, which, of course, I don't have.

I have a rather old machine which is unbadged, Mainboard Model 865-Series, Intel Pentium 4, Speed 2800 MHz with 512 MB Ram and Running Windows XP.On power-up it says that neither th Video Controller (VGA Compatible), Multimedia Audio Controller or Ethernet Controlller have been installed. When useing the Add Hardware Wizard the following message is returned :- "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" and "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software".

I've been given an old 400mhz pc but no drivers. I installed Win2K(pro) on it & now have only 16 colours & no sound.Here's some info from the POST 06/08/1999 -i810-PC87366-6A69MC3AC-00I've taken out the mobo to look for any other clues & I found an intel chip bearing the no. FW82801AA. That's all I can see. I've never actually opened up a comp before so I'm not too sure what I'm looking for. I just need sound & graphics to work!

I reformatted my pc with Windows XP Professional, slipstreamed with SP3. I've reinstalled all of my drivers (save for my webcam), and now I have no sound. It seems everything is in check, my drivers are working and all but nothing.

I just installed Windows Xp on a puter. After installing all the drivers including the video card drivers from ATI's website the computer discovered an "unknown device on ATI Radeon X700"The motherboard is a gigabyte 8I865GME-775-RH and obviously a X700 Radeon Video Card. AGP drivers, chipset drivers and the like are all installed. The video card showed up as an unknown device when I first installed, I put in the catalyst drivers and it detected successfully, upon reboot this new unknown device came up and I can not seem to find any drivers for the thing. I tried reinstalling the catalyst drivers as well to no avail.

I decided to put my old hard disk (the one from the dim8400) and that contains already a windows, drivers, my folders,...into the dim xps gen3 when I started the dim xps gen3, I can go to my windows but I connot use neither the mouse nor the keybord (but the keyboard is fine when I access to the bios)
I thought it s a problem of drivers but I just have the drivers and utilities cd from the dim 8400 pc before making any attempt

the Windows Installer screen opens telling me it is trying to install a program that is already installed,(usually driver for HP 4110 printer drivers). If I don't cancel it immediately, eventually an error screen appears telling me the file I'm seeking is not available and to insert the installation CD. I've tried re-installing the drivers by inserting the CD, but then an error message appears saying the drivers are already installed. This is getting frustrating?

when I try to boot up my computer I get a blue screen right after the windows is loaded. It just flicks up for a second so I cannot see what it says. It does same with safe mode.I'm not sure, but I think it is caused by display driver I tryied to install. I got a nVidia 8600GT-m card, and nVidia doesn't provide official driver for it, it must come from the vendor or I need to use modified driver. The driver that came from the vendor didn't support some of the openGL functions and gave error when I tried to run stuff on higher resolution

I have a IBM laptop and has become very very slow lately(although i am not connected to the internet and i rarely use it).I'm thinking of doing a format but when i bought it (a year ago) I wasn't given any cd's.I have a cd from an another Siemens laptop I have for WinXP Home Edition-SP1 (Product Recovery cd-rom).Could i use this to format the other laptop?Will I need a cd for the drives?I have to find a cd or i can download the drives?

Installed new hard drive, along with XP Home (recovery disk).Before my system crashed all my motherboard drivers were on D: partition.XP loads okay, but it is unstable - for example I cannot start msconfig under "Normal" start up. It crashes. I will not list all the BSOD - but XP doesn't like something.I have no devices connected apart from basic graphics card (which XP loaded the drivers for okay). I am waiting for XP Pro to be delivered, so I am hoping that my unstable XP will become stable after I upgrade (or full installation) of a retail version.
Prior to installing my current XP (one time of at least 30 others - as kept crashing),I tried to load my motherboard drivers from the disk my manufacture supplied.is it possible that my XP Home is unstable BECAUSE I do not have my motherboard drivers loaded? That might seem a naive question - but I honestly do not know, and I've started to become a tad paranoid as these problems have been ongoing for 5 weeks.

my DVD ROM wont work. It has all the drivers installed and it is enabled from the computer management in the control pannel. I also enabled it using my backup software but it is still not recognised. Any sudgestions?? I used to have both Nero and Instant CD/DVD installed. I removed Nero just in case there was a conflict with the software but it still remains the same.

I installed the latest Nvidia drivers. No problem there. But now, each time I boot up, I have this page fllling the screen (Windows explorer?) It's blank except for one folder - WINXP. It's easy to remove each time, but how can I get this page or whatever it is, to take a hike and get lost, so that just the desktop icons are visible? Would appreciate any help. Using xp home, P4, 1 gig RAM.
