After Installing Sp3 - Desktop Acting Wierd -- Got Worse With Uninstallation

I have a amd64 200 with 1GB RAM and 80 GB HD running xp home edition sp2. around may, sp3 tried to install a number of times but failed. After reading the info about how to install sp3, I did so and it completed!
The system worked for about 2 hours and then a 'MACHINE_EXCEPTION' error. I uninstalled sp3 and no more machine_exception errors! now, the anti-virus software started finding infections in windows,windowssystem32, even 'System Volume Information'

I found around 260 Trojans, and after disinfecting, Whenever I connect to the net, it only lasts for two minutes. Then I have to reboot to connect again. and continued again. So I decided to reformat my PC, and did so. Now I'm stuck with 2 OSes, one in my C drive, and one in My D drive.

Does anyone know why PCMark05 would give bizarrely low numbers for any disk-related test under XP 32bit? I tried upgrading to SP3 (was SP2) but still get crazy numbers. All other tests work fine, but anything disk-related and results such as 0.002MB/sec are given, even though the time taken for the tests, and all other tests (HDTach, Sandra, etc.) suggest the disks are working just fine (normal max sustained speed is around 100MB/sec). I'm using all U320 SCSI, 147GB 15K (Maxtor Atlas 15K II), both PCIX and PCIe U320 cards, and it happens no matter what disk I use, or what card the disk is connected to. I was hoping to try the test using hw vs. sw RAID, but so far there's no point trying as long as the disk tests are doing a wobbly.

I install Server 2003 Standard SP1 downloaded and installed on a PII 400, 256Mb RAM with IIS, ASP.Net 2.0, SQL server 2000 SP4, Mysql 5, and PHP5, and all without a single hitch...too good to be true. I went ahead and tried on what will be my server PIII600, 512 MB RAM, First try, Server 2003 couldn't find a file when installing, retried and it worked. Downloaded SP1 and when I was extracting it said "file is corrupt", downloaded 4 more times with same result. reformatted and reinstalled 5 more times and cannot get past "file is corrupt" on SP1 and sometimes extracting the .Net 2.0 installer got the same error. I swap all hardware with PC from first try (except RAM, Mobo, CPU, CDROM) with no change. Win98 and XP installed fine on the second PC just can't get server 2003

When I have either firefox browser or IE6 up and when I minimize my browser or exit out of it, my whole screen goes blank. Every thing from my desktop items and my taskbar disappears for a second or 2. The only thing on my desktop that doesn't go blank is my desktop picture.

I was reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows XP, but I used a disc from a different manufacturer [a Dell]. My computer is an eMachines T3516 Desktop PC, Now my computer is acting all funny. I can't install anything, my sound doesn't work Windows reports that the sound driver is OK, and my PC makes funny noises it never made before. I am running Windows XP and have tried to uninstall imesh. One of two things happens. One is that, in the add/remove programs, when i try to uninstall, it simply freezes up or...i get the "can't find install.log file" message. I redownloaded the program, but that doesn't help; nothing changes.

I was uninstalling Norton Antivirus 2005 and during the uninstallation process, the PC rebooted (without warning me) and then the computer sat at a black screen. The screen said "disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter". Can you please let me know what might be causing the problem? I haven't made any recent hardware or software changes to the computer (other than attempting to uninstall Norton Antivirus 2005).

I mistakenly installed the drivers for a CM Audio sound card to my Windows XP Professional computer. Although the uninstallation seems to go OK from the screen messages, there is still an entry in the 'Program list' in Control Panel - I guess I can remove this using Tweak UI?More of a problem is that , after attempting uninstallation, I receive an error message on start up "Cannot find cmicnfg.cpl" which I understand to be a Control Panel problem.By using Everest I have identified the offending item and this is produced above.

well, I managed to screw up my winxp reinstall in a big way. I'm very upset over it since its my sis-in-laws computer. Before, she could not access the internet, but at least she could boot up WinXP and play games, access her email and all of her programs on the desktop...now...nothing but the following popup error message:Error: One of the files containing the system registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful then the popup disappears and sends me to a blue screen (long) message starting with this.

When I booted up my computer this morning, Windows loaded, I signed in, and then it took nearly an hour and a half to get the program icons to come up on the desktop. When I try to open one, it can take upwards of 20 minutes to do so, then response within the program is no better. It seems like all the resources are under use, but no one can see what's bogging it down.

I recently found out through my last windows upgrade that I might be using a counterfeit copy of windows. I wasn't aware of this like I'm sure many, so I read where I could purchase for 149.00 a windows upgrade tool and make my windows XP GENUINE. On line I purchased the upgrade tool. I gave microsoft 149.00 and two days later an email came with product key and took me to a sight to run software to check to see if windows was intact. It ran flawlessly and checked my windows xp and said it was complete. Congraltions menu. After a reboot a message came up that I must activate this windows program. I tried to activate it by online, following instructions, but error said my product key wasn't valid. I then called and spoke with three different activation techs that were unable to help and said I needed the CD.

I'm running windows XP home with SP2, keep it completely updated and run ad-aware Se (New one), Norton, AVG as well as Spybot S&D, but recently something really wierd's happened.All of the Internet explorer style buttons at the top of folder windows have dissappeared! Completely vanished without a trace. Instead, I just have a silver title bar across the top, with the Minimise, close and maximise buttons, and the name of the program. Anything underneath, (Such as an address bar, view, file etc buttons and navigational buttons) have gone.I still have them in Internet explorer, before anyone asks.. But it's most annoying, particularly when i get lost in a folder tree and can't back up without using the backspace key!

I was wondering if anyone could throw some insight into a wierd problem I have with some Dell PCs. On site we have a selection of GX240, 260, 60, 270, 280s. Recently, I have had four identical problems with four GX240 PCs.The GX240s all have been built using the same W2K image, and are about just over 3 years old
All of the problems have been stop errors on boot, and whilst I managed to recover one on "Last Known Good" I have had to run a repair on the other three. The early ones have been fine for a few weeks now. Nothing about the GX240s are different from any other systems, no specific software, even the drivers are pretty similar to GX260, but certainly nothing done on them recently.

I've used programs like Style XP or Theme XP but non of them have the theme I want. I want windows to look the way it does when you chose Start Shut down. Basically a greyscale theme is what I'm looking for. I realize that sounds wierd but maybe someone out there already has it and they wouldn't mind pointing me to where it can be found.

When I boot my pc it freezes on the boot unless i press F10 and select my primary drive. If I press F2 to get into my bios it also freezes. Once I get into windows (booting slower then normal) I can not see my optical drives. The optical drives are showing in the device manager however.

The only "strange" thing I have been able to find when I run msconfig, is an
entry in startup called:yenuxbhtod.exe-start.I have done multiple searches on the net and cannot find anything like this. Its location is listed as SOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRunI have unticked it in Startup, but it just comes back.I am running Windows XP home.

Lots of wierd problems that may or may not be connected!A) My computer will crash when doing anything with java, multiplayer when using MS VM. I use sun java now, and it has yet to crash.B) Computer has just started crashing when loading websites while listening to music...C) Frequently my monitor will black out for about 15 seconds, then come back on with Lower color quality.D) Tab button doesnt work in IE.
E) Last time my PC crashed it took me to the BIOS settings and asked if i wanted to update anything but i really know nothing about it

About 2 days ago after installing an upgrade for IE8 and restarting it, my taskbar and desktop have disappeared. Luckily I accessed the task manager window and tried to use the System Restore option, but instead I get a message saying something about 'iertutil.dll'missing. I tried installing and moving 'iertutil.dll' to the system32 folder, and now I get this message saying 'the ordinal 56 could not be located in the dynamic link library 'iertutil.dll'.

Windows XP. I already have a current anti virus - the ESET NOD32 Antivirus. My room mate who isnt familiar with sanity (Hehehe), installed Kaspersky. When she restarted, it hangs. You can only move your mouse cursor and that's it. When you try to click the Start Menu the mouse icon changes to processing (the hour glass icon) and forever remains like that. Nor can I display the Task Manager - mouse cursor still displays the everlasting hour glass icon.
When I got home and tried to boot the pc (it is a desktop computer by the way. not a laptop), it still hangs like crazy. So, I reboot, went to SAFE MODE and did the SYSTEM RESTORE, date before the Kaspersky installation. And it didnt work (obviously since I am here in this forum posting my problem). Computer still hangs like crazy and this time, it doesnt show any desktop icon. I didn't get mad with my roomate since I see no point of it. :P So, I just want this resolve. My last resort will be to reformat my Windows Drive C: but I am not ready to say farewell to some of my softwares that I have no soft copy.
