I am using XP OS, I have AVG 7.5 antivirus installed on my system. I am getting following alert after every half an hour. I have clicked on 'hill' the file but still I am getting same alert box after half hour please guide me on this.
View 2 RepliesI need this computer working coz its for work and i dont wanna have to pay for maintenance for it if I can fix it myself.my computer just keeps reseting sometimes it takes upto half an hour sometimes it can take 5 minutes. If i leave it on a program or a web page it will do it aswell if when im not using it.
it cant be a hardware problem because theres been nothing put in it for a few months.
Microsoft Windows, SpyBot, and Norton all sent a deluge of windows saying they had detected changes. SpyBot sent 7-10 warnings, one of them saying "SpyBot. Search & Destroy has detected an important registry item entry that has been changed. Catagory: System Startup global entry; Change: Value deleted; Entry: elkfqxcj; Old data: c:windowselkfqxcj.exe; [allow change][Deny change].Each of these SpyBot notices had a different entry. Since then my computer is extremely slow, freezes up when left for any time. A window pops us when opening and when changing applications titled "16 bit Windows Subsystem", saying:

i have a packard bell laptop which is about 2.5 years old and has windows XP home pre loaded i have got infected by 3 worm viruses w32 spybot worm ,w32spybot worm KHC and trojan dropper. in an attempt to remove i decided to use the pc restore disk to restore all setting to factory settings however i have now done this twice and still appear to have the viruses is this normal or am i doing something wrong.

I did recently alter some settings from within Outlook looking for something but I don't think it would have refreshed Outlook to a new state.I'm using 2000. I receive the BSOD message telling me i need to run chkdsk but i know the HDD works fine. I installed a second windows on the same hdd to boot to and it works. How can I alter the files in the windows folder of my primary install to renable the HDD so that I may boot it?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have 256 MB stick of ram in this system. when i attempt to set my pagefile to static custom size of 800 initial 800 maximum, even in registry, i click set, and reboot the computer. when it restarts its back at the system managed size of 383. if i change to safe mode, i can set it jsut fine and it saets and stays at 800. however when i reboot after setting it into the safemode, ITS BACK AT 383! EVEN THOUGH THE CUSTOM SETTINGS ARE STILL SET, IT nags AT ME ABOUT VIRTUAL MEMORY BEING TO LOW!@!
This is really offensive to me because i can handle almsot any xp problem and this keeps bugging the crap out of me. i cant run with this crappy of a system without that pagefile being set right and i need this solution ASAP >.<
hey im new to this place and i have a major problem. all of a sudden when i click to download something, itll show a hour glass for like a split second and then nothing. it wont download it. this happens in internet explorer 7 beta. everyone else tells me to download the new version. well i cant. some other people tell me to just download firefox.well i cant do that either . and one told me to look at my internet options. but when i click to get into it it just flashes a white picture and then closes immediately.

The checkbox to automatically adjust clock is checked and I've tried going back and forth on different time zones to get the it right; but it will not work. Also using Outlook 2007, but only for some minor email usage. Was told that Outlook 07 did not need a patch, only needed one if you did stuff with the calendar.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI know nothing about computers but my boyfriend knows a lot and this has even stumped him. I keep getting notices about having the w32.spybot.worm on my computer. We've followed the instructions on symantec for removal, didn't work. We've formatted it by deleting the partitions, still came back. Then we did a low-level format, and it still came back. The website at symantec says it comes from Kazaa?! I don't have kazaa, and never have. I run Norton virus checks and it doesn't find it, or it says it already deleted it. I search my computer and delete all the little tftp zero byte files. They keep coming back, and I don't know what to do.

I recently picked up a virus. My NAV it appears to have affected NAV. I cannot turn it on. I have a security error popup that tells me it is not on. The IT guy at work thinks a worm is responsible for me not being able to log onto the internet, and getting the AFD network support invalid driver messages. Norton isn't finding any virus, worm or other problems.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy aunt got hit with the W32spybot.worm. Nortons keeps popin up alertin her to it but says it cant remove it. Ive pulled up the removal instrustions online. Problem is she is more or less computer illiterate and since she lives on the other side of the country from me I cant fix it myself. I would like to avoid having to walk her through the removal over the phone since it deals with the registry and random file names, it would make it a pain to find. Are there any programs out that can remove it? Nortons will only do it part way so it re-installs after reboot.

After my computer has been on a while my screen goes up half of the page, I can't hardly see my task bar when it does that, I checked to see if the fan was running ,which it is,I have no clue how to fix it this make 2 monitors that has done this,the first 1 had lines running all along the screen about half way down the screen.

Something that makes this problem even more peculiar is that third party tools such as cpu-z and speedfan see the full 512mb, but the system properties and dxdiag both say 256mb. The bios also says 512mb, dual channel mode. I can also make any information about this system that anyone needs to help me with this.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo installed WinXP Pro on my 3 month old HP pavillion personal computer and I am having an issue with the ram Apparently windows is only recognizing half of it.Here are some of the most pertinent details: AMD Turion64 ML-34,Radeon Xpress 200m w/128 MB on the video card.There are 512 MB installed DDR, Dual Channel.The bios is recognizing all 512 of the ram, but windows properties only shows 256.dxdiag also shows 256, but CPU-Z shows all 512.Does anyone have any idea whats going on? Has anyone actually experienced this phenomenon? I don't know if this is just a reading error, causing no performance difference, but I think I can feel the difference, but since its pretty new and the operating system has only been installed for about 2 weeks, I haven't gotten to get a good feel of what its supposed to be. I have also noticed in the past couple days that it takes a very long time to boot.

VLC Media player plays the dvd, but only half of the audio is played.If anyone knows how to fix that, then that would be great.Also if I try using Media Player Classic then it plays choppy/slowed down video and audio.I also tried AVS Media player, but that would start to load the video and stop at 3% and never get any farther.I am not sure how that program works, but it seemed like it was trying to rip the dvd and then play it or something.
