I have recently upgraded from outlook express to outlook 2003.O/E used to ask me for a password for mailbox as soon as i opened the program, which is what i want from outlook 2003.but instead with outlook 2k3 i have to click on send / recieve before it asks for my password.which settings do i need to change?
Running WinXProSP2. When I go to add/remove programs and click on the Windows components button, I get the error message: "Setup library MSDTCSTP.dll could not be loaded, or function 0cEntry could not be found. Contact your system administrator. The specific error code is 0x7e." I've searched a lot and the only references I can find are to Server 2003.
I have tried previously to uninstall my HP Officejet G85 printer from HP Pavilion a1130n running XP Media. There is no Change/Remove button in Add/Remove Programs but the program is there, 150 MB, and the file suggested on the HP website for uninstalling older printers from XP produces a message that it's "unsupported" can't remember exact verbiage, been a while since last tried. Even reinstalled in the hopes that a message would come up to the effect "this program is already installed, do you want install to remove it prior to completing this install," but it just installs the printer again with a number after it ... I'm up to "hp officejet g series - 3."
My laptop is missing lots of programs under Add/Remove Programs that I know are installed. Furthermore, some that are listed don't have the Remove button next to it. The missing programs aren't listed in the Uninstall registry key and I'm confident there are not viruses on the machine.
"Change/Remove" button is missing for ALL installed programs. If I install a new program, it appears, but for all apps installed previously - it is gone.
The majority of the applications listed in the Add/Remove Programs menu of the Control Panel no longer have the Change and/or Remove buttons visible. Is there any way I can restore these without having to do something evil like a restore?
My computer has had this problem for quite some time now. When I go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, only the recently installed programs have the Change/Remove button. How can i make this button appear for my old programs as well?
changed my right click menu in Windows Explorer/My Computer where Search is the top item.I would like to revert back to where Open is the top item and executes on a double click
If I double-click a file (or folder) in Windows Explorer, by default the computer opens the file or folder in another program (Virus Scan) and begins to scan it. Obviously, I don't want this. Normally, I should be able to hit ENTER, double-click, or right-click and select the first option, which should be open the folder or file in Explorer. However, this is not so, and I can't figure out what Default setting I changed in order to change the Default operation for any files or folders I select. I've poked around in the File Types tab of Folder Options (for Explorer) but this doesn't work
I accidentally screwed up my double click speed. Where should the bar be for the default double click speed or is there a registry key I can change for this.
Like to change the bold item on the right click menu, how do I do that? For jpg images I want the double click behavior to be Preview which opens the Picture and Fax viewer, and not the Open item.
what file runs when you click on Add/Remove Windows Components in Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel Mines malfunctioning and Id like to try and replace it, but I can't find any info on where to look for it. When I click on it now, instead of getting a box with choices for Windows, it goes immediately to the action of installing, without going through the choosing part at all
I want to remove a few right click functions that have added them selfs to my menu. I have managed to remove all but a few. These only occur when i right click a folder (i got rid of the ones for files).
I want to remove about 8 items from the right click context menu either in Explorer or while on the Desktop. I read an article that said all you had to do was edit the Registry by doing a search for ShellNew and remove the entire key if you didn't want any of them. I did this several times and did find all of them at least 5 times. But they are still there.
I need to know if you can change the select time in single-click mode? Because as soon as my pointer moves over a file, it selects it. This is extremely irritating, when you only want to select certain files and then try to drag them to another window. Because as you move across the other files, they become selected also!! So, is there anyway to increase the amount of time that it takes for your pointer to select a file, because I hate double-click mode!
I just added a "Directory List Print" to my right click options and somehow the default choice (highlighted at the top of the list) changed from "open" to "search".
Apparently the default selection governs what happens when you left click. I want to restore "open" as the default choice, but can't figure out how. Does it require a reg edit or a utility program or what? TIA
I bought a used laptop with microsoft xp pro. The name of the former owner is always showing on the top when I use internet explorer or outlook express... It's a nuisance but that's OK. Yesterday I installed a program and cannot use it because I have a message :the microsoft jet database engine cannot open the file, it is already opened exclusively by another user or you need pemission. How do I get permission, or how do I change the registry to remove the former owner?
My computer: Dell Dimension 3000; my OS: Xp,Service Pack 2. Do you have a list of all unnecessary services which i can remove or change from XP, Sp2? Can you show me how to change or remove them? What tweaks are safe, for XP,SP2?
In my add and remove where u click add and remove window stuff things has change in there used to be mircosoft network something like qopacking and tcp/ip now i have internet gate device discory and control client peer to peer rip listener simple tcp/ip services UPnp user interface how do i get it back to the orignal settings sorry for the spelling.
I just acquired a used toshiba M45. Windows XP-home. In attempts to "clean" the drive, I encountered the problem with no "change/remove" button option in control panel. I followed the advice found here to change values in the registry as outlined at . The problem is that when I get to the final branch of uninstall in the registry, there are no programs listed there to change the value. I can't find any solution here, or with mr. google.
On the windows login screen, right below my login name, there is a little note that says how many new mail messages I have- This however was set up by my ex-boyfriend under his hotmail account. I'd like to change it to one of my accounts if possible, (I primarily use a university based webmail account), and if I can't change it to anything but hotmail or msn then I would like to remove it.
I haven't been able to figure out where to find this setting.
When I click on desktop and select properties to change the desktop wallpaper I have a list of family photographs!I still have the desktop wallpaper folder in windows web folder but how do I put it back into the desktop and remove the ones that are mysteriously there.
I have a computer that quits explorer every time I try to click on the file menu, or right click on explorer and go to the new link. It also does this when i try to delete a folder in explorer or through my computer.
When I open a folder (MyComputer, for example), and try to right-click or double-click an icon to open it- it does not work. When I right-click the icon, NOTHING happens. When I double-click the icon, the icon gets highlighted, but the program or other folder does not open. I checked in the folder options, and it is set up so that when you double-click an icon, it opens the program. But the weird thing about it is that if I try to double-click or right-click an icon on my desktop.. it works like it should. So this really just doesn't make sense.
Many times when I single click on an item with my mouse, whether it be a program, a shortcut, or whatever, more often than not , it acts as a double click. When I double cliclk, it opens up the program twice more often than mot, also. I have the Folder options set up to double click so I don't know what's going on. I regularly run AdAdware, Spybot, and I have ZoneAlarm Suite running all the time
I have Windows Server 2003 on my laptop and would like to 'downgrade' it with Windows XP Professional. The CD-ROM (XP OS nstallation) does not allow my to INSTALL XP (cannot select the on) maybe because downgrades are not allowed. I also tried to reformat my hard-disk and install XP from scratch. My laptop have just one drive (C: drive). When I force to boot from my CD-ROM (BIOS settings), nothing happens Boot error
A few of our DNS servers are reporting Event ID 3000 periodically. Full logging is on. There are no failure entries prior to the event. I can not find much on TechNet either. I see that this is a problem for others in other forums, but I could not find a resolution on any site. Anyone have a cause and resolution? Details of the error entry:
The DNS server has encountered numerous run-time events. To determine the initial cause of these run-time events, examine the DNS server event log entries that precede this event. To prevent the DNS server from filling the event log too quickly, subsequent events with Event IDs higher than 3000 will be suppressed until events are no longer being generated at a high rate.
I have a server running Windows 2003. Installing the new service pack crashed the c: drive!! I did a repair install, reinstalled missing programs, and all seemed fine. Now I can't remote in to the server, have no remote tab to enable, and get a missing .dll error attempting to check properties through My Computer. Looking at the event viewer, I have a bunch of stuff related to missing/corrupt .dll files. I know there's a quick fix in XP by installing from the INF folder.
I uninstalled Office 2003 because I was having problems with Outlook. When I try to reinstall I get the message "The System Adminsitrator has set polcies to prevent this installation" I am running XP Professional and am the only user on this home computer. It is not on a network. I know this is an old problem, as I looked it up on Google. I did try to fix it by going to the local security policy and changing settings. This did not work. I am not familiar with "registries" and am hesitant to try anything in that area.
