I have tried previously to uninstall my HP Officejet G85 printer from HP Pavilion a1130n running XP Media. There is no Change/Remove button in Add/Remove Programs but the program is there, 150 MB, and the file suggested on the HP website for uninstalling older printers from XP produces a message that it's "unsupported" can't remember exact verbiage, been a while since last tried. Even reinstalled in the hopes that a message would come up to the effect "this program is already installed, do you want install to remove it prior to completing this install," but it just installs the printer again with a number after it ... I'm up to "hp officejet g series - 3."

On the windows login screen, right below my login name, there is a little note that says how many new mail messages I have- This however was set up by my ex-boyfriend under his hotmail account. I'd like to change it to one of my accounts if possible, (I primarily use a university based webmail account), and if I can't change it to anything but hotmail or msn then I would like to remove it.
I haven't been able to figure out where to find this setting.
A couple of days ago I was changing a few keys in my registry in order to fix my reoccurring DSO Exploit problem, when I noticed several keys for programs that I had uninstalled many, many moons ago. Why aren�t these keys removed when you uninstall the software? Is it safe to delete these keys, now that I have uninstalled the software?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI know you all seen this problem before but I've got to try. I have a Compaq, with a 60 gig hard drive, 384 of memory, 1195 Mhz processor and running windows XP. My computer runs like it was at the tops 300 Mhz. I've check for virus and spy ware, deleted unnecessary files, uninstall most of my games, defrag the c drive and defrag my registrey. I even changed my battery. And it still runs slow. Any suggestion on what I can do? I'm about reading to throw it. Also it is constantly freezing up on me. Man I thought XP wasn't to do that. I have disabled all but two of the automatic startup items using msconfig. My system used to start in less than two minutes, easily. Now it takes a more than a minute or two longer than that.
I know what the problem is; the only three items that show in the system tray after startup are:
1) The AVG Antivirus icon .
2) The Spybot SD Resident icon.
3) Local Area Connection (This is the icon which shows two computer monitors with screens that light up and go dark periodically)
Now, after the problem started, the last item, the Local Area Connection icon is the one that doesn't load, for VERY long. So it may be something to do with that. Also, just before the icon finally shows up(after which point the computer is fine to use) I've notice that a Windows security notification icon appears...it flashes, for just a second, and then is replaced by the Local Area Connection icon. For the record, these are the two icons I'm talking about:

I have had my automatic updates disabled for a while now, so you might think that that's the reason the notification is showing up but I've already disabled that notification using Windows Security Center.
I Have 16 Windows XP Hotfix numbers in my add/delete screen. Cannot find out what they are for and want to delete them if they are not necessary.

Also pressing F3 key in Explorer for "Find" function with result close down of explorer.exe.They seems startup for a split second and then close itself without notice. Now, I cannot see "IPSEC Services" in my services window at all. I can see "lsass.exe" under C:WINDOWSsystem32 directory. However, I do not know how to re-create "IPSEC Services".
