I've downloaded Ccleaner and would like to know if ALL the issues in the Applications are completely safe to delete. Some of them I'm not sure about. I'm running Windows XP Pro, but a Pro I'm not!

I want to be able to install applications into Windows XP so that if the app were to corrupt my Windows installation, I can remove it completely and restore my Windows XP back to a ?good? state. I've installed hundreds, maybe thousands of apps on Windows XP platforms. I've tried all sorts of methods for installing apps. These methods include:

? Creating a system restore before each installation

My hard drive crashed recently and since it has been renewed and Windows XP reinstalled, there is a small icon (I'm told it's a Microsoft icon) appearing
on EVERY screen which I am unable to delete. I will try to describe it, but can send a screen dump if required. They wouldn't uninstall using the conventional method so I just deleted the folders and used Registry Medic to clean up the mess.
The only thing left is in the add/remove programs list.
I have gone in the registry and in the 'uninstall section' removed all things 'Nokia' but still they remain.

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy computer has been running really well for the longest time. I've had no problems at all. Then just like 2 days ago my computer started running really slow. Whenever I open up a messenger it hangs and then freezes. I ran my spybot detector and there were a few things but I got rid of them. My virus scan was clear and I also ran my disk defragmenter. I'm not sure if I got a virus somehow. I deleted all my cookies and files.
View 12 Replies View Relatedfew programs began showing up in the System Tray that I didn't want to open.I went to msconfig/General and checked Selective Startup without knowing whether or not I needed to.Then, I went to Startup and deselected those programs.That worked for a while till I went back to misconfig and checked for Normal Startup Since the unwanted programs appeared again in my System Tray, I unchecked them in Normal Startup mode. But when I boot up my computer, I find that I am still in Selective Startup even though I checked for Normal.

I realised that whenever I start my PC,windows does not respond(i.e. when I click on my internet explorer and all other applications / programs,they do not respond).I have to wait for at least 10-15 mins or restart 2 to 3 times,then windows can respond.I really do not know what is going on.I have scanned my PC with noadware but found nothing.Should I reformat my PC or perform a system restore? In xp, can you delete something from the all programs list but not delete it from your computer?

I had also read CNET's how to use CCleaner and even had followed it while I was cleaning my PC.
One problem though I had observed on that how to is that though it advise you to have the registry backed up so that just in case something goes wrong, you would be able to restore the registry back, it lacks the procedure on how to restore it. After cleaning my PC, noting happens though and I am glad my PC is still running fine with a cleaner environment. But let say if I find something wrong later, how will I able to restore the registry from the backup? Anybody here who knows how? It seems also that I did not find this option inside CCleaner.

View 13 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has been having malware problems, and I want to shut down system restore and run Ewido in safe mode. My question is, when I shut down system restore, and then turn it back on when I'm done, does it kill all restore points? Will that be a problem? Can't I just create a new one if needed? And last, won't new ones be created automatically over time? I've never done this,so I would like to be sure before I do.I probably need to stay away from this before I make a bad situation worse. She does have Avast, Ewido, Spybot,CCleaner,and Spyware Blaster. The problem is, she doesn't update or run them.I updated everything she had and ran them and everything is much better, but still a little bit slow. I thought maybe running Ewido in safe mode might get some that might be hiding in system restore. Would like to know if this is safe to do Thanks......Maggie

When I remove the card, can I just yank it out of the slot, or do I have to right-click on the icon and "Stop" the device? Is it safe to just yank it out?
