View 4 Replies View RelatedIf you want to remove some additional programs that are installed with windows but are not initially visible in Add / Remove, edit a file called "C:WINDOWSINFSYSOC.INF".In there you will find a listing of programs, and you will note that some programs have the word 'hide' at the end.Now when you open Add-Remove Windows Components, you will see a new choice, in this example, "Windows Messenger"

They wouldn't uninstall using the conventional method so I just deleted the folders and used Registry Medic to clean up the mess.
The only thing left is in the add/remove programs list.
I have gone in the registry and in the 'uninstall section' removed all things 'Nokia' but still they remain.
I ran a bunch of different spyware removal tools and now whe nI try to play swat-4 TSS I have the most terrible lag in the world. Played this game for a yr with NO problems. Lag problem started after I ran those programs. I am curious if the spyware removal proggies didn't take a file or two that I need for internet connection.I know there was somewhere in win 98 that I could check windows for missing corrupt window files and have them replaced and or repaired can you do that with XP and how do I get there ?

My computer has been running really slow lately, I don't really know what to do I see some stuff on here about AIM and party poker and money maker or something but I don't use any of those things I don't know where they came from.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy computer has been running really well for the longest time. I've had no problems at all. Then just like 2 days ago my computer started running really slow. Whenever I open up a messenger it hangs and then freezes. I ran my spybot detector and there were a few things but I got rid of them. My virus scan was clear and I also ran my disk defragmenter. I'm not sure if I got a virus somehow. I deleted all my cookies and files.
View 12 Replies View Relatedfew programs began showing up in the System Tray that I didn't want to open.I went to msconfig/General and checked Selective Startup without knowing whether or not I needed to.Then, I went to Startup and deselected those programs. That worked for a while till I went back to misconfig and checked for Normal Startup Since the unwanted programs appeared again in my System Tray, I unchecked them in Normal Startup mode. But when I boot up my computer, I find that I am still in Selective Startup even though I checked for Normal.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI installed IE Beta 7, and have used it for a bit, and it's okay,
but until it's solid I prefer IE6. Can I reinstall 6,
Back when I first installed x64 many months ago, I apparently installed the VIA USB 2.0 driver, before I knew that wasn't required on this OS. Looking for the cause of another problem, while looking through the Event Manager, I found a couple of system errors that turned out to be USB filters that the system was blocking. I didn't even remember installing the driver, and when I check in Add/Remove Programs, it's not listed. I decided to simply delete the filters and the USB driver folder. However, after rebooting, I wasn't able to use my mouse, so I couldn't restore the driver from the Recycle Bin. I ended up having to do a System Restore, which set things as they were. Still, I'm looking for a way to remove this that won't cause problems. The only thing that I can think of is to try a repair installation of the OS, but I'm unsure that would do this either. I'm guessing that the VIA driver fouled up the native USB on the system, and this is the root cause of some mouse problems that I have been trying to fix for a long time.

They then announced a new version and when I downloaded it, the windows were too small for the screens behind them and the procedure was unusable. I asked blueyonder for help but ended up with a frozen pc. I managed to restart it myself and then, tried to uninstall the new pcguard but it won't go away. There is a possibility to instal a new version of the pcguard, but it will not install because the former version will not go. The computer has been behaving strangely since. e.g. :
1] Saying it has to configure HP1Z423 for some things like email or internet, which it did not do before.
2] Starting up in something which looks a bit like safe mode screen, but when enter is pressed, it starts up normally.
Desktop file folders (links from My Documents) suddenly appeared with *.lnk extensions. I have hidden known file extensions but these remain. How can I hide them?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI get alot of system crashes lately and completly being thrown off the internet. I then noticed blinking of the screen when asking to do certain tasks. I have Norton Anti Virus running and is up to date. Everything from AOL{my ISP} to main commands of the system act up and will not function. When I restart my computer, go into SAFE MODE, Click System Restore, the problem does not go away and keeps doing the same thing. I try running commands in the RUN box and the function comes up and then dissappears, I also try deleting some file's that may have currupted other tasks and it will not let me. I then had two viruses that Norton picked up and nothing happened and then deleted.." So either theres more I cant see" or, it's verry possible that my computer is being run by someone other than me
