View 12 RepliesI was recently advised to add and run CCleaner on my system and it appears to be working very well, are there any other small programmes I should think of adding to help my system.
View 6 Replies View RelatedCCleaner was featured last April 18, 2006 on CNET's Download Dispatch Windows edition with a subject ''Mr. Sparkle'', and because of it I had downloaded the software and had my PC Cleaned. I had also read CNET's how to use CCleaner and even had followed it while I was cleaning my PC.
One problem though I had observed on that how to is that though it advise you to have the registry backed up so that just in case something goes wrong, you would be able to restore the registry back, it lacks the procedure on how to restore it. After cleaning my PC, noting happens though and I am glad my PC is still running fine with a cleaner environment. But let say if I find something wrong later, how will I able to restore the registry from the backup? Anybody here who knows how? It seems also that I did not find this option inside CCleaner.
I think i have a virus or spyware . i use Spy Sweeper.Ad-Aware SE Personal .Spybot Search & Destroy CCleaner.but something is stell runing in the back ground.i have no virus programs do any one no any free virus programs.

My question is, when I shut down system restore, and then turn it back on when I'm done, does it kill all restore points? Will that be a problem? Can't I just create a new one if needed? And last, won't new ones be created automatically over time? I've never done this,so I would like to be sure before I do.I probably need to stay away from this before I make a bad situation worse. She does have Avast, Ewido, Spybot,CCleaner, and Spyware Blaster. The problem is, she doesn't update or run them.I updated everything she had and ran them and everything is much better, but still a little bit slow. I thought maybe running Ewido in safe mode might get some that might be hiding in system restore. Would like to know if this is safe to do Thanks......Maggie

I ran the wireless set up wizard from the control panel put my flash drive in the usb port, took my flash drive out of the desktop usb port hub, put it into my laptop, installed. i put the flash drive back into the USB port hub at the desk top and nothing happened - the mouse wouldn't move and no keyboard, so I hit restart.....

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a PC with Win XP SP2. There are 2 users on the PC, each admin users, each with no password. When you start the PC, it displays the Welcome screen, and you can click on either user's icon and Windows logs you in without asking for a password. So far so good. However, if you a)try and switch users, or b)logout and try to log in as either user, Windows now asks for a user password. But there is no password configured! You have to restart the PC every time you want to switch users.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I had XP Home and had one user "Quinn". I upgraded to XP Pro and for some reason, I was now prompted with a popup log in (similar to the one most people have and that I have at work) asking for a password for a user "Matthew". I don't recall setting up this user (my name) and had no password, but if I hit OK I was logged in with no problems.I looked into the User Accounts and saw that Quinn was still the administrator and that Matthew was a user. So I figured I'd keep it simple and got rid of Matthew since , well, I was Quinn and had no password for that account either. Now, when I boot up, I get a prompt for Matthew but by entering no password, I can't get in. The same happens when I try with Quinn. So after all of that here's where I'm at: I need to find a way to get into my computer and bypass the logins since I don't have passwords for wither account.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently a friend of mine used my computer while I was in the shower. I have no problem with my friends using my laptop at all. Although, he felt the need to "delete browser History" from IE7, all of it. With that, he deleted all my saved usernames and passwords, which I never can remember and that's why I save them. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me (different users).
In the dialog window for "Delete Browser History", is there a way to disable the "Delete Forms" and/or "Delete Passwords" buttons? I've seen a way to disable the "Delete History" button from that dialog box. (Pictured Below) I have tried using the same registry edits as the "Delete History" button tweak, but changing the relative info for forms and passwords, and it does not work. I'm running XP PRO - Updated as of this AM.
My PC won't remember usernames and passwords though it prompts me to save them after each time i login.
I have turned it off in Autocomplete and put it back on and no effect.
i did some changes in the control panel as advised by a website to boost game speed.
One of these was to go into the control panel and then admin tools and system and disable some of the automatic loaded programs.
I have also lost the windows xp theme and cannots ee how to restore it.The option is no longer present in the themes available.
I have several e-mail accounts set up in Outlook on my desktop that I want to port over to a new laptop. It will save me the trouble of having to re-create them all over again on the laptop, plus I'm not sure I can remember all the passwords. On the MS website I've searched for "export email accounts" and several variations on that but have come up with nothing. The only thing I can find is how to import the accounts from Outlook Express into Outlook, which is not what I'm looking for.
