Recently a friend of mine used my computer while I was in the shower. I have no problem with my friends using my laptop at all. Although, he felt the need to "delete browser History" from IE7, all of it. With that, he deleted all my saved usernames and passwords, which I never can remember and that's why I save them. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me (different users).
In the dialog window for "Delete Browser History", is there a way to disable the "Delete Forms" and/or "Delete Passwords" buttons? I've seen a way to disable the "Delete History" button from that dialog box. (Pictured Below) I have tried using the same registry edits as the "Delete History" button tweak, but changing the relative info for forms and passwords, and it does not work. I'm running XP PRO - Updated as of this AM.
I have a keyboard with some of those "Extra" buttons on top like those shortcuts "Mail, home, favorites, forward, rewind, play, pause...etc" well you'know the buttons that no one in the world ever uses, now I don't know what happened, but my keyboard got a short-circuit apparently (maybe someone spelled something on it or something) and what happened was, the Up arrow had got shorted with the "My Computer" button, and the left arrow with the "Calculator" shortcut, so each time I press up it opens the My Computer window, and each time I press left it opens Windows Calculator, now you can imagine how annoying that could be when playing games, you press one arrow and poof, you'll be Alt-ctrl-deleting for the next hour, so is there a way to disable those buttons? as in make windows ignore the command once it receives it?...........
I have 2 seperate files (both zipped-1 is word documents, other PSP 8) that I have added passwords to and although,I remember the passwords,I am being told that they are incorrect. Is there any way for me to recover the passwords or to delete them altogether?

I am using Windows XP Professional, with Service Pack 2.I use "SnagIt", to capture Scrolling Windows; however, I cannot capture a Scrolling Window within a Scrolling Window, using my present Screen Capture software. When I complete, and submit a Web-site form, I can't figure out how to save my inquiry for future reference. Is there a feature within "Windows" that would allow me to capture and save the active Scrolling Window, that is submitted on Web-site forms?
When yesterday I turned on the computer and did not have to enter any passwords. I finally realized I could use the wireless set up utility. I ran the wireless set up wizard from the control panel put my flash drive in the usb port, took my flash drive out of the desktop usb port hub, put it into my laptop, installed. i put the flash drive back into the USB port hub at the desk top and nothing happened - the mouse wouldn't move and no keyboard, so I hit restart.....
Is there any way a Windows XP Home Edition PC can be set-up so no one can install any passwords or that will make impossible for him or her to create user accounts and passwords?
I have a PC with Win XP SP2. There are 2 users on the PC, each admin users, each with no password. When you start the PC, it displays the Welcome screen, and you can click on either user's icon and Windows logs you in without asking for a password. So far so good. However, if you a)try and switch users, or b)logout and try to log in as either user, Windows now asks for a user password. But there is no password configured! You have to restart the PC every time you want to switch users.
So I had XP Home and had one user "Quinn". I upgraded to XP Pro and for some reason, I was now prompted with a popup log in (similar to the one most people have and that I have at work) asking for a password for a user "Matthew". I don't recall setting up this user (my name) and had no password, but if I hit OK I was logged in with no problems.I looked into the User Accounts and saw that Quinn was still the administrator and that Matthew was a user. So I figured I'd keep it simple and got rid of Matthew since , well, I was Quinn and had no password for that account either. Now, when I boot up, I get a prompt for Matthew but by entering no password, I can't get in. The same happens when I try with Quinn. So after all of that here's where I'm at: I need to find a way to get into my computer and bypass the logins since I don't have passwords for wither account.
Is there any way as a limited user I can find out what the administrators password is on XP. Or can I find out if Spy software is installed on the machine.
My little paper notebook of passwords is falling apart.I want to save my passwords on my PC.Saving them in Norton Password Manager does not allow me to see what they are.
I want to save them as graphic objects that can be displayed.
What is the kind or type of software that causes a password to be displayed in a graphically complex format that is not readable by software but is readable by a human
when i login sites that require usernames and passwords i have this box come up where i type in my user name and password for that site. my usernames are saved for quick access, but i wish they weren't. where do u change this?
I have a password set up on my admin account and now for some reason, when the computer comes out of sleep, it does not ask for the password. How can I get it ask for password?
I'm looking for a way to create short cuts in XP for addding text or passwords. For example when logging into Yahoo or somewhere else i would like to hit Alt+P for pauljwest . Does anyone know a way to do this.
There are several people who access my home computer and I would like a program that I can install to show me who has been on my computer.. I have 3 children and a niece and nephew who uses my computer and one of them has changed a few passwords on an important account
My PC won't remember usernames and passwords though it prompts me to save them after each time i login.
I have turned it off in Autocomplete and put it back on and no effect.
i did some changes in the control panel as advised by a website to boost game speed. One of these was to go into the control panel and then admin tools and system and disable some of the automatic loaded programs.
I have also lost the windows xp theme and cannots ee how to restore it.The option is no longer present in the themes available.
I have several e-mail accounts set up in Outlook on my desktop that I want to port over to a new laptop. It will save me the trouble of having to re-create them all over again on the laptop, plus I'm not sure I can remember all the passwords. On the MS website I've searched for "export email accounts" and several variations on that but have come up with nothing. The only thing I can find is how to import the accounts from Outlook Express into Outlook, which is not what I'm looking for.
Yesterday I started up the desktop PC (a Dell Dimension 8400 Series), to find that a password had spontaneously appeared on the sole User account.I attempted a Safe Mode start to try and log in as the Admin (also previously unpassworded), in order to reset the User password, only to be faced with another password that hadn't been there previously.I have never put any passwords on either the User or Admin accounts, and these new passwords have seemingly come out of nowhere.
