Under the 'add/remove programs' there is a list of programs, that i did uninstall a while back. So now when i click on uninstall on it in the 'add/remove programs' window, it does nothing but stay there. This must be because its still in the registry. The program is called 'Micrografx'.

Now, no matter how many times I drop it in the recycle bin, and then empty the bin, or right click and delete it, or delete it from windows explorer. It keeps coming back It will be gone for a while... and then even within minutes. it just shows back up.

View 10 Replies View RelatedMy computer had a file that I wanted to remove but instead got this message:Cannot delete file: Access is denied.The file is in use by another program or user.I was told to install unlocker to remove the file. I right-clicked unlocker on that file and it said there is nothing to be unlocked so I deleted the file through the unlocker options. I checked the recycling bin to see if it ended up there but that file was not in the recycling bin. I thought nothing of it and assumed it's gone for good but after I restarted the computer it came back. I also scanned and removed all the bugs from my computer but still no use. It keeps coming back. Although the file keeps coming back it contains nothing and takes up 0 space.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have windows xp home edition on a hp pavilon pc. When i uninstall somthing, somtimes it stops responding near the end and then i have to end task. When i do that it has uninstalled the program but has left the icon in the "install/uninstall programs". There is no way i can get rid of it.if i click uninstall it just says "the installation is missing the file instops.dat. setup will now exit. This has recently happened to my norton antivirus. I tried to uninstall norton antivirus 2004 so i could install norton 360. But it froze at the end of the installaton, so i had to end task. Now the icon is permanantly stuck in the "install/uninstall programs". So norton 360 thinks the program is still installed and i cant install this new anti virus. Because of this my computer is unprotected.

My registry is somehow holding onto this old program even though it does not really exist on my C-drive. First however, I would like to copy over my old files so I don't lose them when I eventually reformat this drive. At my disposal I have 1 working laptop, 1 300 Gig External 3.5 USB 2.0 HD and 2 40 Gig 2.5 (Laptop HD) and USB 2.0 external laptop drive enclosure, Windows XP Install Disc. I have ran scandsk /p (1 error found) and tried running the recovery console. My idea is to use one the 40 gig hard drives for a new install of windows and put the unbootable drive in the external enclosure to copy my files over however on my working computer, I don't believe it is that easy... If I remember correctly, you cannot just copy files off a once bootable hard drive?

There is no Change/Remove button in Add/Remove Programs but the program is there, 150 MB, and the file suggested on the HP website for uninstalling older printers from XP produces a message that it's "unsupported" can't remember exact verbiage, been a while since last tried. Even reinstalled in the hopes that a message would come up to the effect "this program is already installed, do you want install to remove it prior to completing this install," but it just installs the printer again with a number after it ... I'm up to "hp officejet g series - 3."

There Windows XP (which I usually click), a Skeleton Boot (some boot screen program I was screwing with), another Windows XP (haven't used it, maybe a previous installation?), and some other windows option that my computer first came with.
Anyways, I know that I only use the first one so is there a way to eliminate the other 3 from the menu? Ideally I would like to not even see the menu when I boot the computer, I'd like it to just go through to windows.
