Unable To Connect HP Deskjet 340 Parallel Printer To Laptop?
Jun 22, 2006
I want to connect Deskjet 340 printer to my laptop. The problem is that the 340 is a parallel printer and the laptop only has USB ports. When I use a parallel to USB printer cord, the laptop won't recognize the connection. It wants to use LPT1, so it can't find the printer.
I have a Canon Scanner. When I want scan something and I click on print then after the document is finished printing and if I want to click print again to print another document then I get an error saying: " The parallel port may be used by another application. Error Code: 0x00060800 " How do I fix this Problem? The Scaner Program is called: CanoCraft CS-P 3.7.
My laptop has been hijacked, can't connect to TSG, homepage's been taken over. I have ran AWSE6, Search & Destroy, but each time everything comes back as soon as it's fixed. Please help, this is my personal laptop and I need it.
I'm a Windows XP SP1 user and I used to have no problem using Bluetooth. I hadn't used it in a while, though, and when I tried to connect my phone to my laptop today, for some reason, I couldn't access My Bluetooth Places. When I tried to explore it, I got the error "path does not exist or is not a directory."
I had a problem trying to connect my Canon Pixma 4000 so that I could access it wireless via our home LAN. I have one laptop(the wife's) attached directly to the router (cable service from Optimum). My laptop is used wirelessly from another part of the home. All was working well, except I could never get the printer to work so that I could use it wirelessly, so I had it plugged in directly to my laptop. Up to this point, it was all ok. I have AVG and ZoneAlarm running on both computers. A friend, (really) was at my home and volunteered to connect the printer so that it would work wirelessly. He is a UNIX administrator, manages a number of pc's too. I thought, "this is great, my own administrator".
To shorten the story, he removed ZA, the computer will not work wirelessly, only works when connected directly to the modem and the printer doesn't work wireless. I called ZA, and they guided me through removing all the "orphans" that were left behind, so that cleared up a problem whereas I could connect to the net, but couldn't get to another url. I did not re-install ZA yet, because I don't want to add anything else into the mix. I will post a HJT log if that is what is needed. I DO NOT care if the printer works wirelessly. I will live with it connected to the back of my computer, BUT, I do want my laptop to work wirelessly so that both me and my Frau can be on-line at the same time. I have been through the IP address checking, all is ok there. If I try to connect via the SYSLINK wireless, I get nothing, even PING ing different sites gets no valid response. Regrettably, I have some tech knowledge, but not enough to figure out this one.
Every time I turn my printer on, I get the following message: USB device can run faster if you connect to a 2.0 USB port. As I have a lot of USB devices, I purchased a USB hub and have the printer going through it. Everything prints fine, should I swap my devices so the printer runs faster? Will it make a difference?Running XP Home with the following USB devices: scanner, 2 USB printers, memory stick, and keyboard. Keyboard has two USB ports, but same message occurs.
Have an XP box with a shared printer on it. Have setup to allow, network, everyone, anonymous, guest, etc. Anything to let the people print to it without a password. However to do so, all need to connect to the \ipshare first, enter id and password (and admin acct o n the XP box). Then it prints, until they log off then it repeats. I do not want any prompt for a password. With the old NT 4 system there it worked fine. No password. New system and new printer was put in place. Permissions seem right and like I said I tried adding everything to have ti connect without a password. And the last thing I wan tto do is add every single user to that box as an account.

Sorry if this has been asked before. I have an HP pavillion laptop with win XP. I have a movie i made with windows movie maker stored on the LTop. I also have it saved to a cd-r disc. What do i need to do so that I can play the movie (running it from the saved movie on the Ltop, or playing the CD in it on the Ltop) on a TV. I would think that all I need is some sort of cable;the ones that have red/white/yellow ends on them or something similiar.I want to show my family the mini tale i made on my 25" or 32" Sanyo tv, (and not my laptop)
I have my s-video cord connected to my laptop and the tv. Although, I am not able see my computer display on my tv. When I go under display settings, it does not give me an option for multiple monitors.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T61, type 7659, model 2DM laptop. I am trying to use a self-made windows xp pro. disk to use the Repair function on my laptop. This is for multiple reasons, one of them being that in Display Properties the Desktop tab has dissapeared. Nothing on the internet can change the fact. I have backed up all of my settings, just in case. Can you tell me three things?
(1). If everything stuffs up, and i use my backup to fix my computer, will i need all of my disks to reinstall my programs?
(2). Is it possible to connect my pc's cd/dvd drive (PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-115D) to my laptop?
I have a work laptop running Win XP Pro that connects to my company domain, and to a company VPN. I need to be able to print documents at home, where I have a wireless/wired network (workgroup). The printer is a shared printer my home desktop PC (Win XP Home).I'm able to connect to the internet using my home network, but I can't connect to shared computers and printers. Have HP Deskjet 6540 connected to Win98 SE Computer through a USB 2.0 card. Will not print. Talked to HP Tech Support. They said I need USB port on mother board instead of card to have enough power. Correct nor not?
Both wireless and eathernet cable. Using modem ok now with other laptop. Self diagnosis and tech at telco seems to indicate a problem within laptop. Couple of things came up: "Error TCP/IP adapter binding" and "TCP/IP not connected". Tech asked if I hit a keyboard key that shut it down. They referred me to Toshiba. I think I tried all the "Control Panel..Internet Connection" stuff.
Running WindowsXP with SP2. Word 2003. OE6. IE6. Have HP 1210 all-in-one and Canon BJC2010. Both work fine. Problem when I wish to print a document, or e-mail text, or whatever, and click on ctrl+P, or use File menu, or whatever, I always get the printer I do not want to use. I use the HP for scanning and copying, particularly in color, and prefer the Canon for regular printing from Word or OE or IE. But somehow each time, I get the HP rather than the Canon. Now on the window for printing they always have a list of options, so this is not a crisis, just a request to lower the nuisance titre a bit. There should be a place to go to select a default printer.
I have established an Ethernet LAN between my Windows XP HOME SP2 and my Windows XP Professional SP2 PCs. I have printer sharing set in both PCs. The XP Pro PC can see and print on all of the printers on the XP Home machine. However the XP HOME PC can see the XP Pro PC on the network but no access to the XP Pro machine is permitted. I get an error message relating to "Incorrect Logon type" When I click on the XP Pro PC Icon on the XP Home machine. I've read and tried everything I coule find on the subject with no luck.
To solve a Windows problem, I installed Windows XP to a new folder. This is also known as a parallel installation. I now have XP installed in two locations, in the WINXP folder as well as the Windows folder. I want to keep the new WINXP installation and discard the old, problem-laden Windows installation.
If I want to print a document in Landscape format that I have typed in Word, I click on Print/Properties/Basics/Landscape/OK, and it still prints out as vertical or Portrait. How can I get it to print in horizontal or Landscape format?
I have a 3-computer home workgroup that connects to the internet via a Netgear router. I have a Lexmark X74-75 printer/scanner/copier that is connect to one of those computers, and that computer is connected directly to the router. The other two computers print to the Lexmark via sharing. This setup has been working without issue for about 2 years, but in the past week, everything seems to have gone to hell, including the ability to print. This description may be a little long, but I have to be everything I am about to relate is somehow connected.I will do my best to also advise what I have installed, removed, etc., during that period.
I have been having alot of trouble lately. Every time I try to click on a site I get an unable to connect message, if I go back and try again it usually goes through the third or fourth time clicking the link. This is happening with every site. I am running windows ME. I have tried disabling Norton, running ccleaner, all spyware utilities and nothing helps. It has taken me about 45 minutes just to be able to post this message.
