I have established an Ethernet LAN between my Windows XP HOME SP2 and my
Windows XP Professional SP2 PCs. I have printer sharing set in both
PCs. The XP Pro PC can see and print on all of the printers on the XP
Home machine. However the XP HOME PC can see the XP Pro PC on the
network but no access to the XP Pro machine is permitted. I get an
error message relating to "Incorrect Logon type" When I click on the XP
Pro PC Icon on the XP Home machine. I've read and tried everything I
coule find on the subject with no luck.
I had printer sharing set up the first time everything went smoothly. I have 2 pc's on a network 1 is xp home the other xp pro. I had to do a clean reinstall of my operating system on xp pro.Now I've right clicked on my printer on xp home entered the printers name as printer 1. When I go to my other computer and run the wizard I get a box come up saying printer and underneath a larger box. What have I got to put in the printer box my printer is a Lexmark X1100 Series. In the lower box this is where I have had printer names appearing in the past although mine was'ent there I am now getting 'Microsoft windows network' coming up.When i click on the next button I get 'you need to specify a valid printer name.
During my network troubleshooting, I was checking my NIC configuration on my desktop to make sure that file and print sharing was enabled and realized that there is nothing installed, no clients, services, or protocols. When I try to install I got an error message that the file could not be found. This is strange because I get access to the internet. Is this possible?Could this be the reason my laptop cannot access the desktop? How I fix this?
I just bought my wife a Dell Laptop with wireless capability. My desktop is in another part of the house with a printer attaced. I would like for her to be able to use my printer when she is in the kitchen printing out recipes etc. I wentthru the Control panel, Printers and Faxes, right click etc and checked "sharing" on the desktop that has the printer attached. I am not having much success getting the laptop to print. I have Windows XP on both computers.
I'me having a bit of a job trying to share my printer with my other pc I downloaded network magic which is supposed to configure printers to share it did'ent work. I've tried to do it manually but when I click on sharing I get a message 'in order to share this printer an administrator must configure windows firewall to permit the sharing of printers.' I'me the administrator and I thought I had done this.
I am running WinXP on my Gateway pc and my Gateway Laptop. I know that printer and file sharing is an easy procedure. I have done it before and it worked. I know networking the two is a simple procedure and I did that too. My problems began when I switched from dial-up to satellite (Wildblue)internet. Don't know if that could have made a difference. Here is what I've tried so far. I first googled the problem and then took all the advise I could find, followed all the directions and nothing worked. I believe the two machines are networked because they are sharing the internet connection and when I did the 'ping' thing, each computer communicated with the other. I've done the printer sharing procedure over and over and over and when I go to the laptop, the printer on the desktop doesn't even show up. Both the pc and the laptop are on the same workgroup so that's not the problem.I
I have two machines with XP Pro SP2 installed. Prior to installing SP2 I was able to share folders and access the folders by specifying the machineshare name. Now I get an access denied (even though permissions is set to allow everyone full control) . I'm sure it has to do with the new security features included with SP2, I just can't figure out how to get it back without uninstalling the SP.
Running WindowsXP with SP2. Word 2003. OE6. IE6. Have HP 1210 all-in-one and Canon BJC2010. Both work fine. Problem when I wish to print a document, or e-mail text, or whatever, and click on ctrl+P, or use File menu, or whatever, I always get the printer I do not want to use. I use the HP for scanning and copying, particularly in color, and prefer the Canon for regular printing from Word or OE or IE. But somehow each time, I get the HP rather than the Canon. Now on the window for printing they always have a list of options, so this is not a crisis, just a request to lower the nuisance titre a bit. There should be a place to go to select a default printer.
If I want to print a document in Landscape format that I have typed in Word, I click on Print/Properties/Basics/Landscape/OK, and it still prints out as vertical or Portrait. How can I get it to print in horizontal or Landscape format?
I have a 3-computer home workgroup that connects to the internet via a Netgear router. I have a Lexmark X74-75 printer/scanner/copier that is connect to one of those computers, and that computer is connected directly to the router. The other two computers print to the Lexmark via sharing. This setup has been working without issue for about 2 years, but in the past week, everything seems to have gone to hell, including the ability to print. This description may be a little long, but I have to be everything I am about to relate is somehow connected.I will do my best to also advise what I have installed, removed, etc., during that period.
computer keeps giving me this error message and also nphmon06.exe unable to locate component. It won't recognize my hp PSC 2350 all in one printer all of a sudden and I can't get my printer to work because of this. Can someone please tell me how I can remedy this situation? I already tried deleting the download for the printer twice and downloaded it again but I still keep getting this error message. I am at my wits end and need to use my printer.
I used to be able to select text and check the box that says selection and only what i selected would print. That box is now grayed out ALL the time. How can this be fixed? my primary printer is a Brother MFC-8670DN wired to ethernet.Operating system is XP home SP3.
Recently my Dell Dimension 4600 became badly infected. Malwarebytes antimalware and Spybot Search and Destroy now declare my PC virus free, but I have one artifact of the infection. Control panel as well as my software no longer sees my HP8450 printer. This problem first appeared when I was infected, this did not occur during or after cleaning. HP's online troubleshooter does not solve the problem. Further, I am unable to reinstall the printer; I have the original install CD and when prompted, Windows install wizard doesn't recognize the files on the CD. Trying a version of the software downloaded from HP's website, the install sees the device but cannot complete the install. I can't uninstall the printer because Control Panel doesn't recognize it as being installed. The printer is connected via USB cable and all of my other USB devices (mouse, keyboard, external hard drive) all work as they should. The printer was fully operational before the virus infections (Virtumonde.prx and Win32.TDSS.rtk).
We have our own printer driver which basically prints any document to our application (just like Adobe). Our installer creates a named printer port in HKEY_LOACL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTPorts (eg. OurPort). We stop the spooler service and then start it too to refresh the list of ports. Then we create the printer by running this command from within installer. rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /if /b "Our Printer Name" /f "Path of the inf file" /r "OurPort" /m "Printer driver name" /Z Once all this is done, we try printing any document to this printer we created and it does print in our application. But this happens only when the logged on user is either admin or a power user. When we try to login with a local user, and he tries to print a document to our application via our printer, it fails. We can see the document in the printing queue but it shows error-printing.
I have this week bought an Epson C86 printer which I now discover WILL NOT TAKE COMPATIBLE CARTRIDGES.I therefore disconnected it and plugged in my old faithful Epson 880. When I open any document, select the 880 printer and click "Print", nothing happens.I did not uninstall the 880 driver before installing the new C86 printer so why wont it work?
I want to connect Deskjet 340 printer to my laptop. The problem is that the 340 is a parallel printer and the laptop only has USB ports. When I use a parallel to USB printer cord, the laptop won't recognize the connection. It wants to use LPT1, so it can't find the printer.
here's my first problem I can't fix, Heres what I've tried so far:I've reinstalling my Printer, and it still doesnt print I've tried going into Internet Options and sorting out the sites and that..When I try to print from the internet, or even different programs, I get that "Send Error report" thing, and after that it closes. I'm so frustrated!!!! can anyone help?
I have a Windows XP Pro SP2 PC on a P2P LAN. The PC is also running Norton Antivirus 2005.Also on this LAN are several networked printers, one of them being a new HP OfficeJet 7310xi All-In-One printer. This printer is connected directly to the LAN and provides networked printing and scanning to the PCs on the LAN. I have two Windows 2000 Pro PCs and a Mac OS X printing and scanning to that OfficeJet without any problems From the XP box, I can print to the OfficeJet as long as I'm logged as the local administrator. When the user logs in with her user account, she is unable to print. Her jobs get stuck in the queue, labeled "Error - Printing."
In the printer and faxes window there are printer icons listed in addition to my default HP Printer. Whiy are they listed there and what do they do since you can't use them...or can you and if so, how? Two that are listed on my computer are:
I bought a new HP printer today. I had a hotfix installed at some point that shutdown and woke up my printer at shutdown and startup. The new printer isn't affected by this hotfix. Does anyone know where I can get this patch?
Two custom PCs with XP Pro at same SP level. PC1 sees printer through switch. PC2 can not see printer. PC2 connects and sees printer when I cable the USB DIRECTLY to the printer instead of going thru a switch. Therefore, I know PC2 can print. Have tried 2 different switches. An A/B data switch and Belkin's 4x1 USB Peripheral Switch F1U401. PC1 works with both switches but PC2 does not.
We've had to change our address space and therefore the printer address has changed. I've changed the address on all but one computer. On this particular computer when I try to edit the TCP/IP port I get the message:
"An error occurred during port configuration. Access is denied."
If I try to create a new port I can select that I want it to be a Standard TCP/IP Port and then it tells me:
"Specified port cannot be added. Access is denied."
I have connected 3 new PC's on a P2P network, and connected a HP 4610 Color Laser Printer via a JetDirect 175 print server. On one PC, I can only print from the Administrator account. The other 2 computers work fine. On the one that is having issues, when printing a test page I receive a "Failed to Print" error mesage, and looking in the printer jobs menu, it shows that there was an error printing. The Administrator account can print fine from this machine.
The user accounts are "restricted user" accounts on all 3 computers. All 3 computers are exactly the same type, and all have the latest updates.
After a system crash all printers are gone and when trying to add a printer I get the message: "Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running" After starting the service manually and trying to add a printer I get the message:"Operation could not be completed" and the service is stopped again.I looked at some of the previous answers and related topics (like article nine, and Q324757
I'm a tech at a college and am working on this computer that the printer spooler service won't stay started. You start up the machine and go to printers and faxes. There are none listed (of course cause the spooler isn't running) You click on add printer and it tells you that the service isn't running. So you go to run services.msc, printer spooler says it's stopped so you start it. It will then run until you try to print something or go to printers and faxes in the control panel. Basically as soon as you open the window the printer spooler service stops.Does anyone know a fix for this. Last time it happened one of my co-workers found a tool to fix it but we haven't been able to find it since and all the researching I have done leads me nowhere
