Cannot Connect Printer Through Wireless Network
Aug 28, 2006I had a problem trying to connect my Canon Pixma 4000 so that I could access it wireless via our home LAN. I have one laptop(the wife's) attached directly to the router (cable service from Optimum). My laptop is used wirelessly from another part of the home. All was working well, except I could never get the printer to work so that I could use it wirelessly, so I had it plugged in directly to my laptop. Up to this point, it was all ok. I have AVG and ZoneAlarm running on both computers. A friend, (really) was at my home and volunteered to connect the printer so that it would work wirelessly. He is a UNIX administrator, manages a number of pc's too. I thought, "this is great, my own administrator".
To shorten the story, he removed ZA, the computer will not work wirelessly, only works when connected directly to the modem and the printer doesn't work wireless. I called ZA, and they guided me through removing all the "orphans" that were left behind, so that cleared up a problem whereas I could connect to the net, but couldn't get to another url. I did not re-install ZA yet, because I don't want to add anything else into the mix. I will post a HJT log if that is what is needed. I DO NOT care if the printer works wirelessly. I will live with it connected to the back of my computer, BUT, I do want my laptop to work wirelessly so that both me and my Frau can be on-line at the same time. I have been through the IP address checking, all is ok there. If I try to connect via the SYSLINK wireless, I get nothing, even PING ing different sites gets no valid response. Regrettably, I have some tech knowledge, but not enough to figure out this one.
Printer - USB Device Can Run Faster If Connect To 2.0 USB Port
Feb 19, 2006Every time I turn my printer on, I get the following message: USB device can run faster if you connect to a 2.0 USB port. As I have a lot of USB devices, I purchased a USB hub and have the printer going through it. Everything prints fine, should I swap my devices so the printer runs faster? Will it make a difference?Running XP Home with the following USB devices: scanner, 2 USB printers, memory stick, and keyboard. Keyboard has two USB ports, but same message occurs.

Jul 15, 2005Have an XP box with a shared printer on it. Have setup to allow, network, everyone, anonymous, guest, etc. Anything to let the people print to it without a password. However to do so, all need to connect to the \ipshare first, enter id and password (and admin acct o n the XP box). Then it prints, until they log off then it repeats. I do not want any prompt for a password. With the old NT 4 system there it worked fine. No password. New system and new printer was put in place. Permissions seem right and like I said I tried adding everything to have ti connect without a password. And the last thing I wan tto do is add every single user to that box as an account.

Feb 10, 2006My printer locks upp my entire WinXp pro when telling it to print something out.There's nothing wrong with the printer itself or the cables attached to it, a've checked on another comp. Also tried to reinstall the LPT1 port and the drivers several times without no success. Even checked so that there's no other software that interferes with the printer drivers. and did run a virus check, both in Win and in pure DOS-mode, nothing. Starting to suspect that the LPTport on my Mobo- ASUS P4P800E Deluxe is screwed.The setting in BIOS is set to ECP as default and can't be manipulated.

Aug 13, 2005I have Windows XP Professional with SP2. I have 1 GB of RAM and a Pentium 4 running at 2.81 GHz. Things were working AOK until I ran several anti-virus programs being Registry Mechanic, SpyBot, Ad-Aware SE, PestPatrol, & a trial version of Webroot Spy Sweeper. I seemed to start having printing problems (Epson Stylus Photo RX600) after running those. Documents start to print, but only print the first line or two of the document and in color and black and sometimes "garbage" and then it scrolls through and starts on another sheet of paper and so on and so forth. It doesn't stop, so I access my printer monitor and tell it to cancel all documents. Well, it takes forever to do that and so I shut off the printer and then everything seemed to stop printing. The next time I try to print something, I get the same problem. I even downloaded updated Epson printer software from the Epson site and installed it after deleting my old Epson printer software

Apr 30, 2010I'm trying to get my Canon IP8500 printer to work with my Samsung NC20 netbook which is running Windows XP.Usually I simply plug the printer into any Windows XP computer and it'll automatically install the necessary drivers. However, when I plug it into my netbook and instruct Windows XP to automatically search/find and install the drivers, it can't find any.So I've gone onto the Canon website and manually downloaded the drivers, but when I try to install them via the setup.exe it says that a newer driver is already installed, and aborts the setup.The weird thing is that there definitely isn't a driver already installed, because I've even gone into device manager and uninstalled the printer/driver before trying again.

Aug 17, 2005I have connected 3 new PC's on a P2P network, and connected a HP 4610 Color Laser Printer via a JetDirect 175 print server. On one PC, I can only print from the Administrator account. The other 2 computers work fine. On the one that is having issues, when printing a test page I receive a "Failed to Print" error mesage, and looking in the printer jobs menu, it shows that there was an error printing. The
Administrator account can print fine from this machine.
The user accounts are "restricted user" accounts on all 3 computers.
All 3 computers are exactly the same type, and all have the latest
