IF MY PRINTER IS ON (HP PSC 1350 ALL IN ONE) & I turn my computer on My computer freezes. i never makes it to windows. I have to power off my printer then turn my computer on and at that all is ok.
My printer locks upp my entire WinXp pro when telling it to print something out. There's nothing wrong with the printer itself or the cables attached to it, a've checked on another comp. Also tried to reinstall the LPT1 port and the drivers several times without no success. Even checked so that there's no other software that interferes with the printer drivers. and did run a virus check, both in Win and in pure DOS-mode, nothing. Starting to suspect that the LPTport on my Mobo- ASUS P4P800E Deluxe is screwed. The setting in BIOS is set to ECP as default and can't be manipulated.
I'm having problems with my HP 6122 printer, trying to print a cover for a family history. The cover contains a small b/w photo in center, a caption of one line and framed with a thin blue line, and the whole page framed with the same blue line on the border.I wanted the photo to be printed in "best" as anything less bring moire to the photo.Every time I have tried to do this, the printer does nothing for a minute or so, then proceeds to print the entire page black. What has happened?I can't afford to waste any more black ink, even when I'm watching so I can stop the printing before the whole page is covered.I usually have 2+ inches before I can see it to turn the Printer off.
In the printer and faxes window there are printer icons listed in addition to my default HP Printer. Whiy are they listed there and what do they do since you can't use them...or can you and if so, how? Two that are listed on my computer are:
I have Windows XP Professional with SP2. I have 1 GB of RAM and a Pentium 4 running at 2.81 GHz. Things were working AOK until I ran several anti-virus programs being Registry Mechanic, SpyBot, Ad-Aware SE, PestPatrol, & a trial version of Webroot Spy Sweeper. I seemed to start having printing problems (Epson Stylus Photo RX600) after running those. Documents start to print, but only print the first line or two of the document and in color and black and sometimes "garbage" and then it scrolls through and starts on another sheet of paper and so on and so forth. It doesn't stop, so I access my printer monitor and tell it to cancel all documents. Well, it takes forever to do that and so I shut off the printer and then everything seemed to stop printing. The next time I try to print something, I get the same problem. I even downloaded updated Epson printer software from the Epson site and installed it after deleting my old Epson printer software
I'm trying to get my Canon IP8500 printer to work with my Samsung NC20 netbook which is running Windows XP.Usually I simply plug the printer into any Windows XP computer and it'll automatically install the necessary drivers. However, when I plug it into my netbook and instruct Windows XP to automatically search/find and install the drivers, it can't find any.So I've gone onto the Canon website and manually downloaded the drivers, but when I try to install them via the setup.exe it says that a newer driver is already installed, and aborts the setup. The weird thing is that there definitely isn't a driver already installed, because I've even gone into device manager and uninstalled the printer/driver before trying again.
My computer was running slow so I thought I'd be "smart" and delete a few files. I guess I deleted something important because since then I haven't been able to access any hardware. I tried to repair by going back to an earlier setting but it wont do that either. I can't reinstall my Windows XP because my computer doesn't recognize that the disk is there. Can I download from the internet? I have the following: Microsoft XP SP2 Version 2002.
I bought a new HP printer today. I had a hotfix installed at some point that shutdown and woke up my printer at shutdown and startup. The new printer isn't affected by this hotfix. Does anyone know where I can get this patch?
Two custom PCs with XP Pro at same SP level. PC1 sees printer through switch. PC2 can not see printer. PC2 connects and sees printer when I cable the USB DIRECTLY to the printer instead of going thru a switch. Therefore, I know PC2 can print. Have tried 2 different switches. An A/B data switch and Belkin's 4x1 USB Peripheral Switch F1U401. PC1 works with both switches but PC2 does not.
I'm having trouble with pages not loading when I'm on the internet using Netzero and Internet Explorer. It seems to be secure pages mostly (every time I want to order something online, or when I go to a company's application center and try to apply for a job.I am on my second printer (HP 3740). Granted, it's not top of the line, but I just bought it because my old one was broken (I thought) and now it is starting to have the same problems as the last one, and the problems started about a week after I bought it. It started with the printing getting faded, like the cartridge was running out of ink, then it went through the motions of printing but no ink was on the paper. Next it will stop moving, even though the power light comes on.
I want to know if adding a fax means physically connecting a fax machine with the computer. If a fax machine is not needed, do I receive faxes via my printer? How do I fax to others?
We've had to change our address space and therefore the printer address has changed. I've changed the address on all but one computer. On this particular computer when I try to edit the TCP/IP port I get the message:
"An error occurred during port configuration. Access is denied."
If I try to create a new port I can select that I want it to be a Standard TCP/IP Port and then it tells me:
"Specified port cannot be added. Access is denied."
I have connected 3 new PC's on a P2P network, and connected a HP 4610 Color Laser Printer via a JetDirect 175 print server. On one PC, I can only print from the Administrator account. The other 2 computers work fine. On the one that is having issues, when printing a test page I receive a "Failed to Print" error mesage, and looking in the printer jobs menu, it shows that there was an error printing. The Administrator account can print fine from this machine.
The user accounts are "restricted user" accounts on all 3 computers. All 3 computers are exactly the same type, and all have the latest updates.
After a system crash all printers are gone and when trying to add a printer I get the message: "Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running" After starting the service manually and trying to add a printer I get the message:"Operation could not be completed" and the service is stopped again.I looked at some of the previous answers and related topics (like article nine, and Q324757
I believe its a problem with the actual start up button instead of the computer itself, ive pried the thing open, seeing the generator is on, everythings in place and there are lights on, showing there is power. any ideas?
I'm a tech at a college and am working on this computer that the printer spooler service won't stay started. You start up the machine and go to printers and faxes. There are none listed (of course cause the spooler isn't running) You click on add printer and it tells you that the service isn't running. So you go to run services.msc, printer spooler says it's stopped so you start it. It will then run until you try to print something or go to printers and faxes in the control panel. Basically as soon as you open the window the printer spooler service stops.Does anyone know a fix for this. Last time it happened one of my co-workers found a tool to fix it but we haven't been able to find it since and all the researching I have done leads me nowhere
Im new, so bear with me please. The problem is on my old Sony Viao Model PCG-6H4L XP. I wanted to start fresh and the recovery system for windows gives me only a limited number of dates. I thought that the Viao recovery would do the job.I was wrong. I haven't checked recent forums about problems with this, so I went ahead and broke my laptop. Before the Recovery system starts, my laptop says, with a black background.
I have an older somputer I use to Host Games online...seemed fine last few nite .however the last 2 oe 3 times I have started it...it takes forever to start and a screen appears saying sorry for any inconveinince but windows could not start..etc etc..gives options to start in Normal mode safe mode or last known good configuration..wich is what I tried after turning it off and back on again..still nothing..I can get it to start in safe mode....but it wont boot up in normal mode..just hangs at "Windows XP" screen...Its an older Pentium4 Dell Dimension4300.
I am new to this form, so I guess I will just start. I have a,Dell Dimesion p4 2.5 ghz or close?windows XP service pac 2.I use it mostly for college papers and the internet. no gaming. It's about two years old, always do the windows updates.Three days ago my computer was running great. Then for whatever reason it just shut off by itself. I started it back up, it was fine for about 1 day then it shut down. I tried to start it again, but, to no avail.I got a screen that had rows of color bars with numbers in them.I opened up the box, it was pretty dusty, so I cleaned it up.I started to resolve the problem by checking to see if the ram was bad. I took one bar out and tried to restart after each ram chip. the result was the dell logo comes on tries to start no more color bars ( the fan starts out fine then takes off real fast) then it shuts (all power) down. I try, when I power on to tap the f8 key, or f12 key to get into the bios it shuts down befor anything can happen. I think that is it. I want to thank anyone for there time in helping me resolve this problem.
I have two computers with "issues", and now it's gotten so bad, I just need to get them sorted out. This is "my" desktop. I don't think I have had a thread on it before. But my daughter uses it for school and surfing and I have a feeling where my kids surf, it's infecting our computers.
I was using my computer one day when i had been playing a game.I took out the game cd so i could start using different cd for something else but strangely i went to my computer and it still showed the game cd as being in the drive. I thought well no problem ill just restart the computer and it should be fine. I did, and when i logged in, a new problem. All of my desktop was missing, and it had been loading for a few minutes so i just cut it off again and turned it back on in hope that it would finally work correctly. Instead, the opposite happened When i turned it back on for the 2nd time, it went to the screen where it says "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully." So, i have the option of choosing safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last good configuration, or normally. Unfortunately, not a single one of them work.
A few years ago, we had a hard drive on the family computer replaced. At that time, we could turn on the computer, and do everything we normally could. However, it was extremely slow, due to a virus.Best Buy simply recommended a replacement, since the computer was out of warranty.Yesterday I get the bright idea to try that harddrive on my personal computer, not the one it came from. I figured if it only had a virus on it, I could reformat it, and just use it as extra space. So I hook it up, and turn on my computer. The Compaq screen pops up, and goes away. Then a new screen pops up saying that the Hard Drive Failure was imminent, and I should back up my files, and replace the harddrive. That was not the error which I had received a few years ago. It gives me the option to hit F1 for setup, or hit F2 to continue. The F1 key simply took me to the Bios. So I hit F2, and my bootloader booted up. (Ubuntu Linux bootloader with Windows XP. However, I'm thinking about ditching Ubuntu, as I never use it.) However, it was so slow, I wasn't about to continue. After waiting for about 2 minutes, I decided to turn my computer off, disconnect the HD I was installing, and just go back to the old way I had it.(That part of the bootloader should load in about 3 seconds when everything is working fine.)So I turn off my computer, disconnect the power, and rehook everything up as it was before. I turn it back on, and it was as if the old hard drive is still in there.
Every time I try to start my computer (Running Windows XP) it seems to do fine until just before it reaches the log-on screen. A blue screen flashes really fast that says something to the effect of "Physical Memory Dumped". It flashes to fast for me to read it completely, but that's the jist of it. After the flashing screen the computer restarts and continues in that loop.I tried a start up disk from another computer but that didn't do anything.
Im running windows xp Last night I made the mistake of simply unplugging the computer Now, When I turn it on, it says windows did not shut down properly Safe mode safe mode with networking safe mode command prompt last settings that worked start normally I can pick any of them, and when I do, the windows XP splash comes up, the blue bar scrolls for a bit, a blue screen with writing flashes very fast and it restarts all over again I also allowed it to count down the 25 seconds or whatever, its just a big loop
I have a toshiba laptop. It was working fine. I think my daughter shut it down wrong. Now it opens to the menu to select Normal, Safe Mode, etc. No matter what I pick it begins to start, gets past the Windows logo screen and then a blue screen flashes up and it restarts before you can ever read the letters on the blue screen. It just keeps cycling. Will not start. I am on XP sp2. Can't tell much else since I cannot even figure out how to get it started. I have removed the battery for 5 minutes and pulled the power cord.
