I restored my laptop after a crash and re-installed everything.About the only new program I added was the beta version of MS Anti-Spyware.Whether it's that, or some setting I'm missing either in XP or Outlook, I can no longer open my browser from within Outlook including not only links, but online help, etc.
It doesn't seem like any of the posts that I've seen have the same detailed characteristics as my situation. Whenever my computer is started and logged on, a few minutes go by, then the message "unable to launch restart.exe" pops up. Once we hit the OK button, everything seems to be fine. So it's not a big problem, but it's kind of a nuisance.
As I said previously, I have read MANY other posts regarding this error, but it seems everyone was having much more serious problems regarding this message. This computer seems to run just fine after we hit the OK button on the error message. FYI... this is an HP computer, running XP Home Edition, P4 2.93 Ghz, 1 Gig ram, Ad-aware is installed, and Norton Internet Security 2006, both of which are fully up-to-date and scans have been performed. All standard windows disk utilities have also been run. I don't know what else is appropriate to tell you. I do have Hijack This installed and have run it once... but at the time I wasn't registered for any of these help forums. If needed I can run it again and save the log file for someone to assist me.
Sometimes this computer will start, sometimes it wont When it doesnt, the On button just flashes orange, when it should be solid green. Sometimes it will start up and get to the log on screen and then just shut down and flash orange. It works fine when it does turn on. Iv been through the dell help and support stuff and that doesnt help
Have XP Home Edition with all current updates. Do not have toolbars locked. By mistake, moved the whole Quick Launch Taskbar and lost it. When I went to Start > Properties > and enabled Show Quick Launch, I got it back with all my icons. The problem is that they are no longer displayed in the order that I want and I can not drag them to change the order. Sometime in the past, I was able to drag them to change their rder. Again, I do not have the toolbars lock set. I went to my application dataMicrosoftIEQuick Launch and changed the sort order of the folder but it did not change the display order when I rebooted the system.
Just few days ago this was working very well, now suddenly it has responding as mentioned below. When i try to open the swf file locally saved from IE 7. i get message box in IE telling as followed. When I click a link, the windows icon in the top right moves. As soon as I move my mouse that icon stops and I have no idea why this happens. It does not happen all the time and I have played around with it to isolate which windows and when it happens.....but it's not just my computer, but my work computer as well.
I just did a spybot-search and destroy check on my computer today and something really lame came up with my system fonts. First thing I noticed was that my browser fonts in firefox are messed up. is this the same settings you have? because for some reason I'm getting a Garmond type font.
Is there any way to have a default Browser? I want every program that has links to open up in say. Firefox, I have tried setting it as my default browser in the settings option, and in "Set programs access and defaults". It works quite well... But can I get MSN Messenger to open up in that browser? When I click on my e-mails or MSN Space Etc. It opens up in Internet Explorer. Is there ANY way to open it in my default browser?
I have powerpoint viewer 2003 which will open .pps and .ppt files on my hard-drive, but will not open them as e-mail attachments received in OE6. This is very inconvenient, and I want to remedy the problem. I do not have MS office 2003, but the stand-alone MS powerpoint viewer 2003. I am using WinXP Media Center Edition, version 2002, with SP2 installed.
I am unable to open any hyperlink or any website that is contained in my microsoft outlook email.I get the following error messages. "Windows cannot open this file. I have Windows XP Home operating and use Microsoft Office 2000. Under Internet Options I have selected Outlook Express for my email service and this has been working satisfactorily for over 2 years. Recently when choosing to send a photo file as an email attachment, I get directed to Microsoft Outlook which has no "send" option. Two other users on my computer have no problems and automatically get Outlook Express for the same procedure. Why doesn't Outlook Express come up for me?
I have the XP home and had the Zone alarm installed. Since I have installed the new service pack for XP I have problems with the outlook. It shows me sending & receiving error and doesnt open. I reset the account again for outlook after consulting the ISP but still not luck.
I got a message from Outlook asking permission to compress my e-mail file folders. It's done this before and I've always let it with no problem.I fired up my computer yesterday and discovered that all my e-mail folders, all received and sent messages have disappeared.I thought my wife may have accidentally erased the files so I checked the Recycle Bin. There were several .bak files with the same names of the file folders.I figured hit the restore button and the files would be restored.
I have Windows xp pro on an IBM Think Center. I can receive, download and print a large file using Outlook Express. If I then try to forward this file, either the recipient gets it but is unable to open it or it is scrambled and unreadible... OR... the recipient never recieves it and then I receive 2 or 3 emails (depending on the size of the file) stating FROM: "mail delivery system" and SUBJECT: "delivery status notification". I AM able to upload or forward small files of say 2 or 3 pages without a problem. I've tried to find some setting that I could change but have be unsuccessful.
I am half way computer literate, but this one has me. I am hoping someone can tell me where to look. When I open Internet Explorer, my home page (www.google.com) opens. When it is finished loading, it automatically redirets to yahoo mail login page. The catch is, all my browsers windows that are open will be changed too. If I hit "stop" before the page is loaded, then hit "refresh", this action does not occur. I have Microsoft updates automatically downloade do my computer. I have the latest MacAfee anti-virus on my computer and have run the latest scan. I have run Microsoft beta spy-ware, ad aware and yahoo's version. I am not seeing anything.
After power outtage (yes I do know about UPSs)-after power returned I am unable to input text in any kind of field including Word, Notepad, ol express, URL boxes-nothing. I re-booted twice but still no joy.

When I try to open either program, a message states that it is an out-of-date version, then the windows installer comes up, then an error saying it cannot find 'omint.dll' cannot be found. I have tried to reinstall Outlook from XP, then from Office 2003 disks (original and a second copy with service packs), but I cannot get installer to install the programs
