Trying To Hibernate System Straight To BSOD
Jul 26, 2007I have no idea why, but when i try to hibernate, the computer goes straight to BSOD and then resets, boots windows and its as if nothing ever happened. WTF Is going on?

Mar 7, 2010I recently installed SP3 and IE8 along with all updates. All went well except now Hibernate and Standby often kill the system including the cursor. If I boot and try Hibernate or Standby it usually works, but if I run for a while and try them they hang the system. The problem did not exist before I installed SP3 and IE8.

Jul 31, 2010In the last week or so, i've been unable to hibernate my computer.When i click the button to hibernate, the screen will go blue and say "Preparing to hibernate" as normal, but then it quickly flashes back to whatever i had before on the screen.
Strangely, i can still standby or shutdown the computer with no problem. And im not getting any error messages or anything about it.It just won't hibernate.So far, i've tried System restore to bring it back to an earlier date. But that didn't work.I tried restore it to another earlier date, and that failed (it wouldn't restore it. probably because there weren't any changes to be made. i don't know.)I also tried un-installing my virus software (McAfee) and then re-installing as i thought that may be the problem, but it didn't solve it.I also tried opening "Power Options" in the control panel. From there i unchecked "Enable hibernate" and restarted the computer. I then checked "Enable hibernate" and restarted again.
Slipstream Straight To SP2?
Oct 10, 2005So I have an XP home disk (better than nothing) that is pre SP1! I know.. Gay... Can I stream in XP2 without having to Stream SP1 into the disk and not have any problems?

Mar 12, 2008Every time I log on my web browser takes me to my hme page although it is set at 'About Blank' When I close this down it asks me if I want to disconnect. How can I stop this happening? Also, I am about to change from dial up (yep a bit slow) to broadband. Is it best to remove my old dial up programme? It also came with basic Norton security but I looked in Add/Remove progs to uninstall but can't find it anywhere?

Whenever I try to hibernate my computer, the message, "Insufficient system resources to complete the API." comes up. Afterwards, anything concerning hibernation disappear and the hibernation button cannot be clicked. I have noticed that the little messenger icon is at the bottom righ hand side of the screen in the start up section.Does any one know how to get rid of this. Even if there wasn't any programs running - straight from the start screen, when I went to type in my password - j. jjj. jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj. Though, y'know, it was just a series of dots, since it was in the password box. But.they were 'j's. It doesn't seem to matter whether there is actually anything like Word open, either. After getting rather annoyed at the computer, and button-mashing the entire keyboard, it stopped repeating 'j' and started on '`'. Not... not actually better.

Jan 9, 2009i had a computer which had a pretty bad visus on it. i think i got the virus out but now it wont start.I tried to do a repair of windows with what i thought was the disc for the pc, turns out it was a different xp version than the one on the pc.
So how i have the original corrupted windows, and the repair version of xp on the machine. Both of which will not even run.Its really important that i get the data of the pc, that was the whole point of what i am doing. the computer starts, then said it didnt load, i choose how i want to start the pc, safe mode...etc and then it freezes.Sometimes it just goes straight to a black screen, and i can no longer get it to boot from the windows disc.

I can't go into safe mode or anything, it'll just do the same thing again. Oct 6, 2006It all started when a friend gave me a 4 port USB Hub come clock and cup warmer!!! which I plugged into my pc. I plugged my printer into it, when I switched off the printer the system crashed to a BSOD. On reboot, as I remember, it came up with a splash screen I have never seen before (ASUS I think) then a BIOS set up page! I left the settings as they were and clicked ok, I think it was set to 700mhz. Since then it has been going to BSOD every time I switch off, or when I play Tiger Woods 2006 and go to save or move on to the next level of the game. It recently rebooted with the BIOS set up again which I changed to 933mhz hoping it was just that causing the problem!! Also when it reboots I get the voice telling me it has gone thru POST and booting from operating system. I have recorded stop errors from the last two crashes if it helps.

At first this was mainly occuring with 3D games (Oblivion, HL2 etc) and nv4_disp.sys etc and sometimes portcls.sys, but then it started happening more often and usually D1 with portcls.sys. Sep 15, 2007I have a optical disk from my old build and 1 ide hard disk with xp installed.
I have tried booting from the ide hard disk with xp installed but when the xp loading splash screen is about to come a BSOD appears and it restarts. I can't read the BSOD as it goes to fast and i can't stop it.
Used the hard disk back with my old system and there is no problems, everything runs fine.
I have tried using 1 ram stick, both sticks, ram in different slot, every configuration i could think of. But i still have the problem. Tried the ram on a different system and it is fine. i can't get to run xp on this new system.

BSOD Erros And System Restore Not Working
May 7, 2006First of all, System Restore never works. Ever. Not a single time in the 2+ years I have had this machine. I have it set to automatically make restore points, but when I try to restore to them it just tells me that it was incomplete and no changes have been made to my system. Then, recently (in the past few days), I've been getting BSOD's with errors of either win32k.sys (0x08E) or NDIS.sys (0x0DI, DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL). Microsoft Crash Analysis has twice told me it was a RAM issue, and twice told me it's a driver issue.

I’ve booted Windows several times and the hex addresses all stay the same. I’m thinking it might be useful to upload the memory dumps, but don’t know how to do this. I have made several small attempts to repair the system. Firstly I started the computer in safe mode and scanned the hard drive using AVG Free, which (surprisingly) found several Trojans and other viruses. This made no difference when starting the computer, so I pressed F8 again when Windows was starting and chose ‘Last Known Good Configuration’ which again made no difference. Finally I started the computer in ‘Safe mode with Command Prompt’ and ran ‘chkdsk’ which found no errors...........

Apr 3, 2009I was doing a clean up with Ccleaner etc and in my haste I did not take note of what I was clicking. Spybot Search and Destroy flashed up and I clicked to allow, or not allow as the case may be, to do something to, from what I can remember, 'WLON' or something similarly named. In any case, what happens now is that I fire up the computer, enter my password, the desktop briefly flashes up for a split second(no icons) and then it immediately logs off and goes to password entry again.
