i want to show my icons(mu computer, recyle bin, etc) in start line (as icon appear in Nokia N70)
How can i show them in straight line
I am running Windows XP, Intel P4 (531), 1024 RAM, Gateway PC. Each time I restart my PC, all of the icons on my desktop reset and line up on the left side of the screen. I move them back to where I want them and organize. If I reboot again, the icons reset again. What can be causing this and how can I fix the problem?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI came home last night and got back on my laptop. When I turned it on some message came on after I put in my password, something about programs, then my screen came up with all my icons. My background pic that I had was gone, it was now Gateway, (like it reset itself), so I went into my pictures to reset it and all my Pictures, documents, etc are gone. I have no idea how to retrieve them. I did a full virus scan, and there is no viruses, etc on it, so can anyone please tell me whats going on? Another thing that I noticed is everytime I turn my laptop off, and turn it back on, everything I did as far as changing my homepage is gone as well, even all the sites I just visited, like it keeps resetting. Someone replied with a link that gave me some things to do, but none of it worked. I did system restore and it said nothing has been changed, I tried doing new user account but nothing is transferring to it.I have no idea how to retrieve these files. All the icons are there, but everything is gone from them.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am working on a machine where the machine boots up fine. I log into XP Pro SP2 and it starts to load but never finishes. I have a wallpaper but icons and no taskbar. The only I can open the task manager and try to start the explorer.exe process, but it never starts. It does the same thing in safe mode. I have cleaned some trojans, spyware and a ton of adaware by slaving the HDD and ran a defrag. I performed a CHKDSK /r using BARTS's PE and it fixed a few errors. I then ran a sfc /scannow. I updated all windows updates. I ran a repair on XP. I checked the startup and found nothing suspious. When I go into the add remove programs it locks up the PC.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if my com is infected with spyware, virus, or some other things or not. but it seems to work rather slow recently, and sometimes the icons on the right bottom conner next to the clock just don't show up.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAfter running Ad-aware, a trojan file was detected that couldn't be quarantined, cleaned or deleted. Husband found a way to get it deleted, but there was a warning saying that it was associated with another file. Deleted anyway.
Ran McAfee VirusScan and deleted unwanted programs it detected. After that, the mouse wouldn't work, so shut computer down by holding button in until shutdown (only way it could be shut down).
Start up went normal until the desktop background came up. Message stating "C: couldn't be found, check address again(???)" popped up. I clicked OK then it just sat there. I shut it off again.
Start up went normal again up through desktop background. No message this time. Mouse seems to work, but no icons or start up blue bar.
The only thing we can think of is the deleted file was associated with our desktop icons.
I find that certain programs show up blank boxes, instead of the icons which are supposed to be there. For example when I click on Mcafee antivirus software, it opens up a blank box. I can't remove it through 'add remove programs' because when i click 'remove' on it another blank box pops up,which is actually supposed to have the 'uninstall' icon. The same is the case with System restore. I cant do a system restore because nothing comes up when i click on it except a blank box. I do not know what other programs would have this kind of problem. Please help me resolve this issue.
View 4 Replies View Relatedon my laptop the icons don't show up or start bar only the backround. I don't download much so i think it might be a hacker getting in through my unsecure wireless network because this happened to my other laptop as well.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes when WinXP SP2 starts not all the start up icons show, but the programs are running. However, there is no access. I reboot and there they are. Once in a while a program will not start generally it is SpySweeper or PowerPanel. Just started recently. System has been swept with SpySweeper, Adaware Pro SE, SpyHunter, and Norton AV 2005.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI get an error message saying that An exception occurred while trying to run " "C:WINDOWSsystem32mfyuv.dll" DllGetVersion", only the .dll file is a different one each time I reboot the system. And I can't find any of the .dll files online at all. Not only that, but when the computer is starting up internet explorer is using up all of the memory, even though I can't see anything on screen. This slows everything down and I have to turn it off using the task manager to give enough memory to the System Idle Process.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I booted up my computer this morning, Windows loaded, I signed in, and then it took nearly an hour and a half to get the program icons to come up on the desktop. When I try to open one, it can take upwards of 20 minutes to do so, then response within the program is no better. It seems like all the resources are under use, but no one can see what's bogging it down.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSometimes you may find the left/right chevron on your notification tray disapears and your icons will no longer hide.To restore the hiding function, just do the following.1. Right click on an empty part of the Taskbar2. From the popup menu select 'Properties'3. The 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' window will open.4. Now click the 'Customize...' button5. The 'Customize Notifications' window will open.6. In the column 'Behavior' set each one to 'Always hide' (you only need to do this for the Current Items not the Past Items)7. Now click 'OK'8. The window will close, all your icons will be hidden, and the chevron button will appear again.9. Now click 'Customize' again and restore all your icon settings to what they were before, or whatever you prefer.10. Click 'OK' again to close the window.11. Click 'OK' to close the last window.Your icons will all be hidden until you start using them again. They will then appear as they did before, until Windows looses them again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedCurrently using XP Pro, SP2 with P4 3.2, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD (90% free). While using explorer to open a folder and display the files in it, the illustrator (ai) files (hundreds of it in one folder) were shown with the generic/windows system icons first and gradually been transform to the Illustrator files icon. The process took so long and made a system in hold/freeze. It happens as well when tried open files using File Open in Adobe Illustrator or Design in the very same folder and files. I've tried solve it using Display Appearance Effect as well as using regedit to modify the value on Max Cached Icons in registry but didn't work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedApologies in advance for this being in the wrong place, etc. I'm just a little stuck, and not the most savvy person with computers. So, I have this laptop - Windows XP. Maybe a year old. Never had any problems with it before. But about two days ago, I turned it on and it just started repeating the letter 'j'. With irregular pauses. Even if there wasn't any programs running - straight from the start screen, when I went to type in my password - j. jjj. jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj. Though, y'know, it was just a series of dots, since it was in the password box. But.they were 'j's. It doesn't seem to matter whether there is actually anything like Word open, either. After getting rather annoyed at the computer, and button-mashing the entire keyboard, it stopped repeating 'j' and started on '`'. Not... not actually better.
