when i log on to my laptop it begins to load up my desktop and it only gets as far as the wallpaper then it immediately logs me off again. so i cant get into my comp to try and fix it.
View 14 RepliesI select my account and enter my password. Windows begins to load my personal settings but then quits and goes back to the login screen showing the user accounts. I can stop this from happening by moving the mouse while my settings are being loaded.

I'm going to attempt to see what PAV pulled out using a linux live distro and maybe restore any missing files via recovery console,

-I get to the screen where you choose a user
-Whatever user i choose, it goes to log on and then immediatly logs off and goes back to the user screen.
How can i fix this? Sorry if i've missed off any info needed to help on this
So the desktop i think is infected with malware or something because every time i try to log in on any ones name (even in safe mode) it logs off. i tried looking at other forums but i couldn't understand what they were saying and TechGuy has never failed me before so any ideas?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried cleaning up some of the spyware that is on my computer the other day. Once I had, I restarted. The welcome screen appeared, it flashed my background and then went to a welcome screen with my name on it. I click on my name, the log in music plays, my background appears and then the log out music plays and I am right back at the welcome screen with my name on it. I have tried opening in every type of safe mode and all other available options when I hit F8. I called the maker of my computer and they said it is a spyware problem

I was working on it the other day and it randomly restarted, and came up with the classic user log on screen. i.e. where you must enter your username and password, not the one where it gives you a choice of user names. Also, before it loaded this screen, it flashed an unusual blue screen momentarily. I tried to log on using my username, and it started to log me on, made the traditional windows log on noise, but the dialog bow said logging out at the bottom, which is what it did moments later and I found myself back at the classic log on screen. I have tried several times to log on, I have restarted my computer, and I have started it in safe mode and it keeps doing the same thing.

It comes to the welcome screen and show my desktop wallpaper and suddenly loggin off ...i tried both users of my computer but same issu.... last good config. login also not works. but now i cant even loggin in safe mode. i tried some forums but no tricks worked...i boot from xp cd and changed ntuser.dat to wsaupdater.dat ....but till i cant login...I think if i can able to change that registry startup value somehow then it is possible...but i dont know how can i change those value.

I go to log in on my Windows XP Home sp2 and when I log in, the background flashes then instantly logs me off. Happens in safe mode aswell as safe mode under the admin account.Ok I know alot of you have heard of this but, here is the deal, The windows xp home cd does not pick up my harddrive, I cant get signed in through normal mode aswell as safe mode, Last know config does crap, I have it hooked up to my friends pc right now and I just backed up all my important files. (i've only been patient enough to leave it for 15 minutes) screen showing the desktop image.I can open the Task Administer and see there are some processes working (scvhost.exe mainly). I notice this not in the cpu-usage column, but on the memory-usage column, where these processes change the used memory (not in great numbers, though) Fast user switching works fine if i dont sign off of any account (I currently have only two).

Every time I log on my web browser takes me to my hme page although it is set at 'About Blank' When I close this down it asks me if I want to disconnect. How can I stop this happening? Also, I am about to change from dial up (yep a bit slow) to broadband. Is it best to remove my old dial up programme? It also came with basic Norton security but I looked in Add/Remove progs to uninstall but can't find it anywhere?

When I start up my PC, the messenger table comes up on the screen straight away and blots out my normal homepage. I have noticed that the little messenger icon is at the bottom righ hand side of the screen in the start up section.Does any one know how to get rid of this. I want to keep messenger but I do not want it coming up on my screen every time I start the PC.

Maybe a year old. Never had any problems with it before. But about two days ago, I turned it on and it just started repeating the letter 'j'. With irregular pauses. Even if there wasn't any programs running - straight from the start screen, when I went to type in my password - j. jjj. jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj. Though, y'know, it was just a series of dots, since it was in the password box. But.they were 'j's. It doesn't seem to matter whether there is actually anything like Word open, either. After getting rather annoyed at the computer, and button-mashing the entire keyboard, it stopped repeating 'j' and started on '`'. Not... not actually better.

View 10 Replies View Relatedi had a computer which had a pretty bad visus on it. i think i got the virus out but now it wont start.I tried to do a repair of windows with what i thought was the disc for the pc, turns out it was a different xp version than the one on the pc.
So how i have the original corrupted windows, and the repair version of xp on the machine. Both of which will not even run.Its really important that i get the data of the pc, that was the whole point of what i am doing. the computer starts, then said it didnt load, i choose how i want to start the pc, safe mode...etc and then it freezes.Sometimes it just goes straight to a black screen, and i can no longer get it to boot from the windows disc.
as above, pentium 4 windoiws xp black screen on startup cannot see bios menu or get to safe mode.

The yellow emblem is in the task bar after I boot. Nothing happens when I click on it. When I try to restart the timer goes on and it seems like the computer is frozen. I have never had problems with updates before but this time the download was very slow yesterday and I never got the message to install. When I went to turn off computer 3 updates were ready to install so I let them install.

But the moment I reboot Windows reinstalls them again and after my next reboot my data transfer, and my comp in general is slow again.I have no clue as to why my comp runs fine without those controllers, but the moment they auto-install my comp becomes slow and jerky again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I am on the comp normally, on the internet, using Word, etc. it's all fine. The problem only starts when I try to play a dvd. Sometimes, it will play for a little while and then I hear a 'click' sound and the comp freezes. I would have to press the restart button for it to do anything.Other times, as soon as the DVD drive starts to load a dvd, a 'click' sound is heard, and it freezes.Sometimes, the same happens as above, and the BLUE SCREEN shows up- says something about memory dump..I don't know what to do! I've tried using a different programs to load the DVD, e.g. Power DVD, Windows Media Player, AVI... don't think it makes a difference now! (When I changed from Power DVD to WMP it worked for a week or so, then it started all over again! This problem started when I still had my old DVD drive, which was 8X and now I have a 16X. At first it was all fine, but a couple of weeks later it started again.

View 11 Replies View RelatedSometimes I can have the comp on for a couple of days, be playing WoW and HL2 games on it and all sorts of things and it'll suddenly freeze without warning. No hdd light, no error message, just complete freezure (not a real word, I know). Mouse won't move, keyboard is locked out. Sometimes when i restart the comp, it just hangs without even getting to the post screen. Other times i'll restart and everything will boot fine, but a minute or so after windows boots it'll freeze again. The freezing/restarting happen while playing games, right after closing the games, and/or when i'm surfing the web, or even when the comp is idle.
