I am sure you will need a HJT log but can't remember how to get one. This computer has been starting up fine but if i walk away I comp back to :1962 no operating system found. Press f1 to repeat boot sequence and when I do that I get a weird graph and more errors. I don;t know where to start. If you advise how to get a log maybe that's where I should begin.
After Booting XP I get the blue screen with this message C0000221 {Bad image checksum} The image msvcrt.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum
Ok I feel as if all i had is lost. I was playing a game and I rebooted my computer. When i went to start it it went to the a blank blue screen before the account screen in the beginning of XP . I know i can restore to new but i will have lost so much information that it would take about 3 months to retain it all back. It says it can not find operating system
I started to reformat an old laptop and made it through disc one of my recovery discs. I'm guessing one of my cats knocked the power cord out of the computer. The battery died before disc two could finish. Now when I turn it on it says it can't find the operating system. It was working perfectly fine prior to this, just really slow, and I can see the hard drive is still there through BIOS.
I just built myself a new computer. I figured that I'd need to install the motherboard software first, then XP. When the computer starts up it says that it can't find an OS. This is because I haven't installed it yet. How do I install it or what process do I need to take?
I got back from class today and my computer was frozen. I forced a reboot. When it tries to load windows XP, I get an error message that says: Operating System Not Found Can/Should I load with the boot disks? I CAN NOT loose the info on my hard drive.
Computer has a bad virus and am planning on wiping the drive and re-installing windows. Problem is that I cannot find my key code to validate windows. Is it somewhere on my computer?
OS NameMicrosoft Windows XP Home EditionI have finally been put into the position of a must have win XP...ok...but now seem to be running slow even after defrag seems like a time thing...in that I get that slow movement on some things but not on others...think I have enough memory & a 20gb hard disk I have also run an up to date virus & spybot they all check out OK...I am really lost in the amount of information available on the xp forum...quite good but feel that there must be a smarter place to start looking
I'm having problems with my window XP opening. I have taken my hard drive out and put in an enclosure, and backed it up. Now I'm trying to determine the product key to reinstall it with the rescue disk.
I have some minor glitches in my system. I've been thinking about reformating the HD and reinstalling XP Pro. 2 questions: 1st is; if I back up my HD and then do a restore after reinstalling the os, won't I just restore the glitches I'm trying to get rid of? 2nd question; Since I've never done a reinstall and restore; will all my programs be restored just as if they have been installed (Drivers, programs, etc.); or do I have to reinstall all my programs and then do a restore so I get all the data that changed after they were installed?
I'm trying to fix my friends Hp and I usually know what im doing. But here I have no idea what to do. I tried going into the bios to change the boot order to cd to format and I can't. Can anyone tell me what to do.I changed out his hard drive with mine and it does nothing. just posts and goes to a black screen instead of trying to boot and blue screening as it usually do when you change hardrives between two computers.Changed the Ide cables no luck.
Whenever I start up my computer, right after the windows xp display, my toshiba laptop gets the bsod and restarts, repeating the process over and over again. I can't go into safe mode or anything, it'll just do the same thing again. I've written the error code and it is 0x000000ED (0x84340E30, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) the problem is that i don't have my recovery disks or anything like that when i got it, but I do have this boot cd called ultimate boot cd which i got from timatebootcd.com, this will allow me to wipe out my hard drive but im just unsure if that will fix the problem.
It all started when a friend gave me a 4 port USB Hub come clock and cup warmer!!! which I plugged into my pc. I plugged my printer into it, when I switched off the printer the system crashed to a BSOD. On reboot, as I remember, it came up with a splash screen I have never seen before (ASUS I think) then a BIOS set up page! I left the settings as they were and clicked ok, I think it was set to 700mhz. Since then it has been going to BSOD every time I switch off, or when I play Tiger Woods 2006 and go to save or move on to the next level of the game. It recently rebooted with the BIOS set up again which I changed to 933mhz hoping it was just that causing the problem!! Also when it reboots I get the voice telling me it has gone thru POST and booting from operating system. I have recorded stop errors from the last two crashes if it helps. STOP 0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0X BAE2CEED, 0XB75229DC, 0X00000000) VS DATANT.SYS ADDRESS BAE2CEED BASE AT BAE05000 DATESTAMP 44ED374A STOP 0X00000050 (0XADBCB8C2, 0X00000001, 0XBF9E059B, 0X00000000) ati2dvag.dll ADDRESS BF9E059B BASE AT BF9D4000 DATESTAMP 43fbdea6 It has just crashed again on reboot, Windows started OK then when I clicked on the Avast anti virus update notice it went off....
My system as it stands now: Athlon64 754 3000+/AsusK8VSE Del/1Gig Geil DDR/Geforce 6800GT256MB/Soundblaster Audigy/Antec NeoHE 430/Fusion HDTV card/Seagate 120GigIDE/Western Digital 250Gig SATA/LG 4120B 12x DVD-RW DLfor 6months + now I've been getting BSOD errors at random times. At first this was mainly occuring with 3D games (Oblivion, HL2 etc) and nv4_disp.sys etc and sometimes portcls.sys, but then it started happening more often and usually D1 with portcls.sys. (was using onboard sound at time) A few times while I was in the desktop (no 3D/graphics intense stuff going)
I have no idea why, but when i try to hibernate, the computer goes straight to BSOD and then resets, boots windows and its as if nothing ever happened. WTF Is going on?
I have a optical disk from my old build and 1 ide hard disk with xp installed.
I have tried booting from the ide hard disk with xp installed but when the xp loading splash screen is about to come a BSOD appears and it restarts. I can't read the BSOD as it goes to fast and i can't stop it.
Used the hard disk back with my old system and there is no problems, everything runs fine.
I have tried using 1 ram stick, both sticks, ram in different slot, every configuration i could think of. But i still have the problem. Tried the ram on a different system and it is fine. i can't get to run xp on this new system.
Ive been getting a Windows XP Pro BSOD with the following technical information: STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF495FED The computer resets before any more information is displayed. This error has been occurring for a few months, but it occurs occasionally, i usually just let the comp reboot and choose "Start Windows Normally" and it will boot fine. However, today i did that over 10 times and it kept giving me the bsod. Then i gave up, but tried again after 15 mins or so, it booted up.I only started getting the error after i replaced my comp's PSU (the old one died - i tested the old one on another comp) a few months ago. At the same time I decided to replace my graphics card (Leadtek Winfast A6600GT TDH replacing a Radeon 9200SE), and install a new sound card (SB Audigy 2 Value) and new hdd (Western Digital SATA 200G
First of all, System Restore never works. Ever. Not a single time in the 2+ years I have had this machine. I have it set to automatically make restore points, but when I try to restore to them it just tells me that it was incomplete and no changes have been made to my system. Then, recently (in the past few days), I've been getting BSOD's with errors of either win32k.sys (0x08E) or NDIS.sys (0x0DI, DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL). Microsoft Crash Analysis has twice told me it was a RAM issue, and twice told me it's a driver issue.
For example, today when I started the computer it kept shutting off and wouldnt stay on longer than 2 seconds. Then eventually it stayed on, but has crashed several more times since then. Some other things:-Recently my Dvd drive has been disapearing off and on lately (it's showing at the moment, though). -Also my windows updates have been failing lately as well. Even though the BSODs were occuring way before that, it's still odd.
I have the problem with the bsod error (0x00000007F or something). I can't get the other specific details because I can't catch the numbers fast enough before my comp restarts. I even checked off the automatic restart button too! Usually, the system crashes randomly, when I have alot of programs on, or when im playing counter strike in particu I almost forget, it started just recently when my comp suddenly froze (except the mouse). So I restarted it but my system wouldnt boot past the logo screen. I've did almost everything people suggested but I just gave up and decided to start up new. Bad idea. So now I got everything installed. I am almost sure that it has nothing to do with software because it worked with the same things before (Even though my audio driver didnt pass the XP certification thing, which is odd).
Receiving the following on boot up: PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED All searches indicate GoBack by Roxio or Norton. Neither installed - Do not want to reinstall or format drive.
I’m having problems with my laptop, which started today. Whilst browsing the internet the system locked up, leaving me with no alternative than to hold down the power button until the system turned off. When I turned the computer back on it froze shortly after logging on, before going to a blue screen saying,
‘A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
Technical information: *** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc00000005, 0xEE1A8B3A, 0xF70E97E8, 0x00000000) Beginning dump of physical memory Dumping physical memory to disk: xx’
I’ve booted Windows several times and the hex addresses all stay the same. I’m thinking it might be useful to upload the memory dumps, but don’t know how to do this. I have made several small attempts to repair the system. Firstly I started the computer in safe mode and scanned the hard drive using AVG Free, which (surprisingly) found several Trojans and other viruses. This made no difference when starting the computer, so I pressed F8 again when Windows was starting and chose ‘Last Known Good Configuration’ which again made no difference. Finally I started the computer in ‘Safe mode with Command Prompt’ and ran ‘chkdsk’ which found no errors...........
I shut off the computer and turning it back on couldn't boot up windows. It gave the windows wasn't shut down properly and I tried the normal restart option and it would just give a black screen with a blinking _ and then nothing happens. Tried loading in safe mode but it gets to mup.sys then "Press Esc to cancel SPTD.sys" flashes below and whether I press Esc or let it be, nothing happens after that.
I tried popping in the windows xp disc that came with the laptop, boot from disc, it starts up but then after loading everything, it then says "Windows is starting up" the disc stops spinning then nothing happens. I tried popping in a windows vista disc and it says "Windows is loading files" with a progress bar, when it fills up, I get stuck with a blank black screen the disc stops spinning and then nothing happens.
Some time ago I booted up my computer,to find that my XP switched to Windows classic style,I didn't take it seriously so I went to properties to change when I get an error message saying there is a problem with run32.dll,not only that, but the visual styles can't load I assume, becuase of run32.dll,so now I'm stuck with the piece of s*** style.
The situation: A reasonably new PC, clean and working properly. Several new programs are installed, including Firefox, Winamp, desktop publishing, photo manager, and security software (not the antivirus, standalone scanners.) Everything appears to be fine.I log on to Windows Live OneCare to use their "Safety Scanner" to, as they say, check for PC health issues and optimize performance. Mind you, the site recommends users log on once a month for the full service scan. As you know, the scan includes the removal of what it refers to as invalid registry entries. "Oh boy," right? The registry. Except you'd like to believe the official Microsoft site won't screw up your programs.
I tried to do a System Recovery today on my Sony laptop. Got 41% completed and had a fatal error. Options given were Ignore, Retry or Abort. Attempted a Retry. Got a fatal error message and everything locked up. I ended up shutting down and when I turned the computer on again it said no operating system found. Where did I screw up?
This is a six year old Sony, XP, AMD 1.0Ghz. Everything was working at the time I tried the System Recovery EXCEPT I was constantly getting low space messages for drive C. I have no files on this drive and very little software. It is a 20G hard drive partioned into two 10G partitions.
Should I ever use one of the utility programs to wipe my hard drive completely, how do I reinstall Windows XP since the CD driver has been erased? How can you reinstall an operating system that is on CD when you have no driver for the CD player? The reason I am asking these questions is that I might want to give my computer to friend and I want my stuff off of the hard drive and my friend to be able to use the computer.
my computer attack viruses last weeks.so i got system alert message. since i deleted that viruses. But system alert message didn't go.Please tell any for how delete or cancel that system alert message.
I just corrected my problem by reinstalling the operating system from a CD for windows XP... The problem now is there is NO audio device, I cannot download some of programs from the CD's--it can't find the installation program.I have no sound and cannot donwload some of the programs that came with this computer.
