System Having No Audio After Fresh Install Of Operating System?
Aug 5, 2009
I just corrected my problem by reinstalling the operating system from a CD for windows XP... The problem now is there is NO audio device, I cannot download some of programs from the CD's--it can't find the installation program.I have no sound and cannot donwload some of the programs that came with this computer.
i bought new XP Home edition Cd and i installed it and in the halfway through it failed to identified some few files like chkr.dll , rvse.dll, bckg.dll i found tht all those files are related to Games (Heart, pinball, freecell )so i thought to reinstall the Window Xp but when i bought the cd..the retailer told that i can only use the license key for 3 times since its genuine and another thing is that i found in websites that "OEM license only allows the copy to be activated and used on the one, single, specific set of hardware it was sold for. It can be reinstalled and reactivated as often as you like
Does anyone know if there is a way to recover files after a fresh install of the operating system? I suffered a bad virus that disrupted my registry to the point where the computer was unusable. The only solution was a fresh re-install of XP.
I bought a new desktop, 3 yrs ago, with Windows XP Pro installed from the factory, and of course it was an OEM version, as usual. The com has a MSI Intel 848P Neo Mother board which I have changed 2 times before on warranty. Now I had to change it again, due to one PCI slot was dead. So far everything was ok.But, to activate the OS was now a "plenty big" problem.
Somehow the technician managed to do it at his own place. Suddenly, I was going to download a plug-in program to my Microsoft Publisher 2002, of course validation was required. No problem - I had done that several times during the last 3 yeras and everything has been ok. But not this time. Validation failed, Microsoft announced. "The Office XP Pro has to be activated, start any Office program, go to Help activate product" - No problem, easy job.
I have been trying to clen up an old computer to give away. It is a 2002-vintage desktop with 512MB ram. I tried several times to reformat and reinstall xp, but I have only succeeded in removing the operating system and reformating both the hard drives. I have the OEM xp disk that came with it but I have tried 15 times to install xp and I can't. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

What would be the procedure for me to change from Windows XP to Windows 2000? Does XP have to be uninstalled or can I install 2000 without that requirement? Someone told me that I could just install 2000 and, that, in effect, would override XP. But, I don't want to goof something up so I thought I had better check with the experts here first.

Well, I just recently installed XP clean on a friends computer, and While doing so I had no speakers connected to the computer. Then after, I plugged them in and get no sound. In the device manager under the legacy audio cards and codecs, it says "This device is working properly", but through the control panel under sounds and audio devices, it says there are no audio devices detected.
On reinstalling my Windows XP x86 and using Windows Update to get everything back uptodate to the present day. I am having serious problems getting my sound drivers to install. I have tried everything under the sun, also tried a few things which i found while roaming the internet (Mainly google searches for the problem).
I recently had my XPS M1710(Windows XP Pro) swapped out for a M1730(VHP) and would like some assistance in getting rid of Vista and installing XP Pro onto the new system.
I need to install Windows XP on a laptop (Dell Latitude CPx H500GT) but I don't have the CD modular drive for it.How do I install XP with no built-in CD-ROM drive? The only other options I have is a ethernet PC card, one USB port and I do have a USB enclosure (for use with 3.5 hard drives or 5.25 cd/dvd drives)
My "Multimedia audio controller" is popping up as new hardware found. It's sitting in device manager with yellow I have an onboard sound card. When i try to install the drivers from my motherboard CD, it asks for my windows CD. Then just says it cannot find the files. When i try to point it to the drivers that i downloaded it does the same.No matter what it asks for the windows CD, then says it cannot find the file "Ksuser.dll" which is defenatly there inside a .cab file.
I recently did a fresh install of Windows XP on on my laptop and since then I haven't been able to get sound working. Almost all drivers have been installed and Device manager tells me they are working just fine. My audio one is a Sigmatel driver, if that matters much ... but there's 5 others listed under "sound, video, and game controllers."Almost all drivers, as I said, the ones below I didn't install for various reasons:
* Sony Visual Communication Camera Driver -- It is actually installed, just disabled because it gives shutdown issues.
my housemates computer has me completely stumped, we have formatted his HDD several times and re-installed XP on it several times, yet every second time the computer will freeze just after its started up, not freeze really but will lose the mouse and keyboard

I Have a dell inspiron 8200 and i reinstalled windows from another dell computers windows disk. When its starts up its goes to the windows start when it starts to go to the log in part. The video goes all crazy and i can't see anything when i start it in safe mode its fine.
I have a dell latitude CPI laptop. Has windows 98. I would like to have a new operating system XP (like what I have on my PC at home)I tried to do a clean install on the latptop with format c: s/ (to save the system files) and to wipe the harddrive clean. I then installed MS XP Home edition. When it boots up, it shows I have the two operating systems on the harddrive. Maybe that isn't a problem, but I would think it would take up harddrive space.
For some reason windows xp is not loading and it says windows did not start succesfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. When i try to start it on safe mode it says a problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to the computer.
I've tried to install Windows Xp Pro on my raid 0 array (2 x 320Gb Seagate drives), but I can't get Xp to recognize it. The raid option is enabled in the bios and when the setup ask for it, I load the SATA/RAID drivers from Gygabyte but it only allow me to see the other 2 non-raid sata drives. I've setup the array with the Intel tool in my bios (Gygabyte 965P-DQ6, F3 bios) and it suposed to be up and running. In fact, I can see it when I boot into the Windows Xp installed on my other drive.
I have a laptop that is about 3.5 years old - out of warranty of course. I messed something up, badly. I would like to re-install Windows XP and start fresh however. I can't find the CD that supposedly came with the system. So i have Windows XP Home on the computer already, and it works for the most part. But i need to start fresh. But without the CD, i'm stuck. (no hidden partitions, no restore on the harddrive). It's a Dell 700m. I can run to Staples and buy a WinXP Upgrade CD for $99. Will this work on my system? I don't want to spend any more time trying to fix my system - i've tried just about everythng and quite frankly, my time is worth more than the cost of the program. So what do you think? Will a store bought WinXP Home UPGRADE disc do the trick?
Accidentally removed my Direct X from my machine Win XP SP2 32bit. Now when i do dxdiag, in the system tab it shows directX version: not found. Is there anyway to restore this directX without having to re-install windowx again?
