My computer has been taking like 5 times to start up. sometimes randomly shuts down and runs really bad. i got online chat with sony. they first said to do bios reset.f2 didnt do anything so they said back up and do system recovery.

When the computer first turns on a blank screen appears with text saying "we're sorry for the inconvienice, etc..." then has a 30 second timer for which option i would like to choose.These are my options below (which none work).
It doesnt work on Safe Mode, Safe Mode (Networking), Safe Mode (Command Prompt) or even the "last known to work configurations". Im totally lost on what i can do from here. I need assistence people!!
I had put my pc off with the on/off button, because I was in a hurry. Later when I tried to open it, it shows the BIOS screen and than nothing happens it just turns black and thats it. And it goes off when I put my finger slowly on the on/off button.

The hard drive has crashed. I have read on some websites that I can make a bootable usb drive. However, I have not been succesful in making a bootable USB thumb drive when the laptop's BIOS doesnt support a USB device to be bootable.The only thing I do have is my desktop computer (which is working fine) and a USB external case for the laptop internal hard drive.

The problem is everytime I unplug my pc from the wall socket it resets the BIOS and when I plug it back in I first need to setup the BIOS. Just bought this EVGA motherboard and swapped it in place of an Asrock motherboard and got everything running, overclocked and stable.Before I got Windows XP running (previous installation from the asrock mobo), I encountered an issue and i isolated it down to one of the 200gb 7200.7 SATA HD's.IF this HD is plugged in when the PC boots, then the Windows XP Boot screen appears and hangs. NOTE: it DOES NOT freeze - the bar still moves, but there is no HD activity and the pc stays like this for hours on end. Note again - this is not a hang. the activity bar still moves from left to right, and it keeps doing this indefinitely it seems (with no HD activity from any drives). IF this HD is not plugged in, the PC boots in straight away. All drivers are tip top (nforce drivers, SATA drivers). However if I hot-plug this drive from within Windows, it works fine!. The PC just doesn't boot with the HD plugged in.

I have read the various deletion instructions for this specific virus, but all seem to require the recovery console on the XP CD. View 7 Replies View Relatedonce the on button was pushed, it came up with the BIOS screen asking for the password.I removed the CMOS battery, which allowed me to change the Password so I can get onto BIOS now. However, when I boot now it just comes up with the BIOS screen.I set HD to boot first, aswell as setting the clock and date. I then ask it to save and quit, after which it shut's down, and reboots, only, BIOS keeps coming up. And I need to get this sorted asap

I was away from home for about a week and left the machine plugged into the mains but powered down. When I returned home to boot up, it kept doing things like constantly hanging on parts of the bios POST screen, eventually booting up after thirty or so complete restarts. It finally booted into windows but after the last shutting down, it will now not boot up at all. I have replaced the bios battery and reset the bios several times.

The only way I can get itno my xp pro system, is to use "F8" during the bios check, the select my hd from there, then it seems only half of my programs work, and it also seems to be randomly changing the programs that do not work, when I do this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot a bit of a problem with my housemates pc.A friend gave him some extra RAM, i checked it out and it was crucial 512mb pc2100 CL2.5, and although it didn't match his exsisting RAM it seemed to me that his mobo would only run the FSB at 200mhz anyway so i went ahead and fitted it.It worked fine I then noticed his system temp was running a little high (60-65 degrees), so i took his heatsink off and cleaned the dust and refitted it with some new thermal compound.I added too much and the temp went up. To nearly 90 degrees.I shut it dwon as i didn't want the cpu to pop, cleaned it off, reapplied less compound and figured this would work fine.Now we have the problem. Most of the time: Power on and nothing happens. No bios, no beeps. Occasionally: Power on, i jump into the bios, the temp looks fine (30-40 degrees) and then it freezes right there in the bios after about 30 seconds to a minute.This sounds like a heat issue, but the last temp reading before freeze is 33 degrees.?I've double and triple checked that the heatsink is on properly and thats fine. I followed the official guide on how much compound to use (a blob the size of an uncooked short grain of rice).

My computer started slowing dow about a month ago. It got to where it took forever to load when I turned the computer on and even opening software took forever. Same with turning it off. It also hangs up on me. I can't even press Ctrl + Alt+ Delete to end a program when its not responding. I have to strictly turn the computer off just to get somewhere. I uninstalled and reinstalled Norton. I have the entire Norton system and catches nothing. It says all systems are working properly.
I was asked earlier if I had ever put a music CD in the computer that was by SONY, and I can say that probably close to 20 over the 4 years that I have had it. I was told that SONY puts this "thing" on the CDs that transfer to your computer before you even hear the music so that you are penalized if you try to duplicate them.

It won't boot from the CD - it just tells me that the operating system is not found. I had that much figured out. I'm no computer whiz, but it looks to me like the drive IS recognized in the BIOS. View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to reload XP on a sony Vaio machine. First off, when it comes up with 'press any key to boot to CD' nothing works. I have done searches on this and have tried both PS2 and usb keyboards. I have also tried to access bios but nothing loads it.I have tried esc, tab, del, f1-f12 and no matter what, windows continues to load. I know the keyboard works because once windows loads, I can type. So this is an issue with the usb keyboard and bios I assume but I cannot get to bios to enable the usb support.

It continually blue screened during the very beginning of the install process. So, I decided to remove vista. I could not get vista to uninstall so I finally ran an older bootable windows like 98 or me which got me to dos. In dos I deleted and reset partitions. I did not format as format was not on the disk I used. Now, with a fresh hard drive I figured that xp would install but it won't. I do that and then the window xp logo appears and then it reboots and starts all over again. Right after the window xp logo appears something runs across the screen and disappears to fast to see what it is.I have norton internet and antivirus and the sp2 pack of windows xp installed. However, I have not installed anything recently. Just prior to the problem my comcast high speed internet went down and when it came on that is when I had the problem. I can boot from the CD-rom and have done a check with a cdrom norton and I have no viruses, but it is not the latest viruses on the disk and I dont know how to down load them onto the cdrom from norton site.
