Every time I open a window in windows, it opens up small, and I have to click on the square box to enlarge it. is there anyway I can get them to open up full screen at the first click.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe ability to drag any small window with all the contents. Not just the outline of the window. I have tried again and again to get it to stay on and checked, all to no avail. I don't understand why. At the desk top I right click anywhere to get to very small window with (properties) at the very bottom. I then click on Properties and get (Appearance). Next I click on appearance tab to get to the window that has the (Effects) button. Next, I click on the effects tab and look to see if the little bitty square next to (Show Window Contents While Dragging) is checked. And it is never checked. So I check it to get the effect of dragging the contents with the window as I move it around the screen.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen a subsidary window pops up in various programs they are too small, and i can't view the entire box.On the left side and in the bottom of the window there are several boxes that i can't view the entire content of. sometimes, depending on the program, i'm able to "fix" the problem by resizing the box, but other times the boxes are not resizeable. It's getting to be really frustrating.

View 5 Replies View RelatedShutting down a game many of my desktop icons e.g. recycle bin, network environment and all the shortcut folder icons created by myself suddenly turned to square (undefined) default icons that are familiar to us from Windows 95. When I click 'My Computer' I discover that also the icon of drive C and the floppydisk 3,5 drive icon have changed to default icons. Additionally, all the standart yellow foldericons now show default icons.
Before I have occasionaly used register cleaning programmes such as the free CCleaner and the Uniblues shareware Registry Booster with no problems. I have always taken a complete backup of the Register in case something goes wrong. Also, I have understood that no change in the register takes effect unless you restart the computer. Am I wrong here?
After a quick check I notice that all the installed software function correctly. All written documents are there and they open correctly in their respective programmes. I've tried to change the icons by right clicking "properties/customise/change icon" but it doesn't work. The computer does not allow you to change the icons that vanished. When you try to change the icon, you are by default navigated to system 32 folder with shell32.dll file. I presume this is the main icon library of xp. All the pictures are present there but those that are "broken" approx. 12 of them showed at the beginning of the list cannot be used anymore, for instance the standard yellow folder icon among them. The rest of the icons (say 100 or more of them) are available..............
I have Windows XP Home and SP2 installed. Also I have AdAware, Spybot, Search and Destroy, MacAfee virsusscan and MS AntySpyware. Yesterday and today, I noticed that several icons on my desktop changed to a generic white square. Even as I'm writing this message, two more changed. What's going on? How to stop icons from changing?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have recently loaded Alcohol 120% version 1.9.2 (build 1705) on my computer and selected creation of three virtual drives. While everything is working normal the virtual drive icons assigned to the virtual drives appear in the explorer view as a square with dots. Additionally now when I install a Kingston USB drive the system assigns a similar icon to it. I am running Win XP Pro with SP 2 and I have tried reloading the software but it didnt help. I also looked for all settings in the software but there are no settings for icons in the explorer view. The system is also configured with a DVD and a CDRW but their icons in the explorer view are ok

I use Office 2000. I think the latest big patch windows sent out. This was the one dealing with the Metafile Vulnerablity. Whenever, i click on a microsoft word document I get Windows Fax and Image viewer. The only way i can get it to open in word is to use this route. Right click the file>click on open with<choose Microsoft Word. This is just really annoying and i believe its related to the patch

The icon appears on my task bar, as if it was running, but I know it is not. I've of late had this same problem with other programs, so I know it's not just Windows Messenger. View 3 Replies View RelatedI decided to get rid of my "Symantec Antivirus" program, but I couldn't find a way to uninstall it, so I deleted the program folder (with included files) and the related shortcuts and left it up to my registry cleaners to get the rest. However, whenever I right-click on an icon or the desktop, it gives me a couple of Systemac Antivirus installation windows that I have to cancel out of before I get my right-click menu. My registry cleaners, anti-spyware, and anti-virus programs can't find anything. Searching for "Symantec" provides no results. How do I fix this?

Everything went well as expected except for one thing.When I turn on my computer, the acer logo appears then a page appears again which asks me to choose whether to start windows xp or repair it using USB. I have to always click the start windows xp before the windows logo appears and everyhting in windows is alright. I dont know how to fix this so that after the acer logo appears, windows logo comes next then desktop.

Right clicking on a folder works OK.

I have a computer that quits explorer every time I try to click on the file menu, or right click on explorer and go to the new link. It also does this when i try to delete a folder in explorer or through my computer.

When I double-click the icon, the icon gets highlighted, but the program or other folder does not open. I checked in the folder options, and it is set up so that when you double-click an icon, it opens the program. But the weird thing about it is that if I try to double-click or right-click an icon on my desktop.. it works like it should. So this really just doesn't make sense.
