Sep 22, 2006When I click this option in my Start menu on my Dell Dimension 2400 with Windows XP Service Pack 2 I get a Add or Remove Programs window that gives me three choices: Microsoft Windows, Non-Microsoft and Custom. I cannot get the Microsoft Windows option to set because it stays set in the Custom option. When I click on the Microsoft Windows option and then click OK it will automatically go back to the Custom option.I have tried clicking and unclicking the Microsoft Windows options in the Custom tab but it does no good.

I'm having some jitter in the capture of video through VIVO that I'm attributing to too many services running at once and using up so much resource. I can see it well enough in the final DVD production being played on a home DVD player that it is annoying. I can easily suspend the usual programs like anti-virus and such but there are a boatload of other services that run. Jan 20, 2007When I try to open a folder of a program it doesn't work. I click the folder and the mouse changes to the mouse and hourglass picture but nothing happens after that. Sometimes I get that error sound but no message pops up. Then the title on the title bar of my applications goes blank and I no longer can click the menu that says file, edit, view,It highlights it but it won't let me click it. I also cannot right click anymore and when I try to reset my computer, it highlights it but I can't click that either.I also can't open the task manager when it happens nor can I type in my address bar or open a new tab for my browser.. I tried running a virus scan but it catch anything so I have no idea what I can do. I've tried system restore but that didn't fix it.

It does not let me select the box "always use this program to open files like this" so i cannot select explorer and save that setting. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected.I have XP home edition with a 3 partitioned hard drive. C:for Operating system, E:for software install and F: for data. The only software installed on C: partition is Kaspersky Anti-virus.I have booted up in safe mode to delete files but i do not want to do this all the time. Mar 16, 2007i got windows xp home and im unable to enter my desktop or login, when i start up i get to the windows xp home logo and the process bar, but after that everything turns black and stays that way forever.i can't enter safe mode, the computer simply dont let me, i tap the safe mode options key, f12 for me, not f8, but the screen never shows up, it's like it doesnt register the key is there, i can tap f8 to get the booting options and f1 for bios options, but not the safe mode.
this happened after i found a virus in winlogon.exe, the AV deleted it and that is when things got messed up, although i have done this before actually, but then i just repair installed windows and everything went back to normal, but when i try this now, it doesnt work, it installs windows all over again, the blue screen and the yellow progress bar, but when it's suppose to reboot and then continue the installation
