Not sure if this is really considered a tweak or useful but I love it and everyone i show it to does also. Works on 98se to XP.Create a new folder of any name in my Documents, now put any shortcut to a program you would like. Drag the folder drom the DOCument folder onto your task bar where your clock is. Now you have a customized quick folder for accessing programs on the fly without the clutter of desktop icons

View 6 Replies View Relatedthat use AIM and she has been begging me to install it for her so she can talk to them. After installing AIM the next day I noticed the following. At startup a program is launched called "Desktop Search" which puts a small search window just above my system tray. This program does not work and will not respond when trying to close the program from the Task Manager. The program is not listed in "ADD/REMOVE Software" in the control panel. I have run both ADAWARE-SE and SPYBOT S&D, and have not had any results. The only reference to this program that I can find is in the registry under;HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun

I need advice on which of the most current Windows desktop search products to use with an aging Thinkpad R40 (Centrino 1.4GHz / 512mb shared)? When I left click some icons, the "search" window opens instead of the program I wish to open.When I right click these same icons, the menu box opens that gives me choices ( open, explore, send to, copy etc) as it should However, the top selection in the drop down box (highlighted) is "search" instead of "open".As a routine now, I must right click and icon, choose "open" from the drop down box, and go about my business. How did "search" get into the box to begin with, why are only some of the icons infected, how do I get rid of it.I just installed my new "anti everything" renewal for 2005 (Norton) and it saw nothing, (The Norton icon also has this problem) I've tried freeby spyware remover etc.. nothing. I deleted the infected icons, went back into explorer and created new shortcuts.

In the tray on the lower right of screen I can see a magnifying glass. If I click on it I get Windows Desktop Search Index Status. Once the items left to scan reaches 0, my computer runs fine. Until then it is extremely slow and unusable. This just started happening about a month ago.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am getting the (program) "has encountered a problem and needs to close error report with a number of programs on my PC."It started with Outlook (2003) then Sony Media Manager and now Mailwasher Pro. I can use Outlook to send and receive messages OK and the error only appears as Outlook is closing down. My Mailwasher Pro update wont run at all and produces the error report when I try to run it. In the last couple of weeks I have tried to download a number of programs, some install and run OK and some produce the above error report when I try to run them.

The problem is that only some programs are working on the user accounts but all the programs work under the administer account. So my question is how can I get to work under the user accounts. When I went over to help him with a Wi-Fi connectivity problem, I found that when typing a URL into the IE7 Address Bar, when I hit enter, I would see a Windows Box pop up telling me that it couldn’t find the URL. When I type a URL into my IE7, the “http://www.” is automatically added. I never have to use the “CNTRL/ENTER” trick that actually does work on his PC for each URL that’s typed.

i have it on a 5g drive, and it has bloated itself beyond proper functioning. Is 10g enough or should i go to 50g? I do not install program files on this drive. or my documents. or my images. or anything else that i can possibly put somewhere else.
I don't know what happened, all the sudden while my daughter was in the middle of being on the internet website called evergirl.com (kids games & talk like barbie.com) the computer hung up and got real sluggish. After she was able to close completely out of it I restarted the computer. It came on slowly and gave an error message, as I went to write it down, it blanked off (it said something about unable to open *some* local files and something about a *damaged* registry key. Then it opened to a desktop from like when we first got the computer, most my files are their but the shortcuts are gone off the desktop and mozilla asked if I wanted to import all my data from OE.
