I have created a file for eg " abc.xyz". How do I schedule to run this file at specific times using dos prompt/command prompt?
I want to run this file --- c:abc.xyz at specific times and daily ..
Can anybody show what should be typed specifically in the cmd prompt??
Is there some place that I can search to see if windows files/commands are legitimate? I have Zone Alarm and it has programs on it trying to access the Internet that I do not recognize. Another one was: Microsoft Out of Bounds. I have Windows XP Home Edition with all updates.I have ZoneAlarm free and McAffee AntiVirus.Nothing has been detected.

The system hangs forever at "Saving Your Settings" when I try to shutdown or reboot, It hangs when I try to run Windows Update, and if I try to schedule a chkdsk run on C: it claims to have scheduled it, but when I reboot, nothing happens (other than booting, that is). It almost acts like the registry has become read-only.Is there some way I can boot that will allow me to manually run chkdsk on C:? Or am I better off just assuming the disk is on its way to the junkpile, do one last backup while I can, and reinstall windows from scratch? (Its been a few years since the last.

The Partner who installed it wrote a batch file, which works fine, but he put it in the Scheduler and it never runs. I did the obvious, checked for correct user name and password, etc. The process kicks off, says it is working, but never terminates and does not actually run the batch file. I tried calling the batch file with cmd.exe, but that doesn't work either.

I was wondering if I could schedule a task to disable the internet or block traffic using my norton.When I go to schedule a task it only allows me to open a program. To schedule something like what i'm talking about, I would probably have to create a program of some kind that combined all the actions into one thing. Maybe using notepad or whatever.I don't know anything about programing, so can I get some help? Any advice? Other alternatives? Am I being to careful?

Initially, I'd hoped for something akin to the "Run at user logon" or "Run at startup" optionsavailable in the schedule tab of a scheduled task, but there is no setting for "Run at resume from standby/hibernation"
Restore a VPN connection after the computer's network capabilities are restored on resuming from hibernation. This is important because I have to occasionally wake thesystem from offsite using its Wake-On-LAN NIC. I've tried setting up a scheduled task to run at start-up and user logon which uses RASDIAL to dial the appropriate VPN connection, but this connection depends on the logged-in user's credentials, so it won't work at start-up. When set to have it run at user logon, it doesn't run when the computer comes out of hibernation.
Running a VB program from Sheduled Tasks, the VB program is supposed to bring up a form with information. The program works fine when started the "normal" way but when i start it from Sheduled Tasks it does start but it does not bring up the form. You can see the program running among the processes but thats all.

Adaware pops right up at the appointed time, but requires a "run scan" click from me to proceed any further. I've configured AdAware for automated scans and had hoped the scheduler, combined with this setting would kick off a truly automatic scan while I sleep soundly.

Problem 2: The view preference "thumbnails" in my picture folder is never saved! Each time I open the folder I have to set it on again! The problem is that my pict folder is not in the System disk.

Usually I can run a spyware scan on top of playing iTunes, working on a Word document and much more with no problems, but today I noticed that suddenly a scan by AVG alone is using nearly 70-80 percent of my processing power . Also Windows has been taking darn near forever to load. More than 2 minutes. I know this can't be normal. I've had this problem before but received almost no replies so please someone help. This is really ruining my computing experience. By the way I have an AMD Athlon X2 4200+. Any guesses as to what the problem might be?

When I click on My Documents and it opens, there is a bar titled "Music Tasks" - with a music note on the left of it that appears in My Documents folder above the "File and Folder Tasks" Bar (all in the upper left corner of My Documents Folder. They also show the watermark for images for the background image (when I have this feature on). How can I fix this? There is no Customize tab under Properties for these folders.
