Finding Way To Schedule Automated Task To Save Opened Word Files?
Oct 4, 2010
Is there a way to schedule an automated task the will save any open Word or Excel (Office 2003) files, and then close those programmes at a set time? I would like to be able to set this up on a PC with XP Pro as part of scheduling computer shut-down but not losing any data if an individual is still working at that time.
OS is Win 2K. I have a folder containing about 150 files Using Explorer, I can open the folder and view a list of the files. Is there any way to save that list as a text document?
I just installed my home Dell Dimension 4700 -- and can't seem to find any MS Office or "Word" options on my "All Programs" drop-down. The system is supposed to have Windows XP resident, but I'm not finding any of it. Also, I want to be able to convert old Word Perfect files to Word -- and vice versa, but have thus far been unsuccesaful in figuring out how to do it.
I have Windows XP Pro SP2 as my OS. When I try to save a document directly from Word onto my DVD I get the message that is read-only. The OS does see the DVD drive because Roxio can burn to the drive. I prefer saving directly to the the drive from Word. What could be the problem?
I want to keep my computer running through the night, but I don't want to risk getting infected. I was wondering if I could schedule a task to disable the internet or block traffic using my norton. When I go to schedule a task it only allows me to open a program. To schedule something like what i'm talking about, I would probably have to create a program of some kind that combined all the actions into one thing. Maybe using notepad or whatever.I don't know anything about programing, so can I get some help? Any advice? Other alternatives? Am I being to careful?
I had this computer for a year or so and about month ago,the little boxes on the blue taskbar at the bottom of the screen stopped showing up I can still open the windows with the ctrl alt delete command to open the task manager, but theres no way to switch between two open windows without that.
None of the word processors on my computer, save notepad, work at all. When I double click the application, it shows the hourglass for a split second, and it disappears again, as if I'd never clicked anything. Actually, MS word worked. Except it always had some random error and just exited itself. So as far as I'm concerned, I can't use any of my word processors.I ran a CHKDSK scan, it took several hours to complete, but I did it, and the problem persisted. So I decided to get a HJT log. I downloaded HJT.
Windows XP, SP2, I.E, and questions:I would like to save several Word written letters to a CD and record them at different times, just like I would do on a floppy disk. When I tried this,I was told the disk was full and could not be written to. I use either WindowsXP, Record Now or MusicMatch to record information. How do I set my computer to record items at different times? If I am in the wrong group, please direct me to the correct one.
my computer is unable to save any files at all. It cannot save files off the internet or save any files in a Save As.. format? Ive searched the internet for the last 2 weeks looking for some infomation on the problem but i cannot find anything?
I run a any virus program on my computer and they tell me there are certain files that cannot be opened, I'm running windows xp profesional some of the files that it can't open

A friend told me to scan my registry for Wineries and lo and behold I found something: My ComputerHkey_Current_UserSoftwareMicrosoftSearch AssistantACMru5603 In this... there is a file named: 002 and 003 one is called Cache one is called Wineries. Their types are REG_SZ
I recently started using DVD Decrypter to rip some of my DVD's and then convert them to play on my Sony Playstation Portable (using PSP video 9) And it's working great. Now that I know how to do this, (rip tracks off of DVD'S) I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what the BEST program is, or what people use, to use those .vob files and turn them into .AVI files or .MPEG files, so that I can carry them with me on my laptop.
I'm running the F@H software 24/7 (that's something like the SETI@Home), and it uses all of my idle CPU time, which means that my WinXP Pro with SP2 can't create restore point automatically since it doesn't see any time that my PC is idle. But it would be no problem at all since the F@H's process has the lowest priority so the kernel could easily take over it. So, is there a way to tweak the registry in such a manner that the System Restore ignores my CPU load and creates a Restore point all by itself? I know where to define my Restore points' lifespan and the intervals they're created between,
I just upgraded my very tired old Compaq Presario 7598 from 98SE to XP home edition, somehow I lost Word 2000. Prior to the upgrade I saved all my important docs to an external Buslink hard drive. Now when I try to view my stuff it says I need Word 2000. When I put the disk in it asks for the numbers off the jewel case, I don't have these as it came as bundled software when I originally bought the computer. Compaq is being of no help!! Someone out there help me with the numbers or tell me what to do!! I need access to my stuff!--Tks--Steve tradaba@yahoo.com stevenh@skylands.net
I have an XP and I deleted a file (.doc) and I wish to recover it; from what I understand when a file is deleted it's not "wiped" off the HD, just the path to it is gone. How hard is it to recover the file?
Anyone know if software exists which is on a cd-rom or dvd-rom that contains a libary of drivers? like a driver pack? for now i am using a usb pen and searching the net for drivers once windows is installed. Does anyone know please if there are discs which do this automatically from a library of drivers? to save searching the net and looking for individual drivers.
I had Windows XP Pro SP2 installed, and then i did the huuuge mistake to install Vista Ultimate. Got annoyed and reinstalled XP Pro SP3.I backed up my files before goin back to XP on an external HD. And when I copied back the files to the pc I saw, to my horror, that everything looked ok. But when I try to open text documents, it's just garbled text. Looks like this.Every single document looks like that, rtf files, txt files, word documents and so on. And I've tried to open them and converting to different codings in word and so on (UTF, ANSII and what not). Nothing works. And then I saw, when I was gonna import my bookmarks in Firefox that I saved before I went back to XP from Vista, that those html files also are full of garbled text
I looked around on google, and can't find anything about it I would greatly appreciate some help. Every single text document, which is quite a few, is messed up. And some of them, I didnt even open in Vista.. So don't know if it's because of Vista or if its something else.
After an automated Windows update, I found that I could no longer use the Remote Desktop Connection program that is built into my Windows XP Home SP2. I can go to Programs Accessories/Remote Desktop Conn/ and click on it, but nothing happens. I can also go to MyComputer/Windows/System32/mstsc.exe and click on that, and again, nothing happens. No dialog box appears. It worked fine just yesterday, but seems to be dead today. And I couldn't find a download on the MS windows site.
I have ms bundled on windows XP my hp pavilion 1335w. I have saved a lot of word processing documents for my new (3 mos.) job. Now when I try to re-open them for revisal, or even just to look at them, I get a msg in a small window that says "Works task launcher cannot open the file you selected. It may have been either moved or deleted." If I can't get to some of these, I will lose my job! And I don't even know where to go for help, this is the first place i've tried. Can someone either sove the problem, or tell me when I can go for the answer?
When I try to open Microsoft Office Word 2003 a window pops up that says window installer then it says installing microsoft office word feature. It stops half way and another window pops up that says Installation error file not found. A required installation file SKU112.CAB could not be found. Original installation source required. If you installed Microsoft Office Standard edition 2003 from cd please insert your cd.
If you installed Microsoft office standard edition 2003 over your computer network please browse to the installation source on your computer. Also a window popped up that says Microsoft word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install application. I don't have the cd its lost. This just started doing this about a month ago. I can't open any files through microsoft office word or power point.
No problem but was wondering if there is a program that can tell you what a .dll file is associated with. Seem to remember hearing about one but can not recall what it was.I have a .dll that XoftSpySE found but I am not sure if I need it or not.
When I click on a Word document (on my Desktop, for example), it seems to take a long time for the document to open. Yet if I have Word open and click on the document it opens instantaneously. Similarly, when I right click on a document, photo, spreadsheet file, it takes what seems a long time for the menu (Open, Run as, Send to, Delete, etc..) to open.
computer has become infected with a virus. What i was going to do was reinstall XP and just start over. My mom had some word documents that she wanted to keep backed up. My question was if it would be safe to put these word files on a flash drive, or even connect my flash drive, and then put those files on the new installation. i also had nod 32 installed. should i scan the files with that before? and should i boot it in safe mode before doing the transfer?
when I try to open a Lotus WordPro file (*lwp) inside a folder it can take 30 seconds or more to open. Sometimes I have to click on the file a second time at which time I get a(not responding) message on the folder bar.If I open the same file by starting WordPro and selecting the same file from among recently opened files it opens almost instantly. Other types of files don't seem to be affected the system crashes when I right click on a folder to try and display properties.
When I right click to "Save Image as" on a graphic file, the "Save As" window pops up and it lets me go through all the motions of selecting a location and name for the file, but then it does not actually save it when I click the "Save" button. The file does NOT get saved. And the progress and completion window does not come up to confirm the save. This has happened once before about a year ago, and I somehow fixed it by accident. Now it has happened again, and for the life of me.
