I recently started using DVD Decrypter to rip some of my DVD's and then convert them to play on my Sony Playstation Portable (using PSP video 9) And it's working great. Now that I know how to do this, (rip tracks off of DVD'S) I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what the BEST program is, or what people use, to use those .vob files and turn them into .AVI files or .MPEG files, so that I can carry them with me on my laptop.
I just recently deleted a folder that i wasn't supposed to delete inside my EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE. Inside that folder were 2 other very important sub folders. It was over 8 gigs so when i deleted it, i fortunately commited the same mistake of pressing the "yes" button again when it asked the files to bypass the recycling bin being permanently deleted from the computer. In fact it happened so fast it seemed like it vaporized. It was hard to believe that over 8 gigs of files were eliminated that fast, whereas usually any big file i would delete would normally take a while for the computer to process. I seriously doubt the worst here, and i have tried about 4 data recovery programs that were only able to detect the very main folder that was deleted but not the more important 2 subfolders inside of it containing the big chunk of the data. I've even been able to detect files that were deleted months ago through these programs, but not the important 8 gigabyte chunk i just deleted an hour ago. By the way i tried scanning both the C rive(main) and the external hard drive and browsing through the :/recycle folders, but to no avail
My AdAware tea-timer located an instance of FastSearch. I had AdAware quarantine and remove this. I see no instance of it after running AdAware again, but when trying to run Spybot S&D and Panda Scan my computer locked up on both programs. I've ran HJT and see no reference to FastSearch, but do see a few WinLogOn entries that look suspicous to me, as well as a Wild Tangent entry I know will need to be removed. I'd just like to have some more experienced eyes take a look at my HJT log.I'm running XP Home edition on a HP Pavillion a320n with 512 RAM (yes, time to add some new memory as well).
The registry on one of my computers is corrupt and if I try to copy the files from the WindowsRepair folder using the windows system repair tool, I'm told the files cannot be found. One possible solution I thought of is using the registry files from my other computer running Windows XP. I don't even know if this is possible, but if it is, how can I transfer the files. I would put them on a CD but the CD drive won't open when the system repair tool is running, and they're too big to fit on a floppy disk, even one at a time (the system and software files are both over 2mb.)
No problem but was wondering if there is a program that can tell you what a .dll file is associated with. Seem to remember hearing about one but can not recall what it was.I have a .dll that XoftSpySE found but I am not sure if I need it or not.
I have a WD 250gb external HD, i have since switched to a mac and still want to use this HD.however there are 3 files on this drive that seem to be microsoft updates, not sure how they ended up on this drive....i did not place them there....id imagine it was thru one of the many microsoft auto updates i want to try and delete these files, but i get an error saying that i either dont have authority to delete these files , or they are currently in use. they are two folders that are 0 bytes....and have long random numeric and alpha titles such as e7e4e1d6bbb6349...etc.
I was just wondering if I did one of those highjack things if some one can tell me if there is some thing in my comp that shouldn't be......i have done 2 virus scans ans both come back with no viruses, but for 2 days its running so slow that my web pages time out beofre they can load.
I've received a .brw file and don't know what to do with it. Is there a way windows can search and recommend a way of viewing files with unknown extensions? When I select the option to have microsoft find the extension on the web,it sends me to shell.microsoft.com and then says I am unauthorized to access this site.

Is there a way to schedule an automated task the will save any open Word or Excel (Office 2003) files, and then close those programmes at a set time? I would like to be able to set this up on a PC with XP Pro as part of scheduling computer shut-down but not losing any data if an individual is still working at that time.
I am trying to clean out my registry from adware files .when I go to "RUN" Regedit the registry editor pops up and quickly goes away. Is thereanother way to edit the registry should I try it in Safe Mode
I have files on my Win 2k machine that I Exported Registry. With my new XP machine, I would like to import them. How does the Registry know where to put them (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, HKEY_USERS, etc.)?
I am trying to add this to registry(open). It says that cannot import certain file.reg The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor. Here is the script I was given to fix my flash player.
Since January my computer started getting error messages about corrupted files, corrupted registry, and drivers stopped working. I tried different things and ended up formatting my hard drive and reinstalling Windows. Things were fine for a while, but after a week I started getting messages about corrupt files again, having issues with drivers, and now Windows won't shut down properly. Also, the computer powers off of its own accord sometimes. I'm using Windows XP Home Edition SP3. I haven't made any hardware updates recently.
Some of the error messages I've been receiving are. For Bluesoleil (which I have uninstalled and reinstalled) it says that the file is corrupt and to try an anti-virus scan (I tried to copy the message, but the window went off on its own). AVG anti-virus keeps on saying there are no active components, or replacing all the commands with things beginning with @. The drivers for my Logitech Fusion webcam stopped working, but I've reinstalled them, and they work, for now. The Microsoft Kernel Wave Audio Mixer kept on corrupting. I've also had the message 'Windows - Registry Recovery One of the files containing the system's Registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternative copy.
I just ran my 3B Registry Repair Pro and it scanned the last couple thousand files 8 or 9 times...usually it scans somewhere around 30000 files (just a guess, takes about 13 minutes), this time it scanned like 60000 files and took 35 minutes. I was trying to update my ActiveSync, but it wouldn't finish. Then the computer wouldnt shut down. I ran Norton One Button Scan on a restart, and it didnt find anything. Im super nervous about viruses and spy/ ad ware, so ive got and use all the stuff everyone here says to use. im stumped.
I am on the computer in one room, networking with a computer in another room.I know you can export registry files onto your hard drive. Do you then have the other computer's regedit import that file?
I had my kid start my computer Win 2000(mistake) and a different desktop came up. It came up with a registry error and that everything was in admin.bak I copied it to desktop and rebooted now everything is missing. Can I recover my files?
