Jul 7, 2007
How to save shock wave files so don't repeat downloading? There are some .swf files that i would like to listen to again and again. But don't want to keep downloading them.I am still on dialup. Please, how can i save them on disk etc.?I searched for .swf files, but can't find the one just downloaded.
We use the basic solitare program and a Yahoo card game program and for the last few months the program stalls-just about 5 seconds--Cards freeze and then progress--sometimes it happens infrequently and sometimes a few times in a few minutes. Is there something I can do or is something broken?
My computer, which has IE and Windows XP, somehow lost Flash player 8 and Shockwave last week. Graphics, pictures and streaming videos do not show up anymore. Many pages which have graphics are simply blank boxes. I tried to use my restore function on my computer and reset the computer to before this all happened and when I go to the restore page all I see is a white page with no words. On Macromedia's website, I try and download Flashplayer and Shockwave where it says to click but after that I see nothing but a blank page. It seems need these programs to even download them! Which is really getting my upset!I had a tech person from Yahoo help me with my all my computer settings and they are all set the way they should be. But I still cannot obtain Flash and Shockwave at all!
To reinstall the shockwave flash:You must be logged on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group in order to perform this procedure.Click Start , click Run , and then type the following command: %systemroot%inf. There are no spaces at all in the preceding command line. Click OK to open the INF folder. Locate the file swflash.inf Right-click the file, and then click Install . This will reinstall the files that Search needs to proceed normally. You will be asked to place your windows XP cd rom in the drive.
I have a CD that requires Shockwave to run. When I put the CD in the drive a message pops up saying I need to install Shock wave.So I went to their site and downloaded and installed shock wave.I inserted the disk again and the same message came up to install shockwave? (rebooted got same message)I know the disk works as runs OK in my other computer.I was wondering if there is some thing I need to activate in order for it to work. My operating system is XP home edition.
im installing macromedia shockwave player so that i can log on to habbo hotel but all i keep on getting is a blue triangle red square and green circle in the left hand corner of the screen.Ive tried to set it up manually but for the installation complete sign to show the shapes are there.
I am having trouble with downloading shockwave or flash 8. I have a linksys wireless router but the computer is directly connected to it. I have AVG free antivirus running. It downloads and is on the add/remove screen, but it won't work.
how to open a file with the shock wave flash object: I have the latest shockwave player and flash installed but cannot find a program to play certain files I have received.
i've been running windows xp and the latest version of flash on this computer for as long as i can remember. the only thing is, about a year ago my computer tended to restart itself when i tried to load a large flash/shockwave file on both ie and ff. some websites cannot cause it to crash at all, Internet, for instance, but other websites like gametrailers cause the problem in hand.i've tried installing and reinstalling them many times, but the problem persists to this day.if anyone could help me to resolve this.
Computer is windows xp.I am getting an error message when I play a game.Error message goes as follows shock wave movie playback has an error unable to continue.
I am a big music downloader (all paid for, thank you)! I'm 55 so I guess I forgot how to download them as individual songs and not have them arbitrarily placed in folders predetermined by Windows. I remember a musicmatch and/or real networks technician told me once how to change my settings so they are captured as individual songs. Probably a simple answer, but I don't remember it.
when i download a file and then try to open it. i get an error that the specified file has encountered a problem and needs to close. if i cut and past the file to a location outside the folder i can then run the program.
When I try to download a file from the Internet, I get a box sasying "Run/Open", "Save", and "Cancel" as always. When I click on either of the first two options, however, the box simply clicks and unclicks with no actions following it. Almost as if you click "Post" in a forum, but you hold the click on it and move the cursor elsewhere, stopping the system from performing that action. On some days, I can get my system to download about 5 files before I can no longer click "Save" or "Open".
When online, all downloaded files I save take almost exactly 30 seconds to save to their location. Download speed is normal, the files are already downloaded. The only problem is the delay in saving. This happened all of a sudden. No new programs were added or settings changed. File size has no bearing - 2KB takes the same time to save as 200KB. Same delay for saving photos, html pages & images saved by a screen capture program. Offline all graphics capabilities & copying is normal. System is clean, no virus, spyware etc. HD is de-fragged, page file is de-fragged, all temp files emptied. Has happened before & a re-installation of XP fixes it, but I'd like to find out what's causing it?
Recently when I try to open or save a file from any application then it takes about 5 minutes before the pop up window appears where I can select which file/directory etc. This has just started and is very annoying. It's a laptop and there are quite a few hortcuts in My Network Neighbourhood pointing to network drives when I'm in work.ever this hasn't given me a problem before and none of them are mapped.I did use a web based storage site and it downloaded an application to synchronise a folder with the web older.......there was a mapped drive I think but I uninstalled the application and that also deleted the mapped drive. Is the computer still trying to find the mapped drive (although it doesn't show up in Explorer?).
I have a 60GB hard drive that says it is full. I have relatively few programs on my machine and only about 10 GB worth of music/pictures/movies. What is using all my hard drive memory and how do I fix? Does XP save the files in two places?
I am using XP and would like to regularly transfer files as a backup to a usb stick. As the capacity of the USB stick is limited, I will have to delete older backups when I run my scheduled transfer of new files. I usually have these files encrypted as they are confidential. My question is where do they go if I delete them on the USB stick? Are they ending up on my harddrive or in the recycle bin of the harddrive from where they can still be retrieved later on? Do USB sticks have their own recycle bin or some area where deleted files slumber?
I was running System Mechanic as a routine - (i.e. not a virus, or spyware problem), and Windows XP decided it wanted to do an install of some service pack automatically - which it did an auto reboot in the middle of SM running! Grrr...system froze when it came back up. I came back to just see the frozen screen and SM screen closed - and it ookedrebooted. Now when the computer is turned on in safe mode or regular, it just does a DOS listing of missing drivers - very extensive list. Got a CD hard copy of System Mechanic - but now am told if I use it to rescue the computer, it will delete my files! Yikes! My computer, Xplio, came with Windows installed. The rescue disk, if I can find it, (may be in storage) I believe also says it deletes files if used...one reason I didn't keep it out and easily found. 1. How do I save / rescue my files???? I have many years of nonprofit work on the computer I don't want to lose. 2. Can the computer be "saved"? 3. Is there a way to use someone else's Windows XP disks with their passwords (legitimate copy) on my computer to reinstall the missing drivers? OR - can all the drivers be downloaded from somewhere - ideally for free? I can prove I have/ had legitimate right to Windows XP - I noticed Microsoft charges for tech support - guess I am naive - was surprised it would charge for first call ever!
I got this problem, my cmd prompt typing rate is very slow. This happened after i have enabled my HyperThreading in my system through some hacking of boot.ini and bios setup,Installed some patches with MS automatic update. And turned off some services in my system. Now it's like about only 20% of the speed of the previous cmd prompt
I have the keyboard settings set to minimum delay before repeating, and maximum repeat rate. My problem is, no matter these settings, when I press and hold a key, it registers twice before starting the repeat cycle. For example:
I press and hold "A." Computer registers: A...A...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
Obviously for a game that requires keys to be held down, this is a major problem. I also know for a fact that this happens with every key, and that the problem is with the computer, not the keyboard (I have tried many different ones). I don't know if my driver was installed twice or something, that seems to be common, but I haven't been able to find any solution to this problem.
For some reason, when tried to open a PDF file over the internet, it shows the downloading and then when it's done, it's just a white screen. I tried going back but it's still the same thing. So I went to my desktop and clicked on some other older PDF file I had and I don't get know error message or anything, it doesn't open.
Every time I download a file that is bigger than a couple of megs I get an CRC error saying the file is corrupt when I try to open it. When I try to unzip a zip file winzip reports an error. I have ran ScanDisk on my hard drive and there are no errors, I have also swaped out my IDE cable and that didnt help. I also installed a new network card and different Ram, I still get the same errors on almost all my downloads.
I am using Windows XP. When I download certain things to the desktop, they don't actually save to the Desktop, but rather to a folder called "Recent." When I search for these files using the Windows search tool, I can find them, but I don't know how to (a) open the "Recent" folder or (b) re-route it so they actually download to the desktop.
I used "drag & drop" to move some of my documents to a cd rw disk on my D drive. It all transferred well, however, when I open the files and edit them it does not allow me to "save as" on that same cd on the D drive and says, "You do not have permission to save in this directory. See the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the My Documents folder instead?" So it wants me to save what I have on the D Drive CD RW disk back to my C drive on my cpu. This is my computer, I am the administrator and have full permissions so I do not understand why I can't edit and save my own cd's.
every 3-5 minutes or so, the main window that i'm working in (doesn't matter which program im running, but usually firefox/msn messenger, etc..) stops being the "top" window, and instead goes to the background - as if i opened another internet explorer window on top of it.this "glitch" is always followed by something even more strange - the sound gets cut off, and if i check the meters in volume control i always find the "wave" meter to be on minimum, and i have to put it back in the middle.
i want to save my windows i use now to a ISO file so i can reinstall it at that state so i don't have to format and start fresh. Understand? So. What im trying to say is. I install a fresh copy of windows xp then i install the things i use the most like themes programs etc. then i want to save it to a ISO so later on when i think its time to go back to my windows xp in a new state i can just install the windows i had before without installing a new copy and installing everything one by one.
My computer has gotten to where it no longer will save folder settings. I don't know why this would happen? It no longer opens my folders full screen and all of the folders are the same style. I go to my pictures folder and set it to view thumbnails. As soon as I back out and go back in, they are back to tiles. Every folder is in tiles no matter what I try to set it to. It got this way because I set it to save every folder as that option because, before, it would randomly change the view setting to any folder. One day, my pictures would be thumbnails, the next a filmstrip, the next tiles, and so forth without an increase or decrease in the amount of pictures there. I even change the "type" of folder to something different: Music, lots of pictures, few pictures, documents, etc. Still the same settings.NOW it is getting to where it won't even save the order I put my quick launch icons in. I had them in the same order for over a year and now they won't stay that way. Nothing has changed?Oh, and it's also giving me a blue screen of death when I try to open pictures with Windows Media Player.Virus software and adware software don't find anything suspicious.
