View 12 Repliesi've been running windows xp and the latest version of flash on this computer for as long as i can remember. the only thing is, about a year ago my computer tended to restart itself when i tried to load a large flash/shockwave file on both ie and ff. some websites cannot cause it to crash at all, Internet, for instance, but other websites like gametrailers cause the problem in hand.i've tried installing and reinstalling them many times, but the problem persists to this day.if anyone could help me to resolve this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTo reinstall the shockwave flash:You must be logged on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group in order to perform this procedure.Click Start , click Run , and then type the following command: %systemroot%inf. There are no spaces at all in the preceding command line. Click OK to open the INF folder. Locate the file swflash.inf Right-click the file, and then click Install . This will reinstall the files that Search needs to proceed normally. You will be asked to place your windows XP cd rom in the drive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer, which has IE and Windows XP, somehow lost Flash player 8 and Shockwave last week. Graphics, pictures and streaming videos do not show up anymore. Many pages which have graphics are simply blank boxes. I tried to use my restore function on my computer and reset the computer to before this all happened and when I go to the restore page all I see is a white page with no words. On Macromedia's website, I try and download Flashplayer and Shockwave where it says to click but after that I see nothing but a blank page. It seems need these programs to even download them! Which is really getting my upset!I had a tech person from Yahoo help me with my all my computer settings and they are all set the way they should be. But I still cannot obtain Flash and Shockwave at all!

It's just terribly slow.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhenever I load a website in Opera with anything that uses flash, macromedia flash player to be exact, the screen flickers and turns hazy/fuzzy. Nothing is effected performance wise, but it's really annoying. I know Iexplorer supports the newest flash and shockwave pllayers, but are they supported in Opera? I tried downloading the newest version of the flash player, but that didn't help. I don't have this problem with internet explorer, but of course I don't want to use it...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to say this computer has not been turned on in more then a year. Family that got it off me said it didn't work... That it just beeped and shut off...only thing that looked wrong to me today at a glance was that little switch in the back was set to 230 and not 115 so I flipped it back to 115 and up until now it seemed to work fine and as fast and noisy as I remember (it's pretty big and I think a counted 12 or 13 fans in it once)...according to the guy I got it from when he "upgraded" to some sort of water cooled system or something (actually I think he just dropped parts in a vat of oil *shrugs*), he said, that this is running hot. the little readout next to those knobs to control the fan speeds are reading from 58 F, 120.8 F and 88.2...but I know my body temperature is in the 90's and the internal air feels moderate while the shell that it is all in is cold to the touch...I do not know if that could have anything to do with my actually problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the security setting set to ''prompt'' for active x control. When I attempt to download the player, I get the warning pop-up, see the gold bar, say ''yes'' to downloading active x control. The pop-up window comes up asking me if I want to download Flash Player 9 and I click on "install". The window disappears, nothing downloads, no error message. Also, what is strange is that now I can't view any PDF files on the internet. I can open the program (Adobe Reader 7.08) itself, but whenever I try to access a file on the web, the browser window disappears, again without an error message. I used to be able to view PDF's fine before I tried to install Flash Player 9.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a PC running XP home, which completely locks up when viewing 'any' type of video online. Mostly with flash player. It plays for a few seconds then freezes. Seems to work fine as long as on text pages. Windows media player also seems to work fine. Tried loads of things - Swapped memory, graphics card, removed flash player and reinstalled. Nothing seems to stop it freezing. This happens with either IE7 or with Firefox. Have removed the ethernet adapter and replaced the drivers. When it freezes there is nothing showing in the event logs as a pointer?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have managed to open up a game running on Macromedia Flash Player 7 and that game has now become a permanent icon on my desktop which has attached itself to the top of the screen. I can make it very small so it is basically out of the way but it has changed some other desktop icon settings as well and no matter where I go to correct the settings, I cannot get rid of the game or get my settings back to normal. I feel like I've done everything I know how to do which is considerable - but this one has me baffled. I am running Windows XP (Home Edition) on a new emachine.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have read lots of inquiries on the web about corrupt installations of Flash Player 9 in both Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7. I am having that problem too.Running sfc /scannow does not fix the problem.I have removed all traces of the installation but continue to find that the file is corrupt, however,it does allow me to view flash files on the Internet. So here is a screen shot of what is said during the removal of the file in the Download Programs Folder in internet explorer 6.Note: I don't like internet explorer 7, it corrupts my HP scanjet 2300 driver. I also like Internet Explorer 6's larger navigation buttons on the tool bar.Though I am a Power User, this one has me stumped. I am sure the error message in this screen shot will allow the techies.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I load certain websites with flash ads and such, everything goes smoothly, untill the flash object loads and starts playing - once it loads the screen flickers and gets kind of hazy. Nothing is really effected or harmed, but the slight haziness/fuzziness is rather anoying. Once I exit the web browser, everything goes back to normal. It doesn't matter whether I'm using Iexplorer or Opera, so I'm thinking it is directly related to the Macromedia flash player.
