SP2 Not Downloading And Installing
Sep 3, 2007I have a laptop beside me that i had to do a recovery on, since then it has not allowed me to install SP2, It just hangs when it gets to the registry key bit.

Slowed Down SP2 After Downloading / Installing Net Pumper?
Dec 27, 2006Last week my wife downloaded some crap off the internet and netpumper came along. She installed it unknowningly and started all Italian p0rn pop-ups. I detected netpumper and immediately uninstalled it, removed few of the registry entries I found.Did some regular cleaning process like Spyware S&D, Ad-ware, AVG anti-spyware. Got a clean chit from these guys and alls wiped out. I then ran AVG and Avast anti virus to make sure no virus is sitting in my system. Alls clean again. Then ran CCcleaner to clean some crap left behind by the OS.Now, I thought, the threat is gone (because no pop-ups) but now the threat started showing up as very slowed down PC.

Dec 20, 2006I install Server 2003 Standard SP1 downloaded and installed on a PII 400, 256Mb RAM with IIS, ASP.Net 2.0, SQL server 2000 SP4, Mysql 5, and PHP5, and all without a single hitch...too good to be true. I went ahead and tried on what will be my server PIII600, 512 MB RAM, First try, Server 2003 couldn't find a file when installing, retried and it worked. Downloaded SP1 and when I was extracting it said "file is corrupt", downloaded 4 more times with same result. reformatted and reinstalled 5 more times and cannot get past "file is corrupt" on SP1 and sometimes extracting the .Net 2.0 installer got the same error. I swap all hardware with PC from first try (except RAM, Mobo, CPU, CDROM) with no change. Win98 and XP installed fine on the second PC just can't get server 2003

Feb 19, 2005I recently installed xp for the first time after replacing motherboard and CPU.I skipped setup because I didn't know what I was doing. Now I can't boot up (cold or warm) without using the original disk. Can I just go into setup and change boot settings without re-installing.Is there anything else I should know before I attempt to fix this problem? I am tired of using the disk every time I update something or install new program.

Downloading Causing Stuttering
Dec 28, 2006I got a new computer a few weeks ago and downloading anything causes whatever else I'm doing to lag and stutter. Its especially noticable in sound and movies but if its a fast download even the mouse will skip around. Even loading websites causes this. Offline everything works fine. Any idea what I could do to fix it?

Temp Folder Unchecked During Downloading
Sep 16, 2009I downloaded Sony Vegas Movie Studio and clicked the installer as I would normally do with any program I would download and a window comes up telling me that my Temp folder (CDocuments and Settings/"name"/Local Settings/Temp) is write protected. I can't do anything >.< I right clicked the Temp folder and unchecked 'Read Only' and applied it, right clicked it again, went back to properties to see if it worked and the box is rechecked again I'm stumped.
