Sep 11, 2007I have been having problems with my computer and a frend told me to download Windows XP OEM SP2 using a torrent website and UTORRENT. However, i'm not sure if my computer is OEM or not, so if I downloaded OEM version, would this mess up my computer even more? Or shall i just download Windows XP SP2?

But I've never downloaded anything before.I've started a few but I get confused when I'm suppose to click on "run" or "save", so I end up canceling. Dec 21, 2004is it possible to download a file straight to the E (cd burner) drive? i don't know what i am doing, so playing around i just downloaded a file to that location, but it says the files are ~ready~ to be written to the cd and i don't know what steps to take next. i would be grateful for any guidance (oooh, and question - if i do manage to get files directly to the cd like that, will they still leave traces just as if i'd downloaded them to the hard drive?)

Downloading Causing Stuttering
Dec 28, 2006I got a new computer a few weeks ago and downloading anything causes whatever else I'm doing to lag and stutter. Its especially noticable in sound and movies but if its a fast download even the mouse will skip around. Even loading websites causes this. Offline everything works fine. Any idea what I could do to fix it?

Temp Folder Unchecked During Downloading
Sep 16, 2009I downloaded Sony Vegas Movie Studio and clicked the installer as I would normally do with any program I would download and a window comes up telling me that my Temp folder (CDocuments and Settings/"name"/Local Settings/Temp) is write protected. I can't do anything >.< I right clicked the Temp folder and unchecked 'Read Only' and applied it, right clicked it again, went back to properties to see if it worked and the box is rechecked again I'm stumped.

I have noticed that if I keep my system running at night, which is when I generally download stuff from rapidshare and some torrents, it shows some kind of low virtual memory message when I have a look at it in the morning. Dec 27, 2006Last week my wife downloaded some crap off the internet and netpumper came along. She installed it unknowningly and started all Italian p0rn pop-ups. I detected netpumper and immediately uninstalled it, removed few of the registry entries I found.Did some regular cleaning process like Spyware S&D, Ad-ware, AVG anti-spyware. Got a clean chit from these guys and alls wiped out. I then ran AVG and Avast anti virus to make sure no virus is sitting in my system. Alls clean again. Then ran CCcleaner to clean some crap left behind by the OS.Now, I thought, the threat is gone (because no pop-ups) but now the threat started showing up as very slowed down PC.

May 27, 2009I inherited a great computer that is running SP1a. It has not been used in years but is running great. It has some great programs that cannot be replaced. I've heard SP3 is incompatible with a few programs and don't want to chance losing them. Also, since its an older system, I'd rather update 1 step at a time.
Where can I find service pack 2 being that Microsoft's site only links to SP3 (all SP2 links take you to an SP3 page)? I tried Download.com but only found SP3 and SP1a.
